I think I can live without Wine, but I hate to think of a whole generation of kids that grow up without Chocolate, Peanut Butter, Strawberries, Fries and Chips. I applaud these people for looking ahead and taking action to try to save these foods before it's too late. Let's just hope that the Hailey's On It show predicts the future and someone invents something that can permanently reverse climate change.

Josh, heads up about Better Help. I remember a while back BH was being promoted everywhere. Then it came out that most of the therapists working for them were not licensed at all. Most RUclipsrs dropped them and issued apologies very soon after. They still have a problem with unlicensed therapists, which means that they can do far more harm to mental health than good.
Jesus man, not even THERAPY is legit anymore. What has the world come to??
Reminds me of a "mental facility" where I live in Lexington, KY called The Ridge. They don't have licensed therapists, either; they just abuse the people who come in there for help.
They *weren’t* licensed? That sounds awful :(
I decided to try it a couple years ago when I realized I really needed to start therapy and the idea of BH sounded super appealing. It was awful. The assigned specialist took days to respond to our ongoing messages, was completely unprepared for our first session even though we had a month to do the questionnaires she was supposed to send me, and 10 minutes in she revealed that her personal views conflicted with mine about LGBTQ+ topics and she recommended I switch to a different person.
Thankfully I got a partial refund from them when I cancelled. I definitely don't recommend it unless they've radically changed.
@@Pendarr That's the problem when you're getting therapy from just some rando.

I'm begging you to reconsider your sponsor. I understand mental health is important to you, and it is also to me. One google search of better help would show you the downright awful practices of this company that sells their user's data. All companies do this yes but this is a therapy service... They shouldn't.
Their work practices are also terrible for the therapists working for them. It's an awful service gor anyone. At best it's just a bad experience, at worst it's downright abuse. Please, please reconsider this sponsor. Information about them is easy to find. They haven't changed in years.
Yeah like I understand content creators need sponsors and I can see that Phantom maybe thought this was fine since other well known content creators have been sponsored by better help. But I do think people should search there sponsors especially with the amount of research Phantom puts into his videos.
Strider is one of so many creators that need to be careful because they seem way too trusting of offers. He’s after accidentally accepting sponsorship deals from scam companies and dangerous companies before.
He took Established Titles at face value too.
Ever since the controversy that outed Illuminaughty as an abuser, I always considered the sponsorships that someone accepts to be a good indicator of how genuine a creator is. If they’re prone to promoting scammy and dubious companies, then maybe we should consider how much the creator really cares about the well-being of their audience.
I hope strider learns to not trust all sponsors
Always do your research
Also that illuminaughty controversy hurt me so much
@@AiLoveAidoru I feel like so many, it is the too trusting. I feel also a good rule of thumb is that if you see a sponsorship suddently prop up in millions of channels; that product is probably sketchy. I wonder also if it is personal experiences which more led him to pick up the product, he is someone who has openly talked about depression and wellbeing so a product like this appeals to him a lot at first value then maybe other people. I do hope he changes it but I presume he has signed some contract to have to add it to the next few videos so well.
I think for the caring about well being, I think it is a case of strider thinking this is a good product and then not looking into it and thus results in effecting users. It is strange as he has decided to not do any research but I think it is probably a case of good intentions but with a bad product. The best case is to send him a well worded message illustrating why it is a bad sponsorship and maybe he would see it and think about it a bit. I do not think we should value how genuine a creator is just by sponsors as I feel that is a small part of the youtube experience and for example if he lied in a video it would be worse to me (though I did do that in the last paragraph tbh). Establish titles is another case of this, but tbh that seemed sketchy from the off. Raybands as well and a few other products. Rule is to me just do not trust if you see all your favourite creators have the same product at once.
To conclude, I say just do your research, do not trust sponsorships at all. Even for a good product, or good looking one; question why they sponsored this channel and if the product is a good one. Also, comments like this would work if you send them in a respectful mannor in which they allow for him to see and know what points you want him to understand.
@@sk3ll121About a Product suddenly popping up in millions of sponsors, I have three words:
Raid Shadow Legends
Or maybe even NordVPN?
I also appreciate that you try and positive approach.
There are so many videos I have seen of "These things WILL be gone by (insert date here)" and it is so depressing.
Partially due to how nihilistic it is.
Thanks! Tried very very hard to keep a positive approach on this one. Glad it shows.
Alright I'll be honest, I was nervous when Nin first started showing up in vids simply because I don't like change lol but she's definitely been a fun addition to your videos! 😁 You guys are so sweet together and Nin seems really nice and fun :)

