How to Set Up Joy-Cons as a Single Controller or Pair in Ryujinx - Nintendo Switch Emulator Tutorial

- In this video, I'll show you how to set up your Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons as a single controller or "Joy-Con Pair" in Ryujinx, the Switch emulator.
Windows recognizes the Joy-Con left and right as two separate controllers, which are then passed through to Ryujinx. Unlike Yuzu, Ryujinx doesn't have a native feature to pair the two Joy-Cons together as a single controller.
That's where Steam comes in. We can use Steam to create a virtual XInput controller from the Joy-Con pair and then allow Steam to manage the input for Ryujinx by adding it to your Steam library.
Here's a quick start guide:
1. Connect both Joy-Cons to your Windows PC.
2. Launch Steam and add Ryujinx to your Steam library.
3. Enable Steam Input for Ryujinx.
4. Configure the controller settings within Ryujinx.

Followed all the steps but it still shows as 2 individual controller in ryujinx but it shows as a combined controller in other games. Any fix on this?

I wanna play Mario Wonder with my friend and we only have two joycons for us both so we want to use a single joycon horizontally but the joystick feels like it would need to be rotated by 90°, there’s a "90° rotate" checkbox in Ryujinx but when I click and apply it, nothing changes in games, I also tried the "invert X/Y axis" checkboxes knowing these wouldn’t solve my problem but just to test and even these doesn’t change anything about how the joystick plays in game… I’m gonna play around again today but if you have any idea on how to resolve this that’s be great!

Can you use motion controller with JoyCons? For Example to play Just dance. For this setup.

If you meant the Switch emulator, Yes.
Can it use for ringfit adventure?

Hi. Thank you. You helped. The configuration workrd. I can see both controllers. Problem is the Ryujinx hangs when any game is launched. It stays on the game library screen and just freezes. Without Steam it launches without any issues, except of course that only one controller works. HELP. Perhaps there is anoter solution outside of Steam?
Sounds like a compatibility issue. Have you tried other games?
If I had Mario Party on my PC (with Ryujinx emulator), and I connect the joycon singularly on PC. Can I use the joycon's motion function to play Mario Party (with Ryujinx emu on my PC)? Since most of the Mario Party game need a motion control on joycon.
I haven’t tried it but I would assume you can, cause I use a PS5 controller on the emulator and I use the motion features just as a Switch pro Controller

Is there a way for motion controls because when I did your steps it said my Nintendo Switch controller was a Xbox but the Nintendo Switch controller was still working, but there was no motion controls so is there a way for motion controls
If you use the Joy-Con directly (singularly in Ryujinx or as a pair in Yuzu, as Yuzu natively supports Joy-Con pairs), motion controls work. In the video, we're utilizing Steam to map the Joy-Con pair to a single "virtual" Xbox controller and then mapping it to a Switch Pro controller in Ryujinx. Therefore, it's uncertain whether the motion control functionality passes through this setup. I will need to investigate this further. May I ask in what scenarios you would require a Pro controller with motion control?
@@ModderGamer I did joy con pair, I wanted to play cooking mama and play the new wario ware game when it comes out, and you have to have motion controls for those games
@@blazebringer950 Do those game requir Joy-Con pair, or you can use single Joy-Con? If so you can try quit Steam and just use one Joy-Con, to see if the motion control works. You can also get a Switch Pro Controller. Hope it helps!

what's the usb controller program? is it native on windows 11?
Yes, it's a Windows native app to test connected game controllers. Press "Windows" button and type in "USB game Controllers", you will get it~

@@ModderGamerI’m just giving up at this point. Steam detects every button and I followed everything and windows even recognize them and using R as mouse. When it comes to the game it just don’t react to my button presses. Maybe it’s time to check other emulators.
Help. Why is Ryujinx reading my joycons as 2 players? Like in Mario Party. I press L+R and they show up as 2 players instead of just 1
You need to set it up in Steam follow the video.

the controls are like the sideways controllers ingame even tho i have it normally on steam

@@ModderGamer I tried last night and Steam recognized the dual joy-cons (and worked for steam games), but it wasn't registering in ryujinx after running through steam.
I might have to set keyboard in ryujinx and then a custom layout for the joy-cons.

Then it's either the Bluetooth not connected successfully, or the controller is not mapped correctly.
