surely, the made-in-japan solos are great throughout, the best live album ever, and I'm already sure Jun is the best to cover Blackmore solos, no doubt. but remember, Blackmore played this version only _once_, and he never rehearsed it, he improvised it! Sure, he could not repeat it if you asked him, but he would play something different, but also great. That's the real reason why he is my favourite.
Ye Gods. And following it with Bach's cantata147. Firstly a comment from an old session musician: you are one damn fine player. Secondly, this is blindingly good and very close indeed to the original. Rumour had it that Ritchie was a bit of a motorhead at the time of this tour - one must remember in those days amphetamines were still being sold over-the-counter in many countries. To come close to emulating and projecting the excitement in this particular white-knuckle-ride solo is frankly awesome. Thirdly and finally, I didn't know this music still had fans. It is monstrous, self-indulgent, and brilliant. Horrible and beautiful in the way that Wagner would have been had he lived through the music of those times. As FZ said: "You can't do that on stage any more". After this, and your brilliant take on Page's "Achilles..." why not set yourself another challenge: I'd love to see Bob Fripp's "Fracture" (from the album Starless and Bible Black) given this treatment. It is possibly the most difficult piece of popular guitar music written during this period. I am, and remain a fan. I'm rather fond of Poor Mad Ritchie's playing too. A seriously under-rated player nowadays.
This is what I love about youtube - you learn something new every day? I didn't even know about scalloped fretboards untill watching this then jumping on Google. Awsome solo dude..
I watch this video over and over again since you posted it. Not only it is splendid, wonderful, absolutly more perfect than Ritchie hisself... what superlative you want, but it's excellent for learning to play it.
Only one word to describe jun. Godly. everytime he adds something, its too perfect for words, everything he does is like studio quality thanks jun, every time i watch your videos i learn something
hey Jun, this is even a better version, its just crazy to watch the way you play!!! I find Blackmore's style kinda hard, its not easy to sound like him, but you play just like him!!! Btw its cool to know even now what kind of picks you use, I would have never guessed, I use thin and medium picks keep rockin my friend! \m/
jun626 you are JUST PLAIN AWESOME. And I loved how you added the reference stuff this time. That answers all the questions for curious minds, doesn't it? Thanks for doing this song. Reminds me of my high school days rockin' to Machine Head!
i dont understand how a solid state amp with a multi effects unit makes such a great tone with that strat. Guess tone is really in the hands. Great Work here Jun
Jun my mom was outside my door talking to my brother and she thought i was actually watching the really Version And she came in and was like woow!!! GREAT JOB!!
Love it Jun... One of the best and my favorite solos. Your the top... I also love the data page at the end but you forgot to add to the list the 20 years of hard work and practice that you put in to achieve your master performance.
Damn, I'm surprised to say that, but you are improving Oo. I didn't know it was possible, but you seem better that never ! That was absolutly incredible !!!
Great twist on the original solo, this totally blew the original out of the water. If you could give a link to a tab, that would be greatly appreciated
I tryed the given amp settings with a marshall mg100hdfx. My start has the lace sensor golds. It is not bad tone. I thought at first that the high gain would mess up the sound but due to the low treble and bass setting it is good. I added some more treble though and changed the dly to reverb. Yet your sound is more edge-y than mine.
You got it exact! Wish I could play that good, damn! The only differences I hear are in the backing tracks. R.B. had one of the best Strat/Marshall tones ever, Jim Marshall could hear him down the street at the bowling alley (true story).
jun626. You are honestly the greatest guitarist I have ever seen play(except for page lol!!!) But seriouslyly your awesome so im gonna subscribe. thanks for the entertainment.
Jun, lovely.
Really nice to see that video of equipment settings and close up of guitar parts.

We all know Richie played it a little different every time, and as equally brilliant. Your version is simply fantastic mate. Respect.

that last part with the wobbly whammy sounds so sweet. i need to learn this solo. thanks for the inspiration!
This is what I love about youtube - you learn something new every day? I didn't even know about scalloped fretboards untill watching this then jumping on Google. Awsome solo dude..
FANTASTIC! This solo is classic and you played it perfectly. Congratulations.
I wonder if Blackmore seen this. I heard he improvised on this version and never tried to copy.
I watch this video over and over again since you posted it.

Wonderful!!, and a perfect demonstration of sweep picking, amongst other techniques.
Thank you.
This is as close as anybody can come to sound and play like Ritchie himself.
Awesome and faved.

again and again ...
The made in Japan version is a bit different to Machine head isn't it?
it's like the hardcore mode version of this solo
Yep. It was played in "God Mode" . ☺
a little bit :D
I prefer it and the tone Blackmore had on Made in Japan was just magnificent.
ish I had at least one-quarter the talent you have!! Thanks for posting and post a helluva lot more, too!!
I think this is the best highway star cover ever !
Awesome work. Fantastic!!
i dont understand how a solid state amp with a multi effects unit makes such a great tone with that strat. Guess tone is really in the hands.
