Yes, I think the maker of the video should grasp that most people watching the video has a good basic understanding of how chords work up and down the fret board.
I would love to explore this tuning in more detailed, comprehensive way...maybe like a very structured course on dadgad fingerstyle blues/jazz/classical, etc...maybe learn to compose in this tuning...any suggestions?
I really wanna know which bridge pins and why this teacher put this way. I guess it's brass for bass ones and ebony/plastic for treble ones? Does he believe that each pin affects each particular string? Or do they balance the whole sound? Or is it just for the great look? And what is the nut material? Is it TUSQ? Doesn't seem like a bone to me.
Wow, DADGAD demystified. DADGAD open sounds like a standard Dsus4. I figured out that a standard E9th is E7 in DADGAD. To get a 9th from there just add your pinky to the 2nd string two frets up. I also find myself playing Norwegian Wood easily in this tuning.
I have to agree with the rest of your commenters... i look at a lot of these types of tutorials and find that before long i'm skipping around trying to find the 'meat' of the lesson ...nice job
Thanks Justin, I'm looking for this course in your Jam Play list, but I can't find it. It is just exactly what I need to learn! Is it still offered? I also have a question. I've been using a tuning where I tune both E strings down to D. Is that a conventional tuning, and do you cover it? Example: ruclips.net/video/wSOIx-t3FBk/видео.html Thanks
Useful but the 3-view display gets a bit tiring to concentrate upon when switching to and fro between that the instructor's head and head and shoulders.
I tuned to dadgad the other day, it sounded horrible, trying to play standard tuning chords…sort of stumbled onto this, and it sounded like Chinese! Why do you have to know so much, or be so experienced on guitar to play in another tuning? 🤦
It does look grotesque, but is necessary in playing certain styles. I just hope he keeps that thing clean. I'd hate for someone to get lockjaw because they didn't get their shots. 😜
CHUPASART 34 A bit of advice, take it or leave it: if you don’t understand an explanation, go and research unfamiliar terms and concepts, then listen to the explanation again. If it still doesn’t make complete sense, try the parts that do, and perhaps more of the explanation will make sense tomorrow. If none of these help, try asking questions to fill in the gaps in your knowledge and understanding. Had you done all that, you are guaranteed to have learnt at least something from this. What have you achieved from criticising and implying that you are bored (“Zzz”)? The impression that leaves to everyone else is one of a lazy student, not a bad teacher. I wish you all the best in your future musical studies.
Great intro, thanks for this post. You’re a clear and natural tutor who’s made this 77 year-old beginner very happy. Cheers, Justin.😊
Excellent. This is how to present a tuition video. No 'wassup', minimal preamble, clear and methodical - thanks for posting.

At last a man who knows how to present a tutorial and speak clearly and explain properly.
Thank you for opening my mind to this. Nice guitar too .

1000th like! Thanks and great video. Great variety of views as well.
I'm really impressed by that sound hole pick-up - what is that? Amazing acoustic sound!
It's a Sunrise pickup and you're not listening to it. The guitar is miked.

"Unless... you're gonna play some jazz in DADGAD" Don't judge me okay?
gREAT LESSON WELL EXPLAIN`ED

Celtic sounds amazing on a dobro guitar
BRO!!!
holy smokes that thumb nail
👍👽⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Steve wilson with beard!!
I am so glad someone is working with dadgad. I just hate the long nails on men, it disgusts me. Certainly someone could use a thumb pick.
Impressive, but I still know that Metal Gear is a Nuclear equipped, walking death machine.
Boom
Yikes, that guitar needs a setup
I have enough trouble watching one guitar let alone me three
GG
I can’t tell if his guitar is WAY out of tune, or if he just has the world’s worst intonation..

No disrespect, but that literal thumbnail is a tad cringe worth
you know it's fake, right?
It does look grotesque, but is necessary in playing certain styles.
I just hope he keeps that thing clean. I'd hate for someone to get lockjaw because they didn't get their shots. 😜
Great lesson, no disrespect but, the huge thumbnail kinda gross tho..maybe a thumbpick..?
the jamplay website is a disaster , very badly laid out.
Zzz to much for novice take in
