Joscho playing a Maton... Whoaaaa
Joscho,Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!
Very nice!!
Photogenic down and dirty, short and sweet lesson. You teach as well as you play maestro.
Great video Joscho!
Django and I are very similar, I have only 3 fingers on my left hand now. After 48 years to learn a new style is a little daunting, but here goes!
What precious gems from a precious gem!
Thank you Joscho for this lesson. It's a gift for us

Brudal, der Hammer! Wirklich super, vielen vielen Dank aus Hessen
This is way over my head. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us.
You can do it
I would love to hear you and Andy Wood jam together. That right hand of yours is a machine Joscho
Bravo tutorial!! A musician is one who organizes sounds, noise, pitch, tones, space and time. Pro tip: Even though the notes and beats usually get all the attention, the space, gaps, rests and margins between those notes and beats "is" music also. It's important that even the "silence" has to be heard. And there are moments when you also have to control your adrenaline when performing. A great deal of music also involves "ghost notes" and/or the "placebo effect".
Дякую, Йошо!
Great to see such a master sharing his knowledge! Thank you
Definitely CGP
Generosity 🎉 Thank you❤
Me a resultado muy interesante, sobre todo e incorporado 2 conceptos muy útiles, 1 utilizar el yeite mismo como celula ritmica y trasladarlo a otras frases. 2 el tip N4 es el mas importante.
Gracias Joscho =)
wow, you've obtained the cgp aspect that started with chet atkins. congrats!
Could you please say "Get to the Chopper" on your next video :) thanks
Greatly appreciate your generosity. What is your plectrum caliber, please?
Tolles Video! Danke! Jetzt muss ich nur noch wissen, wo der Kessel mit dem Zaubertrank steht! ;-)
Thanks this was a great lesson. What a lesson should have no matter the subject.
Speed, technical, timing, spacing, rhythm is does the piece we are learning sound enjoyable? This did!
Nice to see Joscho is a CGP.
Thanks a lot! Really. I am practicing it. Just a little feedback about video edition, in 1:48 It might be interesting to place the thumbnail (of the left hand) on the right side of the screen. And the zoom in (of the right hand) on the left side. Basically to keep seeing a guitar, and not have to cross my eyes in an opposite diagonal to the one I'm used to. But It's a really tiny detail compared to the valuable musical information! Thanks.
i wonder, what gauge of strings are you using on flattop?
I love u...and Bireli, Angelo and Tchavolo
Hi guys, what Maton is Joscho playing? It's CGP, but black nut, slightly brighter fretboard and mainly no kangaroo! :)
It’s the Tommy Signature Modell!
@@JoschoStephan Many thanks for reply and greetings from CZ to DE! I also have and love my TE signature Maton, but you know, the kangaroo is the kangaroo :)
👌
guys, I have a question. Please, help) It is Dm harmonic, right? But why we can play it over A7?
It has the C# in it, (3rd string, 6th fret), which is the 3rd of the A7 chord. Being that the 3rd of the chord is the note that determins the quality of a chord, the D harmonic minor scales works over the A7 chord with no problem.
I am wondering what makes this a lick over A7, given that it seems to be based on a Dm scale (?), hence, is it because as D is the V of A it resolves to A? If so, could I construct a major lick that did the same by playing C sharp instead of C?
After several hours I can play this about as fast as Joscho's slow speed, perhaps a little faster. I do however either use my fingers or my thumb as I can use a pick to save my life as I will always drop it after a bar or two. I have never figured out how people manage to hang on to them for minutes.
I will answer my own question then, now I realise that I was confused about my modes, momentarily. The lick is based on A Phrygian, that is why it supports A7. I have worked at this for a week and the best I can do fingerpicking is about 100 bpm it is however my LH that is slowing me down as I can fingerpick with two fingers much faster.
Hey Joscho. But mm as far as I can see you`r showing your own pick-style. For example when you pick the 4 note (A on the first string) well then you do it with an upstroke and not with a downstroke, wich woukd be the standard way to pick in gypsy jazz picking -
Maton has a good tone for gypsy
Very useful stuff. Thanks! I must admit that I'm a bit baffled though. I have just spent many years learning the "Gypsy" right hand technique; i.e., predominantly down strokes, and down strokes on all string changes, as employed by Stochelo, Angelo De Barr, Fappy, Tchavalo, etc. Now, in your case, that's all out the window. Any comments?
Hey Nathan, yes you are absolutely right - but this lick isn't a gypsy-swing lick, so we can open up our technique and use alternate picking. It's a lick in the style of Tommy Emmanuel ;)
@@JoschoStephan Thanks for the reply Joscho! I didn't want to throw the baby out with the bath water; That makes it perfectly clear. If this lick is good enough for You and Tommy, I can certainly abide. Cheers!
@@JoschoStephan Talking about TE, you're playing a Maton with the letters CGP inlaid... was it borrowed from him? I love your common version of "Something".
The neck is absolutely beautiful, which wood is it made of ?
Thanks for caring (I'm talking about the lesson, too :-)
Blessings from France!

@@JoschoStephan i see.. thanks you
I'm almost there to avail your lessons, financially, one thing however, I am not much educated in reading notes, is there a part of a lesson in knowing to read notes? Tnks sir
Hey, sure. There are two options if you have problems reading music. 1) Just watch the video lessons - everything you need to know will be explained to you - note by note ;)
2) Use the TABs in the sheet music.
Where is the sheet part to get the tabs . Thnks a lot sir
Finally Joscho! Thanks for your effort 😁 greetings from the Philippines, it's nice seeing you using a Maton Guitar with C.G.P Logo on it 😁
quisiera verte tocar bachata
Auf Deutsch wäre Toll 😏 Great Job 😎 TCB 😎 thanks for the Video 😎 TCB 😎
Wenn Joscho sagt, er spielt extra langsam und Du aber auf 0,25 Speed das Video gucken musst. 🤣👍
JS " if you have a problem with your pinky finger you can...
" Me "I've been playing for 30 years and I have a problem with all my fingers when trying "a faster (JS ) tempo"
Tommy wondering who stole is axe.
Could player who has no experience to gypsy jazz subscribe your class!?
Hey, sure - everything will be explained in detail, so the music style isn't any barrier. But you should be able to play some guitar before joining the academy :)
Hi,how many of your student ask you this:
