You can make an ice pool on you island to grind ice to unlock the ice minion. Just use the biome stick from spruce collection after making a pool about 20 by 7 1 block deep. Then get a pick with silk touch and circle around that outside edge and break the ice as it spawns. It will not take long to unlock the minion.