The gros Michelle banana is not extinct just not commercially viable on a mass scale. You can still import them but they aren’t as common as they once were
Yeah, they're still around just not farmed en-masse. They're basically "artisanal" banana's now, lol.
So happy to hear you advocating for GMOs. It is a tool that can be used to solve so many problems related to climate change and I also agree in regards to pesticides.
I don't necessarily agree with all uses of GMO but like with any tool it is how we use it that makes the difference.
As you said it is not harmful and I'd even say it is even safer than conventional breeding due to stricter regulations and a higher level of control over what is changed.
There are naysayers going around saying GMOs will cause cancer in the future, but we'll have to wait and see, won't we? It's probably smoking cigarettes and taking certain RX meds that'll cause it, though.
Sometime it'll have to be forced into people whether they want it or not.
Thank you for painting GMOs in a good light. They will be an enormous help in the future. Sadly "free from genetic engineering" is still one of the most prominent and beloved advertising promises in my area. The faster we move on from this the better for everyone.
It's SO damn annoying how the 'organic' trend got people into thinking they were eating healthier food. I could be wrong but I believe that that marketing trend is what spawned the public's unfounded hatred of genetically engineered food
mate you wanna know the effects of gmos. look at America with all of their fatasses and lax laws
@@mageyplss And a lot of people just come up with ridiculous ideas whenever anything new comes along (eg: claiming that the invention of writing would lead to people's memories degrading or claims that trains would make farm animals which they go near miscarry). I know genetic engineering is a lot more complex than those but as far as I can gather the potential concerns about problems it could cause haven't been issues yet so they may never will be problems.
@@tempestfennac9687 1. Exactly
2. wtf are those myths
💀
Tge thing is people get GMOs confused with gene editing.
GMOs can include anything from gene editing to various peppers bred by humans.
GMO also refers to crops that have changed due to selective breeding and artificial selection. The banana is actually a great example, since they were originally small with huge seeds inside. Farmers then had plants that produced larger fruit or smaller seeds cross-pollinate with each other which would then be bred with the members of that generation's large fruit and small seed producers until we got the banana we know today. You can even see this with centuries old paintings that feature watermelon. Back then, they were mostly white and not very sweet. Crossbreed the sweetest, pinkest ones of each plant generation, and you get the modern-day watermelon.
GMOs do not include selective breeding or artificial selection. That is, propaganda companies started to combat concerns about GMO products. Selective breeding does not modify the genetics of an existing organism. Therefore, they can not be Genetically Modified Organisms.
Chocolate? Did you said chocolate? *CHOCOLATE! CHOCOLATE! CHOCOLATE! CHOCOLATE!*
Interesting fact: There are many varieties of bees, but the most frequently shown are honey bees, the bees I am mentioning are solitary bees, unfortunately due to human interference they have problems, but you can help them, e.g. by building hives (Not the same as honey bees) or giving special bricks with holes in which they can live
An interesting thing is that many solitary bees have specific colors (There are bees that have no stripes and are completely black) + They are often hostile to other bees, but contrary to appearances, aggression is quite rare, and the solitary bees themselves are much calmer than the honey bees themselves, unfortunately, are less known than honey bees (Like bumblebees, i.e. one of the sweetest insects that pollinate flowers like bees, unfortunately, I have the impression that these little fluffy insects are terribly underestimated, mainly in the media, and if bees became extinct, they would be one of the more pollinating insects, because like bees, they carry pollen, but as I mentioned, these are terribly underrated insects and that makes me sad)
Although when it comes to honey, bumblebees would rather not produce it (Because they are not bees and do not produce honey), but solitary bees can, so we should take care of them in the same way as honey bees.
And interesting fact, many solitary bees can look much different than honey bees (As I mentioned, black bees without stripes also exist, and they are round like bumblebees, which is quite a funny fact), I have the impression that many films about bees often forget about this variety of bees and it's really sad,
because if we cannot protect honey bees from extinction, we should at least take care of solitary bees, because without them it may not be very interesting if honey bees become extinct (The only hero will be the bumblebee, a creature that has been hidden in the shadow by honey bees for years and really deserves more attention, but I don't know will it pollinate every flower that exists, because the bumblebee itself can be slightly picky about some nectars)
I know I've written on this topic way too much, I just wish more people knew about these hidden heroes
yeah I saw a bunch of green bees at the botanic gardens once.
Honey bees are actually so overpopulated at this point it's harming the ecosystem, we've overcompensated! They are the exact opposite of endangered!
Solitary bees don't produce honey. All bee species that produce honey are social, and many of them are stingless bees (tribe Meliponini).
The reason why solitary bees are important is that they pollinate many native plants around the world. Honey bees are better at pollinating crops.
Honey bees aren't the endangered ones, many solitary bees are. Honey bees even spread diseases to solitary bees. This is why focusing too much on saving honey bees is detrimental.
another interesting fact, honey bees was brought here and have killed off almost all the original pollinators
What concerns me in particular is foods that require temperate or arctic conditions, such as the strawberries mentioned in the video, but also other berries like lingonberries, cloudberries, bilberries and cranberries. There may not be much further from the equator to go that still has the optimal temperatures for these berries, and what makes matters worse is that climate change happens more rapidly the further from the equator you go. One meat based food that also fits into this category is caribou or reindeer. The reindeer's diet often consists of various types of lichen, which too are perfectly adapted for the arctic and risk being wiped out in a warmer world.
There are dozens of peoples in the northern parts of Eurasia who traditionally make a living through reindeer husbandry, such as the Yakut, Nenets, Evenki, Enets, Sámi, Nganasan and many others, and should we lose the reindeer, these peoples will lose an important piece of their cultures. Unfortunately there is also a more insidious reason threatening reindeer, and that is how some governments, such as Sweden and Norway, have a history of creating projects that sound nice and eco-friendly in theory, such as the Fosen windpower park in Norway, but in practice make reindeer herding by Sámi people in the area (who often have used this land for centuries) impossible. In terms of the environmental threat, reindeer herders can supplement lost lichen by providing feed directly to the reindeer in addition to the food they're still able to find on their own, and Sámi people are doing their best to raise awareness of governmental actions detrimental to reindeer herding through protest and sometimes taking legal action for land rights
Yeah, sad and sordid. I wonder if the Scandinavian governments will acknowledge the rights of their nations’ Sami peoples also?
With all the downsides of climate change, the loss of coffee might be a benefit to my mom, who’s trying to stop drinking it. Losing chocolate would be a benifit to me according to her so I guess we both win by that logic lol.
Edit:in terms of if chocolate does go away, I’ve heard that Carob is a common substitute for chocolate, so that might be another solution.
Chocolate is really bad for me so it doesn't affects me that much either
Honestly, I really like the countdown sequences, they really show a new perspective!

