I'm blown away by this product, I ordered it through Amazon and received it in less than 2 weeks, I hooked it up to my PC and downloaded the drivers and in less than 1 minute I literarly picked up DOZENS of free WIFI hotspots from Starbucks, 3 Hospitals, Mcdonalds, Public library, the Free Business assosiacion commercial strip of businneses in the Brooklyn, NY area where I live. It even have me a nice boost in speed. I have no problem with this produck. 2 big thumbs up.

that is generally the idea of this this... it picks up a signal then boosts it to your pc, so in short, plug it in at your place, search for his SID, get his pass code and your set.

Did you try connecting the usb antenna to a different usb port on your computer/laptop? When connecting this antenna to any windows computer the operating system should detect 'new hardware' and attempt to install drivers for it.

I believe this is just an antenna type device. You would need to connect this to a Repeater to share it with multiple devices. With that said, you would want to make sure the repeater was compatible with the level of IOS running on iphone. or the OS running on an android phone.

it's an adapter too, it of course will allow you to pick up signals just at longer range

probably not. most router USB ports are for external storage devices like external hard drives, USB drives or to be used with some printers; not for a USB Wifi antenna. You should check your router user manual for information about what to use with that routers USB port.
did you get an answer on this mate? cause i want to know the same thing...I am sharing my internet with my landlord via wi-fi. It drops out some times, so hense me looking into this. But to answer your question, and i am just thinking logically here... by the sounds of things, the USB is only power as there is no other power source to the unit. Updates comes from your pc, so if it is set up, it should update automatically. Since your USB on your ROuter/modem is also just power, technically the unit should power up and boost your signal... Though, i would think you'd have to set it up first on the computer with a direct USB link, then after you got it working, plug it then into your router/modem

Not sure what software it comes with bit try virtual router manager, free software but you'll need a second wifi card for it to work, if your using a laptop it's inbuilt one should work or failing that any cheep £2 one from ebay

I'd like to use this antenna at my house where I have an Ipad and a phone that uses wifi where available. My neighbors allow me to use their signal, but I don't get good reception. I was hoping to get something like this product to get the signal, but I don't understand how to make it broadcast in my house. Neither of my devices have a usb port. Would I need a wireless router that accepts a usb? Is there another device that I would need to make this work? Any help appreciated

@@GalaxyTechReview so right now I have Hughes Net and I configured it to the 2.4GH cuz the 5GH network isn't showing ho and it's averaging 1MBPS and i don't know what to do it's not really helping

No. You need to connect it to your computer. But if your computer has its own wifi card built in you can use that as a repeater to share the connection to mobile device's.

I figured out how to do it.... If you download www.mediatek.com/en/downloads1/downloads/ the mediatek firmware, the newest one, Install it then when installed youll see a client mode, if you right click it then hit switch to AP and you can set up an access point :)
