Just allow third party lenses on rf. Canon prices are insane. Everyday i’m more tempted to just switch bodies. Sigma and Tamron lenses are so sharp and cost effective
@@ItsBerg Laowa, 7 artisans, TTArtisans, Surui, all make similar primes for significantly cheaper, plus they are mostly made of metal unlike plastic with Canon. Don't get me wrong the AF would be much better on some of the Canon lenses, but unless you are shooting action, you wouldn't notice.
@@finntheodore I get that, but they don’t have AF, weather sealing, or advanced optics and coatings. That’s what you’re paying for. Say whatever you want about the fact they’re not metal, Canon’s been known for their durability and weather resistance.
@@ItsBerg Yea man, to some degree I agree with that, I have a 70-300 ef lense which I use with the EF converter, made of metal and great performance. It's just a shame the new rf ones aren't also metal despite similar if not higher prices. If they are plastic, then surely they can lower prices further.
I shoot Canon and own and love most of their original RF lens releases. These are a big miss. The level of correction needed on them is insane for an L series. I don't even care about the cost just make them good.
Well, it sounds like in Canon's new world....those days are over. Software correction is key, it saves those expensive engineering hours and they are able to make them more affordable than ever "wink wink".
Every lens is a compromise, and reasons for designing a lens with uncorrected geometric distortion include lower cost, smaller size, lighter weight, reduced complexity, and improved correction of aberrations not software correctable. Geometric distortion can be corrected, including in-camera, using software and a correction profile, and once properly corrected, it is no longer a differentiator between lenses. Canon is trying to cater to a large as possible market segment. If you want minimal or no distortion, the lens will have to be much larger , heavier and more expensive (moreso than the 50mm 1.2 because the design for wide angles is more complex than standard) and the market for this would be much smaller.
I was looking forward to hybrid primes .. with IS! As a hybrid shooter with a C70, lenses without IS is a no-go handheld. The same if I upgrade to C80. I don’t need IS for photo and my R5 and R6 mkII have IBIS for video but I need fast primes for the C70 .. because its video quality far superior! Canon don’t have a 50mm with IS .. at all!
Canon lenses tend to be priced higher in Europe than in North America due to several interrelated factors. Firstly, the inclusion of VAT in Europe, which can range from 15% to 25%, significantly inflates the retail price compared to the generally lower sales taxes in the US. Additionally, currency fluctuations can impact pricing, particularly if the Euro strengthens against the US Dollar, making imports more expensive. Distribution and logistics costs also play a role, as importing and retailing in Europe can incur higher overhead expenses. Market dynamics, including local demand and competitive pricing strategies, further influence lens costs, as European retailers may price their products higher due to perceived consumer willingness to pay. Lastly, compliance with regional regulations may impose additional costs on manufacturers, ultimately reflected in consumer pricing. For a more in-depth analysis, you can refer to sources discussing the impact of VAT and market strategies in the consumer electronics sector.
why can't you make lenses like 28-45 f1.8 and if you can't, why not let Sigma make them for RF mount. Every other camera brands are moving to L Mount now

Affordable is the key priority for Canon given their sole source universe and these lenses don't check that box.
literally 😂
The 50mm 1.2 was over 2,000 usd, and this new one is $1499. How cheap do you want them to make these lenses??

Belle montée en puissance de la gamme cinéma Canon. Une très belle série d'objectifs.
He said "affordable"?

Nice lenses, but WAY too expensive.
Are those lenses compatible for r10.
Hi! Absolutely 😊
70-200 compatible with r7?
Yep!
If only we would have a C400 to pair it with... Every RUclips'er has had it for more than two months, but the professional user is left behind.
affordability left the chat
I’m a hybrid photo/video wedding shooter.
I need/want some nice fast primes that have IBIS! Why doesn’t anyone make primes with IBIS? 😅
Please give me. Sony gum lens🙏🙏😢
$3,000 in US but £3,450 in UK, equivalent of $4,475. Why are we hit with a 50% increase in price?