If Reese’s were to disappear, then my mom and two sisters would definitely riot.

You and Nin at the end of the video trying those wines was a fun watch! :)
I love the idea of Boo being a genius and scientist!
I have a small bee colony living in my patio and tbh, I don't have an idea how they survive.
But hey, the veggies and flowers look great and the bees seem happy, sometimes they land in my hands just to chill
That’s nice that you let them live there. Most people would just knock it down because they don’t want them living in their patio not knowing or not caring what the benefits are of having them. I also have a small colony living in my backyard. They are fascinating to watch and as long as you leave them alone, they won’t harm you.

Wondering how the future will be for foods is a question. I really hope that the foods that will never disappear are any fruit like apples or something. And yes. Chocolate would be pretty awful if it was going to disappear
Hi Josh! This was a great video, and I especially enjoyed the time traveling aspect! I love it when you and Boo go on adventures. I don't want any of these foods to vanish, but ESPECIALLY not chocolate, peanuts, and potatos. But wine? I could care less about wine. Give me raisins [especially chocolate covered], jelly, and jam any day. Speaking of Raisins, did you know the 1980s California Raisins mascots had a football game named after them? It was called "The California Raisins Bowl". They also appeared in some old Macy's Thanksgiving Parades, with their last appearance in it being 1992. Speaking of the California Raisins, I highly recommend watching the Claydream documentary. It's about the story of Will Vinton and how he lost his studio. Be warned, it's a very sad story, and you'll never be able to look at Laika the same way again.
Yeah, I'm not one for wine myself. I'm much more of a fan of the other grape creations. Heck, avocados to me are alright, but they're better in guacamole.
The rest of the stuff I actually like, like maple syrup. Seeing as I live in Michigan, I actually know how to make maple syrup because I helped my parents with it a couple years ago.
While I can't speak for non alcoholic wines specifically, I will say that in my experience white wine has a much sweeter taste compared to red, which is why I prefer it over red wine
White wine is significantly worse for you than red wine, baco noir is by far the healthiest (and tastiest) wine.
Interesting seeing betterhelp do the rounds on youtube again. Didnt it get into some controversy a few years ago for sharing personal data and ppl having bad experiences with it?
Yes, BetterHelp was notorious for being rude and disrespectful to its customers.
They’re a terrible company and sell user data
Not to mention most of their therapists were, and still are, unlicensed.
Ah! But bees aren't the ONLY bug that pollinates. In fact, bees kinda invaded onto others territory and pushed them out. If bees did go out, we'd end up with another bug taking up that spot, though we would lose honey.
yah people always want to overlook that the bees that was brought here killed off the original pollinators for the areas
And that we’re saving the wrong bees! Honeybees are technically invasive, and we’re supposed to be focusing on native bees
Honestly I love the little stores you put in these videos like where you time traveled in this one and the Lego arc back when you where doing Lego videos!
Reese's disappearing? That would be a peanut butter tragedy!
I know right
We won't lost peanuts. The Illuminutty wouldn't allow it.
Can I just say, btw, how much I LOVE the prospect of genetic-engineering? As you've shown off, it can do a lot of good for the world in saving a lot of crops and, by proxy, the foods we consume from disappearing completely and even make them taste better in the long run, and I am ALL about that! :D
Or maybe, don't mess up the planet so badly that you have to modify everything to survive.
@@Celtic1020or both?? They aren’t mutually exclusive
@@calub_wendex1233 Right? My thoughts exactly. :)
@@Celtic1020 Thing is, we as humans have kinda always done even BEFORE we just so happened to rip massive gaping holes in the ozone layer. Using the tools at your disposal to manipulate and deconstruct your environment to understand how it functions isn't a trait limited exclusively to humans, you know...nor is the act of adaptation in dire situations, either. I will champion genetic sciences for the good they can do, and have done, for us and the world at large. If you don't like that, that's fine, no one said you have to. ;)
@@Celtic1020 I totally understand what you are saying but, unfortunately, it seems we are at a point of no return when it comes to a lot of things on the planet. I hate the thought of it too.
I think wine is the entry on this list that we can live without. Also, cool to see more of Nin in the live action parts of your videos. It's not too often we see her.
I am SO HAPPY you mentioned Norman Borlaug. He has saved millions of people from starvation since his work in the 1970's, and in my opinion, is the greatest human being to ever exist.
Actually cow's milk production uses five times more lands cuz you have to feed the cows and have the cows. And grow feed for the cows which of course involves clearing land. All this land clearing may seem fine because it's replaced with grass but the truth is we need more trees does lead to drought and bad salt levels in the soil.
It also isn’t typically replaced with grass, just muddy filthy dirt that can runoff into waterways. Dairy milk also FAR outstrips any other type of milk for water usage at 90 gallons per pound. A pound of milk is round about 2 cups of milk. Almond, which is the the second thirstiest milk, uses 8 gallons per pound. Soy milk used the least amount of water fallowed closely by oat.
@@melissamenchaca9121 yeah people try to make it seem like soy waste water but it doesn't. It's actually one of the most eco-friendly things we could be growing and eating. And some people worry about the estrogen level but they don't need to worry. Your average beer has 12 times more estrogen then soy per serving. And how many beers do some people have a day without any estrogen levels increase? ..... Old Milk may useeven less water than soy but there's just something about the way soy Cooks.
@@aveganeverywhere yeah I would not try to use oat milk for cooking. In my opinion cashew and coconut are the best for cooking

