- Getting ideas from your brain into the world is insanely hard. I hate it. It makes me want to quit every single day. BUT I love it. I love the process, the pain, the struggle and I think it can give you enormous personal growth when you push through. So right now as I see everyone raving about all of these new AI tools that can do all of the hard work for you, I'm honestly amazed at how excited people are for this to happen. I'm not.
I've wanted to make a video about creative process for years. So I thought what better way to do it than to show you my process for my last video.

Ive increasingly been outsourcing my creativity to chatGPT and started to find I couldn’t even think anymore. Especially word recall. Like, crossword puzzles would be 10x harder. Trying to brainstorm ideas felt impossible. I realised I had turned my brain to mush by letting AI think for me. Allowing neural atrophy. Dangerous stuff really
For me it's the small details only a few of us will notice but make a huge difference ! thanks for the inspirations !!!!

I'm seeing all of this one year down the line! Greatly resonate with your take on the subject as always. I also struggle to see why people are so excited about outsourcing all creativity
to an AI Chatbot. Chat GPT is good for certain things (e.g. as a language learning partner or to give you surface level takes on topics you're unfamiliar with) but if you're dry with ideas then this is the weather conditions of your life that need to change for ideas to arise naturally. Outsourcing ideation will just make matters worse. I have a million ideas of videos to make and I'll be filming the first one over the next three months, in China. I hope it will be born, deliver lots of dopamine (which it does already), and that you'll see it one day :-)

Ali i feeeeeeeel this in my bones. I agree with you that effort = dopamine BUT my take here is that there are many ways to put in effort and making some parts easier for yourself is fine as long as the work you put in still feels good :)

Just chill with all these AI hype, it will settle. Like the Midjourney art, it looks generic at this point (yes you still can create amazing stuff with it, but the what?). AI is just another tool which will enhance your productivity. And in the end, execution and consistency will always stay relevant! Great video by the way, keep it up my dude! 🔥

RUclips algorithm sent me here randomly (is that AI? I guess)...really glad I clicked and watched! The editing on this is sick mate. And a very good point made. I wrote about this a couple of weeks back:
"In my mind, the advent of AI fulfilling the role of churning out mundane, run-of-the-mill “content” only serves to place a higher value on human creativity. Anything that isn’t created by AI will be of note, carrying authenticity and respect."

I love that take on it, and I agree. The more we can get in front of camera, be our true selves and share our experiences that can never be replicated through code, the more that will become valuable. Appreciate the comment, are you still living in Lombok? I'm planning to move back to Bali later this year so would keen for a joint adventure (I didn't do Rinjani lol).

I was talking about the exact same thing regarding chat gpt with my mate last week. If everyone’s using chat gpt and creating what (for now) reads like ok/good content, it will become really bland and low average because it’s what 99% of people are doing.
Chuck your personality in front of the camera and you’ll stand out from the crowd by a mile.
Dopamine:
Our brains love tricking us into doing all the small 10 minute jobs on our to do list so we get a “cheap” hit of dopamine.
The real long lasting slow release of dopamine comes from doing the biggest or hardest things on our list.
Trial and error, self-doubt, worry, overwhelm, “why the fuck am I doing this”. If somebody goes through any of this and they come out the other side with something that looks like success, that’s when the real good time dopamine comes in 😃
It could also come from failing as well because you’ve taken action and done the hard thing which is a massive win.

I actually wanted to summarise at the end of the vid but didn't want to complicate it - we're getting that cheap dopamine in every area of our lives now: Social media instead of friends, online dating instead of Jaxx lol, P*rn instead of... and now we want to do the same thing to work?!? Does it make us more efficient as a species? Sure. But it makes us less happy.

Thank you, it’s great to get feedback from someone working closely with the tech. I think it is inevitable that these tools are going to have a place in our processes of course, but as you say I think it’s important we have the discussions as we integrate them into our lives.
