Boston Legal - Denny and Alan Friendship Dialogue Scene

- I wanted to see this heartfelt moment in television history from a different perspective. So I flipped the scene horizontally to gain a more surreal perspective than the one most viewers initially experienced.

People talk about Scrubs or Chandler/Joey when talking about bromance but to me Shore and Crane will always be the epitome of a friendship. Ludicrous, fun, fighting, loving and desperately profound at times.
Wow, Scrubs you just say the one word, but Chandler and Joey get listed out. You can at least call them by their names: Scrubs and Black Scrubs.
@@werefrogofassyria6609 Lmao
look at Alan's body language when Denny is talking, you can see he listens and gives him his full attention.
great writing and acting
While wondering how crazy he really is.
Come to think of it.... What if shatner was brought in as one of the Blacklisters in the Blacklist? Epic😂😂😂😂😂😂
This needs to happen before The Blacklist is over! Imagine this.
Denny Crane (No. 5)
Plot twist - what if blacklist ends with Raymond being Alan Shore!
At least as a lawyer Denny never loses
@@kickass80000 too bad it has now ended
Great idea!!!
I'm old fashioned. Very few people are allowed to see my emotions. Ever. That's how I was raised. But this scene, between two men, saying the kinds of things they're saying to one another is GOLDEN! I suppose it's due to the two actors saying the lines. So well acted, and the lines so well delivered...and the body language. This scene is off the chain terrific!
I have to say that this is some really deep and meaningful dialog between these two great Men.
Both are so profoundly HONEST in what they say, and how they feel.
Alan has a REAL, REAL point when he responds to Denny, and so True. I mean society is sometimes so superficial, that things have lost their meaning.
This scene is honestly worthy of anything Shakespeare or anyone ever said. I mean it's supposed to be like a legal comedy/drama show, but so many times it had some really incredible writing and GRAVITAS.
What great acting.
Real friendship.
I. LOVE. THIS. SHOW.
This scene would have gotten an Emmy if it was aired today.
My best friend passed away almost 20 years ago. He got hit by a train as he was walking along the rails because he was running late for work and the way along the rails was the shortest distance beween his home and the train station. I miss that stupid fool everyday ...
My little brother passed away while crossing the street to go to work a year ago. He was killed by a drunk driver. I'm sorry for your loss.
Sorry to hear, COVID took away my best friend.
"I don't want you on my balcon- on ANY balcony! Alone! With that man!"
"Ok."
One of the most perfectly scripted, acted, and written series we will ever get to see in our lifetime.

Alan is overwhelmed and looks out the window to confess his love. When he looks back at Denny his voice gets rougher and rougher with emotion. Denny quickly has to look out the window. Beautiful.
That was a beautiful scene. As a man we are not always in touch with our feelings especially expressing love for a friend and a profund love for a friend at that. I once had a friend like that. Sadly he was killed in front of me and bled to death in my arms. This was 31 years ago I loved him dearly and still think about him. My brother was killed the following year and I didn't grieve for him the way I grieved over my best friend. I miss him terribly. I have not found a friend like that since,
I hope you find someone you can share a connection like that with again.
@@kylewinton3226 Thank you
I lost my best friend of kindergarten in 2002. I just turned 41 this past February, and I still miss him... everyday.
I lost my best friend to COVID in last April. I can totally feel what you guys are going through. It’s just unbearable and no one can take their place
@@AmreshTripathi I'm sorry for your loss
Gifted writers and actors.
I’m wondering if it’s just me or did that particular scene just manage to pull at my heart ❤️ strings. I just happened to start watching Boston Legal a few weeks ago, really just for the comedy, then I saw this scene. This beautiful scene between Denny and Alan reminds me how truly precious a good friend is, we should all be fortunate to have at least one true friend in our lives. Once you find someone who is loyal, kinda sane and a great listener.. hold on tight 😉
I have one friend like this. Numbers of friends are a nonsense. Quality is all..
Careful not to become needy
It is a rarity I like the (spec ies) of the dinosaur that live no more. At times we are strange species, but nevertheless it is true I had a friend, but he has passed away, now that's a piece of me I wish my friend was still here.
QQA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!QQQQQQQQQQQQQQ!+
@@billwilliam8146 I'm so glad you had him, and I'm very sorry for your loss. I know exactly how it feels, BILL.
Pure brilliance! Writing, acting, set, music…all of it.
As somebody in committed bromantic relationship, this scene really hits it on the head. It's exactly like a full romantic relationship, but without sex. You get jealous when others get close, or provide support that you cannot. You need to be their "the one" for mental support and friendship. Of course, it's healthy to recognize when others are doing for your best friend what you cannot. This type of relationship often forms between those who have difficulty attaching to women romantically, whether because they're just bad at it or see them purely as sex objects
Gosh - does the acting get any better! Two of the best actors on the same screen...I just love them!!!
What kills me is the framing in this scene.
Spader and Shatner are positioned in opposite directions. You see them speak to each other, but it's not direct. They're facing each other, but not directly - just in the foreground and background.
This entire conversation happens while they're facing apart. And then at the end, Spader turns and tells Shatner - "You're my best friend, Denny. I couldn't imagine a life without you". That's the moment of reconciliation, and he meets Denny face to face. That's where the relationship is repaired.
And afterwards, Shatner turns towards the window where Spader is staring. He sets his conditions, but in that moment, they've reconnected and their relationship is back. He doesn't concede to Spader's actions - he's clear about his needs. But he shares Spader's sentiment. He accepts his apology. And they share the same view as friends - one united vision.
And the SCORE dude. The score fucks severely.
This is my favourite scene from these two great actors because when I look at this, It reminds me of one of my best friends I had.
who is the other man denny is talking about? from which episode is this?
@@jaimendonsa8557 hes talking about Alan. The bond those two share in the show is remarkable..thats my analysis
@@jaimendonsa8557 Also Denny was jealous at the fact the "other guy" hes referring too, Denny thought that "the other guy" was gonna steal his friendship away from Denny

