This is an amazing song written by Avi and Kevin. It’s also cool in the video when the petals go upwards. They actually learned how to say the words in those parts backwards so when they rewind those bits to make the petals float upwards it looks like they are singing those parts. That’s dedicated and hard work to make a beautiful video to go with an incredible song 🥰🥰 love your reactions!

Seamless! That is how I describe them. There is nothing even remotely off sequence of pitch which is difficult with 5 part harmony. I think sometimes they are a victim of their own perfection. They do what they do so easily that we just kind of take it for granted. And don't worry about the crying thing, I think something is missing in a person if you aren't moved to tears.
I'm a soft touch when it comes to music. One because I know how precious real talent is. Two because not enough people try to do what these people do, they don't realize these guy's are the Tom Brady of group singing. What they do they make look so easy that we tend to discount what they do. Thank you for your honest reaction.
A little trivia: On March 19th, 2014, their mics malfunctioned during their concert, so while they waited for the stage hands to fix it, they sang this off-mic. The place went quiet to listen to them and the audience gave a standing ovation at the end. (There are four different YT videos of this performance, taken from different angles, if you're curious.)
Ever since then, they always include an off-mic, intimate performance in their concerts.

I was there in St. Louis. The particular concert hall they were in is known as having amazing acoustics, and their voices filled the concert hall. You could hear a pin drop between their phrases.
Oh another bit of info from that day... The group got ready to sing off mic, had their drinks, and were getting ready to line up at the front of the stage, when a stage hand came out with mics, seeming that they fixed the problem. Scott waved him off. Then they sang. They were really happy with how it went and said they were going to have to do it again. Judging by the above comment, they made good on that. The last time I saw them they did something similar at an outdoor venue (but on purpose this time), but they had a single mic that they laid on the ground between them.

When did you last see them? I've been trying to track down when they switched from doing it completely off-mic to singing to a single mic. The first concert video where a single mic is visible on a mic stand was from their Feb 25th, 2015 concert. The concert video before that, in Dec 2014, didn't display any mic, but I guess it could have been on the floor and not visible.
So glad you have swung back around to them. Don't feel bad about getting in your feels, after 100+ seeing this I still do. Especially when they get to the line about breaking down the gates of heaven.

Anessa Lyn Oh gosh yes. There’s another reactor who reacted to this not long after he lost his infant son, and it nearly broke me to see those lyrics hit him right in that wound.
This song was written by Avi and Kevin. Amazing, isn't it? It's actually my favorite original PTX song. I always love watching a first-time reactor view this because it's hard not to be emotionally moved.
I’m in the minority here. Was never a huge fan. BUT! I saw them perform this live and it was so beautiful 😍 The whole audience goes quiet while PTX stands around 1 mic and sings. Ugh! So amazing!

You looked so sad - maybe they should put a warning label on this video, at least during the shutdown! I have seen this dozens of times, and still get soppy. One of my favorite lyrics is in this song - "but your heart drifted off, like the land split by sea". It is such a meaningful line. Hope you find something to smile about today!

It hits everyone of us, I think that's their goal: playing with the strings of our hearts and just let us feel. I often listen to this song when I need an outlet for my emotions with a good cry

there is a version of this song when they were singing it live with people yelling homophobic stuff at them the entire time, it makes me cry every time because you can _see_ how much this song means to them
I heard one person say something along the lines of: people can be awful and cruel and destructive, we see crimes in the news of people doing horrible things. But then, we have THIS. People making beauty. And we need to hang onto that beauty.

Love watching your watch Pentatonix but I also enjoy watching you show your emotions. There's nothing more appealing and sexier than a man who's not afraid to show their feelings. Also you have such pretty eyes and a gorgeous smile that puts a sparkle in your eyes everytime you smile. Keep doing what you enjoy and let all your reactions be normal. By the way I'm not some sicko or perverted old lady (48 isn't old either) but I like to give compliments when I see something beautiful or something special, I like to appreciate things.

This is actually one of their original songs. Kevin and Avi wrote most of it with contributions from the others. It is a poignant song that many people find personal meaning in.

This song is gorgeous. I just get so distracted because the lipreading is so slightly off by ptx during the chorus. They filmed the "rising petals" sections backwards to get the effect, so they had to do backward lip syncing to get it. As a hard of hearing lipreader, I'm both impressed and distracted!

Kevin's voice in this is absolutely gorgeous. I keep finding myself searching just for his voice, and in the last bits of the song he really shines through

Avi and Kevin wrote this little emotional, gorgeous masterpiece... These people; what other superlatives can one think of to describe them? I’m 77, and a composer and pianist. I love Scott, Avi, (Matt), Kirstie, Mitch and Kevin-not just as musicians, but as wonderful, caring souls. 💕🎹🎼❤️

I heard this for the first time the week we buried my father. It BROKE me 🥺 the line about breaking down the gates of heaven just described everything I was feeling. My mother died less than 2 years before and i couldn't even put words on how i was feeling and this song captured my grief.
It healed me a little at the same time as breaking me in two 💔

Thanks for the genuine reaction. I love watching you react to these because it reminds me of my first reaction to them. I know you have said before that you don't have the setup to do the reaction with headphones and I understand, but if you can get your hands on some ear buds or something I encourage you to go back on your own and re-listen to this one. The richness of the harmonies in it blows me away every time but it is harder to hear through speakers on this one in particular. Thanks again for the entertainment!!

This is an original written by Kevin. I'm still gonna recommend headphones or earbuds. There are so many nuances your missing. I really enjoy your reacts because they do evoke emotions.
From what I've read, Kevin wrote the beginning, then Avi wrote the rest, with arrangement input from the others and particularly Ben Bram. I'm a bit surprised they still perform this, as there are apparently some legal issues on some songs since Avi left (and there are some songs PTX no longer does because they were so iconically Avi, and they felt it wouldn't be fair to Matt to set him up for comparisons). Correct me if I'm wrong, folks. I don't listen to/watch PTX much any more, so I may be mistaken.
