When I got married I started attending the church my wife grew up in. In order to mature more in my faith, I had to do things on my own and couldn’t rely on Sunday services. The church had so many issues I couldn’t articulate at the time. I was drawn to pastors like John MacArthur who preaches the Bible verse by verse and calls himself a Bible teacher. The church I attended wasn’t a megachurch, but it had multiple campuses and the other campuses just watched a recorded video of the main pastor. It was surface level, too much time was spent on extra biblical interpretations of a passage and not the passage itself, and he often dressed up and did a one-man stage play of a character in the Bible. The list goes on. I think the best thing I did as a husband was to take my wife out of that church and find one that preaches the truth simply and honestly and doesn’t dress it up or sugarcoat it. The things you gentlemen have discussed over the years are giving me the words I needed to explain what I was feeling about that church and reinforces my belief that a church isn’t helping me to mature in my faith or is otherwise failing to teach, I need to leave. There are a lot of churches that aren’t swinging on wrecking balls or kicking bibles that seem good on surface level but still cater to the lost or are too afraid to go deep. It’s an unfortunate reality.

Absolutely, sir. We seem to be in the minority these days, but we hope that the podcast and the discussions we have are helpful to the Church and may even open some eyes. Thank you for your support!

Coming from OC California what you said was always my issue with "mega" churches. They have to keep the money flowing to keep the "lifestyle" that church has created, so they have to compromise. Had a sit down with my parents about their church when they showed they spent 1.2million on Sunday worship and 10k on local outreach. Seems a bit out of balance.
