Avi and Kevin wrote this. No beatboxing just voices. A part of this makes me cry, I wonder if you'll know right away which part. Sing off was in 2011, this was done in 2014...excellent request
I didn’t see anyone mention it yet but the part where the snow is “falling” up, they had to learn to lip sync the lyrics backwards 🤯🤯🤯. As others have mentioned, My Heart With You from their Evergreen album and their cover of Elvis’s Can’t Help Falling In Love are similarly gorgeous 5 part harmonies ❤️
For more with all 5 singing: Light in the Hallway (original) Can't help falling in love My heart with you Evergreen (original) Over the rainbow That's Christmas to me (original)
Hello Saucey Dad. This is another one of Pure Pentatonix Perfection. They perform this live, standing in a circle, with eyes closed and a single microphone on the floor inside the circle.
Avi could do a recording of him just breathing and I'd listen to it. I love this one and it still gives me chills every time. This has to be, for me, Avi's best bass he did with PTX, he not only can hold down the bass( rumble) line when needed, he also can sing in that same bass rumble and be understood, every word. Blows my mind every time.
This song always makes me cry, not from sadness but from the absolutely gorgeous sound that these unicorns produce time after time after time. Once again a wonderful reaction. No matter what you always bring a smile to my face or a laugh to brighten my day! I hope you'll react to "Come Along". You'll love it!
Their performances of the songs"My Heart with You" (which somewhat inspired this from what I've heard) and "Can't Help Falling in Love" have similar styles with the 5-part harmony. Love this!
The "Sing Off" was fall of 2011. They were inspired by "My Heart with You", which they have known for 10 years, to write this song. I don't remember if you've done a reaction to that one, yet. They performed it in their Christmas tour in December. There are great "live" performances of "My Heart with You" by them.
Out of all their fantastic originals, this song remains my favorite, for exactly the word you used - chills. I have heard this song so many times, yet I still get chills every time.
This was the 1st Pentatonix song I ever heard. I watched a cover of this by Sam Robson and he credited PTX for it. I thought . . . hmmmm . . . I need to check them out . . . this was about 7 yrs ago. Needless to say . . . I've been all the way down the rabbit hole and quickly became a registered Pentaholic
This is quite possibly my absolute favorite of their originals. It is stunningly beautiful and absolutely heartwrenching. Guaranteed tears, every. single. time.
Another song that they cover which has no beatboxing.. just vocals is their Elvis Presley cover "I can't help falling in love" I'd love to see your reaction ❤️
Ah! I've been waiting for this one forever! Haven't even watched it yet and I already have to comment. Such an emotional song. Yes this is an original written by Kevin and Avi!
I have always loved this, and every time they reach the climax I get shivers. I also love the fact it is all of them actually singing. Beautiful song, great reaction.
I rarely comment on videos anymore but had to on this one for two reasons - one - you are great and one of my favorite PTX reactors so just wanted to say Thank You! And two - even if you don’t react to it - please do yourself a favor and look up the video - Pentatonix St Louis Run To You Live - Off Mic. I was at the concert - it was a moment I will NEVER forget - THANKFULLY for everyone of the 4,000+ people in the opera house they had issues with their mics - and did this song without their microphones and someone in the front row captured it and put it up on RUclips. It went from dead silent while they were singing to SOOOOO loud during the standing ovation I will never forget that.
Check this out. Back in 2017, before he announced he'd be leaving PTX, Avi conducted this performance of "Run To You" at an a cappella workshop. Watch how he draws the music from the singers, especially at the line "how shall I win back", where he reaches out and goes up on his tiptoes. You can tell he loves conducting. (Note: before being recruited into PTX in 2011 and offered a position with the Los Angeles Opera, Avi was considering a career as a music director, and to this day does workshops and teaching at schools and universities, including the A Cappella Academy, which he co-founded. Music is literally his life (although he's said that, had he not gone into music as a career, he would have become a chef)). ruclips.net/video/xYVPyw8Q9fI/видео.html
Also, if you'd like to see this live I recommend this video. ruclips.net/video/gVNamBJUdfU/видео.html Kirstie and Kevin steal the show on this. Especially Kevin! His voice is stunning.
I have seen and heard this one before as with almost all Pentatonix ( I'm a big fan) but it is great to hear it again. Thanks for the reaction! They harmonize so well that it never fails to move me.
my fave PTX song ever! Absolutely stunning harmonies and dissonance. They did a joke remix of it in a vlog that's hilarious, you can find it here: ruclips.net/video/O4sN45ADAAg/видео.html
Many years ago, I used to sit in my car and blast this with the windows closed when I was having a tough day. Yeah, it is a beautiful song. Thank you for your reaction to it. Glad you found out it was supposed to be on "the list"
This is definitely one of my top favorites of theirs. My favorite part is the whole last section. Make sure you listen to that all the way through since you paused in the middle of it. As someone who was in choir all the way through school back in the old days before beatboxing, I really enjoy it when they are all singing with no rhythm effects.
Whether or not all members were involved in writing a song, their contract stipulated that all be credited. I call it the Lennon-Mccartney clause. From what I've heard, Kevin did the initial portion, then Avi took over and wrote the remainder (and they arranged it with Ben's help). To my ear, you can clearly hear Avi's influence in this song, and how it was almost a portend of what he would create once he went solo.
Love this, definitely one of the best PTX originals. Always prefer them doing stacked chords and harmonies, they do it better than anyone. Mitchy could do the high stuff here, he did whistle notes in 2014, but he used his range. Love it when Avi and Mitchy sing together, always amazing when you have the bottom and the top opposite each other!
So I work in accounting/inventory......excel is your bff!!! Just create a simple spreadsheet, make a tab for each artist or genre etc, then just list the songs & mark a tally whenever the song is requested so you can keep a running go at it. I promise my ocd world of organizing info is helpful lol!
Fun fact about this video (although ive never seen this actually confirmed but ive heard it a few times), they learned to lip sync the chorus in reverse to get that shot of the petals going up. They filmed it backwards and then played it in reverse.
As many have mentioned they perform this true a capella style on tour. If you can find it in the backstage tour series (it was a matt tour) it's worth finding two stand out performances - one night they were troubled by protestors and you hear mitch and scott sing with such passion to drown them out. The next night they sing what they describe as their best ever live version of the song and get very emotional back stage discussing it.
Kevin wrote this (and maybe Avi?) Other songs where they are all singing like this: My Heart with You, Silent Night and Can't Help Falling in Love and this is 3 years after The Sing-Off
Another great reaction! When I first heard this, it really allowed me to get a better feel for "who they are." As an original piece, they really have "close" or dissonant harmonies spot on. Most vocal performers can't pull of dissonance like this. Two other songs without beat box that really focus on their harmonies on dissonance and resolution are 1) "Can't Help Falling in Love with You (Elvis cover). 2) Auld Lang Syne (usually sung for New Years). Both are phenomenal!
If you find this haunting, you should look up the life version from Florida. It was an open air and outside the venue were haters chanting against gay people. You could hear them over the music. Ptx was really upset. So they came together around 1 mic and sang this song. You can clearly see all emotions on their face. Kevin concerned for Mitch. Scott So sad....
This is an original Avi and Kevin collaboration. Apparently there is a video of them gathered around a single microphone and the audience was silent. The sad thing is that there were some people protesting outside of the arena. I can't remember why. But it's supposed to be very powerful.
I've seen this and it's very emotional. It is on RUclips somewhere. They were protesting about Scott & Mitch being gay, so awful and a horrible group of people that will protest about anything. I'll see if I can find the link.
That video hurts my heart! I linked the video from the next tour date above when Scott got emotional, because it's so sweet. The one with the actual protests while powerful, just hurt so much to watch. But their resolve is powerful!
@@becca2383 both Mitch and Scott are gorgeous people, inside and out. They are humble, smart, creative, hard working people. I know that Mitch, by releasing his cover of my power by Billie eilish, he helped encourage someone to choose life when they were considering suicide. I apologize if this is a trigger for anyone. But to me, it makes them even more beautiful. Who cares about their sexuality? If it isn't hurting anyone, what's the problem. They are singers, performers and I've been to a concert, and they are great. I would rather have people like them around me than those protesters, even if they were family. Sorry, I'll get off my soap box now.
Yes an original. An Avi and Kevin one in a choral setup where they both get to sing. One way you can tell is it uses the humming that Avi often uses in his music today. Avi used to use it with his honor choirs here he is doing so before he left Pentatonix. ruclips.net/video/xYVPyw8Q9fI/видео.html

Well now since you've heard this song you definitely should check out Pentatonix random jamming/singing on the fly. At the very end 4 of the 5 members break out into a crazy remix of this song that sounds nothing like this except for the lyrics. Let's just say Avi wasn't too crazy about what they were doing to his beautiful song. Very funny though. It's a fan made compilation so you don't have to worry about copyright.
Love your reactions and the conversations you have with Slappy (that you don't really have)! As I'm answering your questions : You: Is this an original? I love this song! About Mitch's voice, the trio were all 19 years old when they won the Sing Off. No one's voice is fully developed at that age. They have all been growing and strengthening ever since. Their accomplishment in winning is even more impressive when you realize they hadn't even really grown up yet.
Sounds like you’re talking about Luke Taylor at the end. He’s a Tik tok singer, and also sings with the Wellerman on “Misty Mountains” which you absolutely need to check out (it’s on the “Wellerman” RUclips page) and is a collaboration of a ton of singers, mostly bass voices including The Bass Gang, Jonathon Young and a host of others I can’t name off the top of my head.

I believe it is supposed to be ashes, not snow

I would love to see saucey dads reaction when he reads this post 🤣😂

Dreams is one of their best 5 part harmonies
If I remember it right its Kevin and Avi who wrote this song together. Its breathtaking
Powerful vocals. Great harmonizing.
One of their most beautiful songs!
This is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE SONG by PTX!!! Thank you!!!
Now you HAVE to react to My Heart With You. Very similar and Kevin sings on that too! Love your reaction to this.
And Valentine! I know for sure he will love it!
Yes he has his own sound. You know without looking
Breaking down the gates of heaven to find a person they love is pretty strong imagery.
A great reaction thank you and thank you Sarah for the request 😊
THIS SONG IS SO BEAUTIFUL. ONE OF MY FAVORITES. THERE IS ANOTHER SONG WHERE THEY ALL SING CALLED "DREAMS". BILLY BOY
Another example that is similar to this is TAKE MY HEART WITH YOU. Everyone sings!
Hauntingly Beautiful!!
It's a truly beautiful piece and has Avi heart/soul/feels fingerprints all over it.

My Heart With You from their Evergreen album inspired this song back then and it took them this long to record it, but they always loved it.
dissonant Harmony doesn't always work but oh boy it really does in this case. All PTZ songs with 5 part harmony are impeccably excellent.