Isn't one of the big things with GMOs not personal and environmental health, but rather Corporations being Corporations and suing random farmers for "Stealing" the edited DNA if it gets passed around?
I remember learning about such cases back in 9th grade and the companies winning each time, either via the legal and civil courts but the ultimate court that is financial attrition.
Definitely a very real problem if corporations are suing farmers 🤔 That's not the majority of cases I hear though. Most cases I heard are where uneducated people are calling them "frankenfoods" and demonizing them because of the names and a lack of information. Will keep an eye out for the corporation issue though in the future. Cheers.

Eh, I'm not really one for wine. But I'd hate it if cider was a goner in 2050. I love the taste of a good peach and pear cider... non-alcoholic, of course. I also love when my stepmom uses avocados in her guacamole. Her version tastes a lot better.
And I totally understand a little bit about the maple syrup. All the trees here in Michigan are able to flow with ease because of how much snow we get each year, which makes it easier for my family and many other people in the area to collect sap and all.
But everything else? No way am I going to lose those! *(Starts hoarding everything I can from this list)*
I don't drink alcohol either, so I wouldn't mind wine going away.
I only drink it if I’m at a restaurant and it’s only one drink
Isn't BetterHelp known for having some issues?
Bees are NOT the only pollinating insects. There are many other pollinators, so yes, there may be a lack of honey in the future, but, Plants will do fine being pollinated by other species.

Amazing video phantomstrider and very interesting educational, fantastic job.
Wines can cause headaches because of sulfites used to pause the fermentation process. There are sulfite-free wines out there, and products that filter out sulfites as well. As for the wines being bitter? Dessert wines are a thing! They're much sweeter, fruiter, and nuttier. A non-alcoholic dessert wine might be up your alley. ^-^ ♥ Cheers!

The entire documentary for the bananas is available on YT on the official channel of Insider business, it goes on the bananas growing as a business today, more than the less than pleasant past banana plantation history (fk you United fruits) but it is still worth watching.
I had real argument with one of my genetics teachers, back at UNI, in regards to GMO plants she could not fathom that genetic sequences in GMO plants are the same as the regular plants and there is no danger of your body not absorbing them, shittiest department in the whole university, I swear.
Speaking of Wine, I only like the Welch Sparkling juice cocktails since they are non-alcoholic and they do taste nice but I only tasted them during Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve since I’m a Christian so I don’t drink alcohol!
