I caught a 6 lbs bass in the spill way on first cast at Ray Roberts lake.
Try making the length of line between your packbait lead and hook shorter. 3-6 inches long will produce more fish for you often its the weight of the lead that hooks the fish and a longer hook link means it can swim further before it comes into contact with the weight o f that lead.
Use a landing net and a landing mat you won’t hurt the fish that way🎣

Double check the TX regs. I think we can’t use gamefish as bait. Not sure though about dead fish.
No you cannot use game fish for bait in TX, or any part of it.
Get yourself a landing mat and net it’ll make your life so much easier

That thing is called method feeder, for pellets or powder mix, urs bait os way to sticky thats why it doesnt work.

You cannot use rainbow trout as bait in Texas as they are classified as gamefish. It’s a dumb rule but don’t want to see you get in trouble for it.

You will do better with a smaller circle hook for carp
Is there a specific way you remove them? I try to stay away from circle hooks because I have a lot of trouble removing them and hurting fish.
