    Thank you kindly dear Andy, this is great. Richard T has always been my hero - and I do play the guitar fairly well - but never got into the tuning variants. This is a very fundamental instruction you are giving - well done. Quite a bit eerie tuning, transforms the guitar, perfect for the song. RT must've been using the DADGAD as well.

      For ages this tuning sounded wrong to me. I was alone one New Year with the flu and decided I was going to crack it! Once you have got used to it things are pretty straightforward. I think the biggest problem with these tunings is that people expect them to be more complex than standard. Thanks for the comments - I might do some more!

      @@AndyHowell Pardon for asking, but I saw that you had some score, or perhaps tabs, for patterns for improvising. Would this be sth you could upload again? :) /Hakan

    Andy, Any chance that your mics could be reloacted such that they don'r obscure part of the fretboard. Otherwise an excellent video tutorial.

      This channel is a bit of a mis-match really but I intend to put more guitar stuff up! hate the video element though!

      It's wonderful once you master the art of breathing through your scalp

    • @AndyHowell
      @AndyHowell  6 лет назад +1

      Funny you should say that. I've started going back to a conventional stereo set up predominantly because I can hear too much breathing. I do find though that on a jumbo like mine the Nashville setup tames the bass a bit. I must experiment more. But it's bad enough just playing with audio!

    • @MichaelWatts
      @MichaelWatts 6 лет назад +1

      I think the Nashville style also implies a standing player which means that the lower mic is not pointing directly up your nostrils. For a seated guitarist you do need a snorkel. That Lucas sounds lovely though.

    maan, you are awesome! really thanks for this lesson.
    but... why do you play this wonderful arrangement and the notes on the tab are so few and make the music looks so empty?

    • @AndyHowell

      Basic _ it is for you to fill in the gaps!

    • @AndyHowell

      years ago I took lessons from Martin Simpson. One of the bits of advice that stayed with me for years was 'play less notes'. Give yourself space for the notes to ring!

    Looks uncomfortable that guitar. Lower bout position looks a bit pokey

    • @AndyHowell
      @AndyHowell  5 лет назад +2

      Not at all. The guitar has a Manzer wedge which makes it pretty comfortable. Forget the size of the main bout the comfort is in the sound hole/polaying position. As comfortable a guitar as I have owned!

      It was never meant to be a complete tab just an idea as to where to go. Being as the tunes have the same chord structure - they do sound the same !!!