I have looked all over for this scene! I adore Alan's sentiment, that "love" and "best friend" are thrown around too much. Thank you so much for uploading!! ♥️
who is the other man denny is talking about? from which episode is this?
@@jaimendonsa8557 I'm sure you already know this answer since it's been a year. But if not, they're talking about Jerry. Around this time in the show, Alan took Jerry under his wing and I think he impressed Alan enough for them to go hang out on Denny's balcony.

@@davidross5593 Hmm, not enough characterisation for me.
It was so sad when this show ended. Is was great ! ✌
World’s best bromance.
Sherlock homes and John Watson too
Right behind jd and turk.
mmm really? Harvey spectre and Mike Ross? Sherlock homes and watson? Ant and Dec? Kirk and Spock? Howard and Raj? Dean and Castiel? Chandler and Joey? JD and turk is the epitemy of bromance. This isn't even in the top 10....
On TV... In real life see Eminem and 50cent
Now THAT'S a bromance.
Well, finally some nice words in this world.
It's very true this scene.
Years ago my best friend and I worked silly hours for different jobs. When the day was done, we would meet at the same bar each night, have a couple of pints rehash the day and go home.
I miss those days like hell!
I bet you do man.
Under "friendship", Webster's should simply write...Denny Crane and Allen Shore
There's a sweet honesty in the fact that Alan admits that there are some emotional needs that are fulfilled by his other friend that he doesn't get from Denny, but that doesn't mean that he doesn't value Denny's friendship nevertheless, and certainly values it far more.
That is so. fucking. beautiful.
it could be a cigar, a jigger of scotch, or a cup of coffee. but catching up with friends is everything in life. boston legal illustrates that brilliantly.
Brings a tear...
It strikes me that the subtle message is that neither Denny nor Alan could be successful in a long term relationship with a women because of the obsession with sex. Since their friendship did not involve sex, it grew and evolved as a parallel to what most people get from a significant other/spouse. Great writing, great acting.
This was just wonderful. Thank you.
They need a series like this back, I watch suits, but it doesn't have an Alan or denny.
I loved BOSTON LEGAL ❤️
the ultimate bromance
Denny Crane! Thanks for this, sent it to my best friend lol, I love Boston Legal, watching it through for 2nd time, first time i watched it i changed my name for a week on tik tok to Denny Crane and in vids and live did the whole persona, even had a presidential battle for Crane as president, lmao, but thank you for posting this amazing video, made my day. Also I love your message at the end but you need to put a Denny Crane loophole in lol
Take care
So frigging awesome and relatable
I re missed that show. My favorite hands down.
That Balcony and Chair are strictly exclusive for Pink Flamingos Only ok -- Denny Crane!
Omg, forgot how great this show is, best ever!!! ❤️❤️❤️
And it’s here we see foreshadowed the eventual marriage of Denny Crane and Alan Shore!
Shatner's book Up Til Now bought me here. He wrote that this is the scene BL fans point to as best describing the relationship between Denny and Alan.
Would be nice if he revived his character as an older senior partner in his own law firm ...and bigger and badder than ever ........that's a show I would love to see happen.... older and more obnoxious than ever before ....
Blacklist needs to end so Spader can come back as Alan Shore
There are hours and hours of garbage shows one is able to watch with caned laughter, bad dialogue and just D rated actors. Although some parts of the story line in some episodes Boston Legal are "corny at times" it is scenes like this that bring a level of class and realness to a show that is totally (mostly) fictions. Watch the body language, listen to the flow of the words and the tones of the voices, makes this scene see so real. I do not get the slightest whiff of acting here and that is REAL ACTING.
What even happened to the show? It was SO SOOOOO good!
Damnit who is cutting onions in here
