You don’t know how timely this is! I’ve been working with clients in therapy in addressing their mother wounds and definitely want to incorporate some of these into my work to help them with processing and addressing those relationships! If you have any Father issue reccs….👀👀
Funnily enough Katherin Centers "Bodyguard" actually has some underlying mummy issues about the main characters mother who struggled with and ultimately died from her alcoholism and about the abuse both of then suffered from the men in her mothers life. This being a lighthearted romance, it doesn't go super deep into the topics, but I found it to be very relatable in terms of how mummy issues aren't always at the forefront of our everyday but for most of us, me included, simmer beneath the surface and come up when we least expect it.
I was just about to recommend her! I discovered her a while back and she's amazing for anyone interested in this niche. Her prose is delectable and you WILL need tissues. Just wanted to come and second your recc, for anyone reading the comments.
I feel so SEEN! Thanks for talking about generational trauma//the experience for children of immigrants//mommy issues…it’s so complex and not talked about enough! I’m trying to break the cycle for my own kid. 🫶🏽
Hello! First of all thank you for all your content, it's always a joy for me when I see a new video from you poping on my screen. 😊 I was looking for exactly that type of books, so thanks a lot for the recomandations! Love from France! 😊
Amazing recommendations! And thank you for your review of A Woman is No Man, I was also crying so much throughout the book and made me understand my mom more. Thank you for creating your book club because I probably would have never found this novel. Also, your shirt is so pretty, lavender looks so nice on you ✨
I loved Rouge! I just finished the audiobook which I would highly recommend! I will definitely need to check out Woman Eating and You Exist Too Much! Thanks for the recs!
my recommendation would be “Just for the summer” by Abby Jimenez, despite it being advertised as a cute fun romance, it actually deals with some pretty heavy topics, one of them being mommy issues 😅 it’s a new release and such a delight!
Elenor ophiliant is perfectly fine (not sure if that’s the correct title) has mommy issues. I personally didn’t really like the book but that’s an unpopular opinion. Lots of people like it.
I'm only halfway through your video so idk if you've mentioned this one or not but the book, Breath, Eyes, Memory by Edwidge Danticat fits this topic... mommy issues & generational trauma, beautifully written & heartbreaking
You should check out these books The first time she drowned by Kerry kettler I read this book in 2016 I absolutely enjoyed it I still think about after these years One summer in Savannah by terah shelton Harris just recently read this it's So inspiring and a nonfiction book tell me everything by minka Kelly memoir she talks about her relationship with her mother and about her life I was so moved by this book
I asked for this specific video a few times and KNEW you'd give the best recs! I'd add Milk Fed by Melissa Broder to this list. That one kinda healed me in some way.
mommy issues book recs for mother's day is WILD 😂😂😩😩💚
My thoughts exactly!! Yet here we are watching it! 😂 She’s so creative ❤

Amy Tan has lots of mommy issue books, most of which deal with the immigration experience! Her own mother stories are pretty wild, too

I had to stop reading Raybearer because the toxic relationship between the main character and her mother hit far too close to home for comfort. 😅
A book I recently read that I think definitely fits with this theme is Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng- so good!!
I saw the title and I ran here!!!!
