In this video we remove the hard top and install a brand new soft top. Our Jeep did not come with the dual top option and there are additional pieces you need to make sure you get if you buy a used soft top.

I recently inherited my Jeep when my brother passed away. A black 2013 Wrangler sport with 60,000 miles. Had no idea how to remove the hardtop, or install the soft top until I watched this video! ABSOLUTELY one of THE BEST instructional videos I've ever seen! Thank you for doing such a great job on this, I'm enjoying my Jeep topless now!😉😆

I have a new to me 2013 that looks just like yours. It has a hard top but also the factory soft top. I made the mistake of trying to set the soft top up like you demonstrated and got so frustrated because of how tight the fit was not realizing it hasn't been put on in a long time and was cold. I told my wife how mad I was at you because y'all made it look so easy. haha... All kidding aside, thank you for the great video. It helped so much

Jeep is the only company and Wrangler is the only SUV in the entire WORLD which gives you the option of Hard Top, Soft Top and Open SUV according to your mood. I am from India and we like to buy an old SUV and then remake it to fulfill our hobby to drive an open SUV.

Canadian here with my first Jeep Wrangler 2012 purchased a year and a half ago! last summer I bought on kijiji a soft top and use it all summer and was in my glory! Its now winter :( and I have the hard top on with the Soft top wrapped up in storage ! I randomly decided on this Cold Saturday afternoon to watch this video to remind me of my soft top! I have now realized the sun rider option I do not know if my soft top has the sun rider option but I do recall the gray sleeves and now more than ever I cant wait for Summer..... or even just spring ! First time Jeep owner. 2011 JK hardtop.
Guy has a Besttop complete on Facebook marketplace for $200. Wasn't sure if I was going to get it because I didn't know how involved it was to swap it out.

Finally! A video that shows each step. My 2016 came with the hard top, but no soft one. The dealer felt bad, and just loaded the back with a bunch of parts along with the soft tops. (I'm not sure why they gave me 2?) But I see that they didn't give me parts like the window frames or the clips for them. I'm glad you showed each step, as I would've had someone help me remove the hard top then found I couldn't install the soft top without the needed hardware! Really, the best video I've found on how to do this! Being my first Jeep, and a somewhat older (?!?) woman, I now have a better idea of what to do. A million thanks, and I'll jump over and have a look at your new RUclips channel! 👍🏼👍🏼

@@WeRmudfun Just out of curiosity, do you use anything to keep the rubber seals for the tops conditioned? I had t-tops in a car, and used Armour All on the seals, but I've read that's not the best to use. I'd like to keep them conditioned to avoid cracks or weather damage.

@@kdavis114 Honestly, we have never conditioned the seals on any of our Jeeps and we have had 4 of them. 😀
@@WeRmudfun Thanks for the reply. I've just read so many complaints of Jeeps leaking around the rubber that I wanted to head off any problems before they start. Since you haven't had any problems, I don't think I'll worry too much about keeping them softened. 😊

@@kdavis114 I always go with my gut feeling. We have never done it, but that's not to say it doesn't happens for some people. I would imagine it depends on the weather in the particular area you live in. Before we started traveling we lived in New England and had 4 seasons, but hardly the extremes of any of those seasons. 😀

Thank you for the video. Living in MN. I take the tops out and it rains so back on they go. My husband took the tools out of the back so I couldn't try to take that back top off. A friend of mine just gifted me a soft top he never used from his 2door 2018 Rubicon which he just traded in , it will go on my 2016 Willys 2door ,and your video made it seem like even I could do this , thank you for posting.

Just bought a 2017 Jeep Willys 2 door yesterday and I watched your video again! I got the "dual roof package". Kinda strange that the Jeep is shipped with the hardtop over the folded soft top. This is my first Jeep so I'm TOTALLY new at this! I have to take out the soft top but it looks like I have to remove the hardtop to do it. I plan on watching this video about another 20 times as I go along! Lol!
Congrats!!!!! Glad you found the video useful. :)The Wrangler is not a large vehicle, so they have to put the soft top in under the hardtop for the dual top option. I have heard some people try to remove the soft top without removing the hard top. We don't recommend doing that, the hardtop is not that hard to remove. Good Luck and enjoy you new Willys!

I cannot tell you how helpful this is for me. I’m not the “instructions” type, I’m the “show me” type. It would’ve taken me three days to figure this out by reading the manual, or I would’ve had to wait for my husband to find time to do it. With this video, I can tackle this by myself in under an hour, start to finish. Thank you so, so much. Jeep should have this link printed on their business cards.

Wow, how top removal has changed since I owned a YJ. My husband and I are in the middle of purchasing a JK, so I wanted to do research on the tops. This is way more intense then when I was 20 and taking the top off my 93 . Still worth it though, thanks for the very helpful video.

This is the best video . I've had it saved for a few years. I recently lost the screws that attach my sun visor to the mounting bracket. Could you tell me which screws I should purchase. You complete the install at 7m35 seconds and show one side being installed. Appreciate any help! Really such a wonderful video. No one does it better!
Thank you so much Sheila. Are the screws missing from both visors? If not, you can take one out and go to to an auto store or hardware store and have them match it up for you. We looked online, and there are multiple sizes and lengths available, but the description says they fit a Jeep, but none list the visor specifically. The parts department at a Jeep dealer should have that information also. Wish we had more info for you. Good Luck! 😀

What a fantastic video! I bought my Jeep last week mines a 4 door JK and i love it! im buying a new soft top soon, original one has a pin hol in the front (dealer patched with duct tape for now lol) and my rear windows are terribly yellowed, ill probably polish them and keep the old top as a spare.

Best video explaining how to install ever! You guys made it fun! Do you have a video showing how to uninstall the soft top and go back to the hard top? Or do you simply leave the brackets and soft top on and put the hard top back on over it? Sorry, I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to 2 door Jeep Wranglers. Again, great video! It was very helpful!
Thank you! No, we did not video putting the hardtop back on. It's not recommended leaving the soft top on under the hard top. Put soft top down, disconnect bows from brackets mounted to the rollbar (those brackets stay attached), remove the soft top and door surrounds, then mount the hard top. If you have any questions, just ask us. :)

THANK YOU for posting a video on a 2-dr Jeep--I'm getting tired of seeing all these soccer mom 4-dr Wrangler videos. Just curious...but can you reinstall JUST the front portion of the hard top (i.e., without installing the back portion, too)? Great video; really informative and easy to follow. Well done.
Thank you! :) I have never done it, but I read people have driven with just the Freedom Panels attached. I'd make sure you latch the latches that can be and put the screws in the back of the panels through the sound bar. Press up hard on them to make sure they are holding before going out of a ride.