While neither my best friend or I have a balcony, we do have porches. A great joy in live is sitting one one of those porches, our wives having a glass of wine while my best friend and I have cigars and glasses of good scotch, all while looking up at the night and searching for shooting stars.
That was so cool.
They both found eath other, later in life, and became brothers.
It is a beautiful scene.
On any balcony alone with that man!😂
Denny Crane and Alan Shore: Forever Friends and Flamingoes.
Dam.... these two actors are in a different league.
P O W E R F U L 😊 True Friendship is difficult to find these days and WAY Too easily discounted. We should all strive to find and cherish our "Flamingo" in this life.
A true love affair for the ages! I loved those two together.
Great writers
So Powerful
The most bromantic scene in history.
So beautiful 💖
Relationship Goals.
Greatest love story in TV history…no sex needed😏
The unique situation here is that In modern tv, you don’t have friendships between men being portrayed with the same passion, intimacy and veracity-yet- not romantic-- which is on par, If not directly parallel to those shared by female characters in scripted dramas… these two men are experiencing a loving intimate relationship that you see all the time like on Grays Anatomy or even in the past like with The Golden Girls. The commentary here is that there isn’t any-- it just two loving ppl who care about each other so deeply without having some sort of sexual or romantic element, while also breaking the norms of them having to be Gay or female to achieve such earnest intimacy. American entertainment, even today still pushes trending stereotypes or agendas and acts within the realms of conventionally gendered roles even with masculine male characters -- and even with that-- that it has to be in a comedic context in order for it to be permissible-- or assumed homoerotica in order to make sense. But that’s Hollywood for you, that’s popular social media and certain groups in PC culture that actually push a polarizing ideology that limits the intimacy of ppl to romance or to a particular sex/gender/sexual orientation… Hollywood still profits off of the idea that a straight man can’t be intimacy with a man or a woman, without a sexual element, or his sexuality must be more than heterosexual, to be believable, in fiction.
I have a feeling that Kirk wanted to have one of these types of moments with Spock.
Not logical
He did. Ship, out of danger :)
Best written show ever!
He looked dissapointed not to get the kiss..... You should allways make time to kiss the homies. Well not so much during this pandemic but still...
Gahhhhh!!! Where can I find this show??? None of the streaming services I have seem to have it! I guess I’m just going to have to order it on DVD and just get the entire series
I kept waiting for the paint guns to come out
They really needed better insulation and sound proofing for that office building
I see ... So they used the Spock and Kirk dynamic ... Interesting.
Few friends take the time to talk - translation: few ‘friends’ engages in dialog. One talks and the other listens. Shrug🤷♀️ ‘best friend has. O meaning, my more…’ words have no meaning. All that counts is action.
NO matter what you said YOU INFRINGED AGAINST A COPYRIGHT CLAIM.
What song plays in s4 e13 when Shirley and Ivan are talking????
Who was the other man? I don't remember lol
And to think....they get married at the end of the series :D Regardless of the actual reason, it was always the only real outcome for these two.
I wish I had a male friendship like this.
Which is why the writers return to is so often.
Yeah but would he steal the enterprise to find his body and return his soul? Huh huh huh? Didn’t think so.
Denny snuck a gun into court to defend his friend. Stealing the Enterprise? Absolutely he would. DENNY CRANE.
I need more context!
I dont feel this way in my marriage ,yet these guys are lucky enough to find it in the workplace.
Im so jealous!!!
And if it weren't for legalized same-sex marriage, Denny and Alan could never have wed.

Jerry Espenson in season 3, episode 9. Denny saw Alan and Jerry drinking on the balcony.
