Shame because that looks like a very nice home; quality construction evident by the brick work on the chimney. If this had been new construction, the roof would have completely collapsed. Doesn’t look like the attic was living quarters so I wonder what the cause of the fire was.
By breaking the windows they make the air flow through that windows by double than just opening them. Also by doing that it makes it possible for firefighters to bail out of windows if something goes bad example like a collapse, flashover, explosion ect. So yes it is necessary.
@@THEMAJESTIRIUM1 I don't think it's necessary to yell in response to an innocent question being asked. Not very professional, but that's just my opinion. I have a question for you though. Why were none of the firemen going in the second story window (on the right side of the house) wearing their SCBA ? They had them on their backs but none of those guys were wearing the face masks. There was plenty of toxic smoke still to be concerned about. And then at about 8:33 in video you can hear being asked on the radio whether the house was clear. The other voice replies that the homeowner verified the house was clear of occupants but why was it just being asked when they must have been on scene for at least 25 minutes or longer by that point? It would be a little late by then if there was any victims in the house still because of the smoke.
@@af.7992 it’s just standard procedure they have to account for everyone firefighters included. Anyway the first due ladder company starts a primary search on arrival for any victims.
@@THEMAJESTIRIUM1 A trick I use here is to wear a pair of thin socks next to your skin and then a plastic bag and a pair of thick socks for warmth also dress with layers to keep you warm thin layers next to the skin then a thicker second layer and a wind and waterproof outer layer. Wool middle layer will be quite comfortable. I used this trick while trucking in northern Canada. The road to the diamond mines from Yellowknife.
I understand that taking out windows is to vent smoke and heat, but I've seen windows smashed and not A bit of smoke venting. They seem to really like window break and take.
I could actually understand the communications back and forth between the firefighters and, I'm assuming, the Incident Commander. Very educational for me.
If this was a British whole time response , it would be 1 main jet , and Poss a hosereel jet in use. and 6 ba wearers. 3 pumps . We could only dream of 1 aerial appliance, if it was staffed. What fantastic resources the Nyfd have , # envious
FF convention in the driveway.--- Seriously 5-6 ladder trucks ?? ---Does the fire Chief own the house ? LOL!!--- I love the angles you used & with the zoom lens it was like we were on the building too!! Great job John --- Debbie

Great job by the FDNY Queens Marines. Private dwelling fires are a tough fire due to open narrow stairways, construction, exposures and life hazard should be anticipated on every floor from basement to attic
It's unfortunate about this dwelling - very nice house. Could you confirm that the vehicle in the driveway was a Saab or not? Thanks - very nice video once again.
Woo amazing quick knock down . I hope no one was injured or seriously hurt so sad for that family so close to Christmas to lose there house . God bless you and stay safe . Watching from the uk 🇬🇧
Hey John, love your videos, you show to be a fireman you have bigger balls than most people, or just crazy!!! Thanks to all the people that do this job, you have my gratitude and admiration!!. One really dumb question, how long does it take to roll up all those hoses? Have a great evening!!
HAHA! THAT MEANS A LOT FOR ME TO HEAR ROGER. I THINK I AM A LITTLE CRAZY BUT I SURE AS HELL LOVE EVERY MINUTE OF IT! IT DOES NOT TAKE LONG BECAUSE THEY ALL CHI IN AND HELP EACH OTHER PUTTING THEM BACK ON THE ENGINR! THANK YOU VERY MUCH! ;o)
I was wondering what was happening because I went to turn down 43rd to go down 219th Street ( a block with a light) and I was blocked off and had to turn around.

THX......
This was a walk in the park for these guys? they went manual this Time they had enough man power to do so! The Tower Ladders alone would've had this fire out in minutes? Good Job JJ.
What! You bring no GLOVES! Some nice ski mittens would be nice. Put some hand warmers in them. Nothing worse than cold hands. Just ask the Germans when they were outside the gates of Moscow.
I ‘m new to this channel. It’s great! Good work! But what I find amazing is how you get to these fires all over the City! It’s like traffic just moves over for you. Keep up the good work, and drive safe.
Another great coverage video JJ. Thank you again for such dedication to your craft which you are so good at it. God Bless the FDNY and to you the same. Again Merry Christmas from central Florida
great work
