    We bought the Alfa Camp Pro Kit. Comes with everything you need. I've used it for almost a year. Super reasonable cost compared to competitors and works great. Stay safe.

    Wow, that seems like a really nice addition to your "Must have gadgets"! You're absolutely right about having a proper line of sight when dealing with digital signals! Im very glad you're happy overall with your new product Joe! This should be a added bonus when exporting videos in those more remote areas...Cheers buddy!

      +roberto abrams well we're still SOL in remote areas. I've probably picked signals up at 1/2 mi off or so but the signal was good enough to send email but no videos considering they're about 1-2+ gig each. It is a godsend though when I can see a signal on the laptop but can't connect - then we're in business. Thanks man!!

    Good info, thanks for sharing. Just FYI ~ I got the exact same equipment from Rokland for $88 as opposed to $125 from Techno RV. They give very clear instructions as well.

    Add a yagi ant. for distance . Yes TechnoRV was FANTASTIC !!! I highly recommend them !!

    What comes to mind is line of sight, directional antenna, high frequency, water, signal loss thru cabling and parabolic antennae.

    How about a diagram on how the alfa R36 works with the Alfa router? which end goes to laptop. Which device do you setup 1st Alfa router or Alfa R36?

  • @lebon2002be
    @lebon2002be 7 лет назад +1

    I have the same setup, (R36 + awus036h), for very long distances you can use a 20ft telescopic pole with a Yagi 25db connected to your awus036h.PS. The Alfa awus036h although it's "only" a B/G adapter, it's the most sensible I ever tested so far. Wonderful !Thanks for the review !Cheers,Roger.

    I noticed your booster and repeater are both white....the pics im finding of the booster show it to be "green" ...I want to buy the white one...where on amazon can I get a white one? did they change the color of them or is there different colorsof them?

    Please reply to me. I plan on buying a Wi-Fi repeater, but I don't know if there are compatibility issues.

      +The Deprey's we're considering Alfas boosted antenna for this - I think it's like $10 on Amazon.

    I appreciated the review. Being an Apple user this has caught my attention. I'll check out TechnoRV's web site and consider this for future use while travelling. My biggest issue right now is ordering anything from the US because of the high exchange rate on CDN dollar. Currently running around 30%. OUCH!!! That is what prevented me from heading south this past winter when the rate was as high as 48%. :O . Hopefully it will level off soon.
    PS: I just checked out TechnoRV's site and the prices were not as bad as I expected. That is actually doable even with the exchange rate. :)

    • @Weretherussos
      @Weretherussos  8 лет назад +1

      +ka1133 it's very reasonable and if you want to super charge the system consider their larger antenna.

    I have both those units and still have not setup them up due to the terrible instructions. Where can I get your easy to follow instructions to setup?

    Great video! I have a question. Does this work for public WiFi that you need to login as a guest or accept a webpage terms and conditions page before accessing the WiFi?

    • @Weretherussos
      @Weretherussos  4 года назад +1

      Yes it does. Since you have to be connected to the WiFi to see the login/accept page, once you open your browser, you should see the login.

    Nice review. Have you considered a roof mounted solution? They can be even better and more powerful especially with the line of site issues you mentioned.

    • @theSoz
      @theSoz 8 лет назад

      *sight not site.

    • @Weretherussos
      @Weretherussos  8 лет назад +1

      A roof mounted antenna might be in our future and the cool thing is that it would still work with our repeater. The thing holding us back is that it would require another hole in the roof to bring the cord through (or find some other way to bring it in).

    • @EarlBalentine

      Get a flat cable that works thru your window.

    • @dawnmichelle1835
      @dawnmichelle1835 7 лет назад

      Could you bring it in via the slide and use the industrial suction cup like technomadia suggest? We don't have a slide but that made me think that was a way to avoid making holes...

    Thanks for the video, Joe. It’s right on point with what I’m looking for in finding a reliable solution for having wifi when my wife and I head out in a couple of months for extended traveling in our Lance 1475 trailer. One question if you see this...is this your sole solution for Internet, or do you also have a dedicated hotspot through your cell phone provider? Trying to figure out if I can get by with one or the other, or whether I should have both. Thanks for your helpful and interesting videos!

    • @Weretherussos

      You're welcome Dave. We used this almost exclusively when we were in our Class A. If we couldn't get wifi, we would go to a Starbucks and work from there. Now that we have our Verizon Unlimited data plan, we use that all the time and our weBoost cell booster: amzn.to/2hainBX

    Thought this was just what I needed so I ordered the booster and repeater. It arrived quickly and I set it up but could not get it working. I put a call in to TechnoRV--turns out the only person who does tech support on these is the owner who was at a rally all week. We finally connected but he was not able to help. He put a call into his supplier for assistance but they hadn't gotten back to him almost a week later. So sadly I am returning the booster and repeater for a full refund. I may have received defective equipment but the owner says that's rare. In any event, I am still shopping for something that will work.

      Sorry to hear that - good luck shopping and check out Technomadia and their reviews.

      It needs 12v, don‘t matter how you get it to it!

    Based on your recommendation I purchased the Alfa AWUS036NH and R36. I have a basic question that I think your other followers may also have.
    I plugged in the units and I was immediately able to connect to the R36 with my iPad, but unable to connect to our wifi network. The user instructions say to connect to a PC via ethernet, then point the browser to the provided IP address. My Mac doesn't have ethernet, so before I ask a friend with a PC to help me configure it, I'd like to know if a PC is only necessary to do the initial configuration, or required each time I wish to connect to a new wifi network? My goal is to use this as I travel and I will only have an iPad with me. So if I do the configuration initially, will my wife and I be able to connect wirelessly with our iPads and iPhones from then on?
    Love your videos, BTW. Keep up the good work!

    • @Weretherussos
      @Weretherussos  6 лет назад

      No, you don't need a PC and can do it from your phone or iPad. Once connected to the R36 go to: 192.168.2.1/ and from there you can select your wifi and enter a password.

    Nice video but it sounded like a paid advertisement. Did you get this setup free for doing this video?

    • @Weretherussos
      @Weretherussos  8 лет назад

      +ZeebNinja we were given the products by TechnoRV in exchange for an honest review. Had we not liked the product we would have included that in our review.

    • @ZeebNinja
      @ZeebNinja 8 лет назад

      I just expect all bloggers to be honest, right from the get go about what we are hearing. I realize you guys are here to make money via RUclips and advertising, but just make sure your loyal followers know the back story. I enjoy following you guys.

    • @Weretherussos
      @Weretherussos  8 лет назад +1

      +ZeebNinja Thank you for the feedback. We include a disclosure in the video description and at the end of all of our articles if we were given the product free of charge. Although we get the product for free, we aren't paid in any way to make the video, we're always 100% honest in our review. We have turned down a number of products when the company stated they required a "positive" review.
      We really appreciate you following us and we'll consider working something into future videos to let people know if/when we receive a product for free.
