    I bought this tent earlier in the year to go camping in the Cairngorms, got all the way up to the lairig ghru and realised I forgot my tent poles 😂

    I was SO thrilled to see this upload, Abbie - I just found out about this tent yesterday and spent a good while looking at the limited reviews, and then this morning, just on the off chance I looked it up on youtube and saw this video. It’s exactly what I was looking for and it’s made my morning. ❤️

    Hi Abbie. Thanks for a great review. I must confess that I bought this model just over a year ago and absolutely love the tent. Your review accurately reflects my findings. Just one thing that you didn't mention was that the door unzips across the bottom meaning that it can be stowed in the small pocket. I find this useful as the door is protected when entering the tent.

    The price. Bejayzzus! Insanity! I heard that in Wales you can buy an actual real brick house for that much (well maybe)! 😂😂🤣😂

    I got one second hand to see how I would get on backpacking, I’m tiny 5’1” and it seems fine. Mine being the older model I have trouble with the little carbon poles, but when I’ve plucked up enough courage to actually go out (probably longer days, as I’m terrified of the dark) it’s perfect … the bigger the tent the more stuff I would probably take (bit like handbags really 🤣🤣)

    I use a Terra Nova laser 2 for bike packing, I love it, apart from the issue you highlighted with the outer door, your idea with the peg is superb and I'll be doing that in future, thanks

    The Vango Zenith 100 is quite the same design for 95 quit 8 years ago, you made a review. Nice 👍

    Eminently sane review which helped others conclude it’s a relative waste of money. And gave me enough information to chose the 2 person version (as a short and wide person) and the 3 season version (with my current tent condensation is a much bigger problem than rain, maybe not surprising given I mainly use it late spring or early autumn in France).
    Reassuring advice on tendency of tent to sag if not carefully tensioned.
    Going for 4 day bike packing try out tomorrow. Have packed clothes pegs.

    Great balanced review. Looks like a great tent. Massive fan of the tunnel design in the UK with our varied weather!

    Hi Abbie. Very helpful video. I have the 3 season compact and was thinking of changing it to the all season. It’s got some great new features but I tend not to camp in the thick of winter so will stick with my current tent. Thanks Abbie. Serk

    Thanks Abbie a great review. Too many bad designs to charge 550$ , inner and outer door, cheap pegs, zephros is a cheaper version of this tent only problem it has the same bad designs.

    The lack of a door roll up toggle is a total deal breaker for me. Just why Terra Nova?? Back to Hilleberg I go. Great review.

    It would be cool if they did the inner in the same yellow as the regular laser compact. I love that colour combination. 👍

    Gave up on TN when they went through a bit of a 'bonkers' phase a few years ago, including pegs that were more like toothpicks and offering 2 person tents that were anything but. Saying that, their Voyager Superlight was superb IMHO ( and the Quasar).

    It's the most annoying thing on TN tents the door not rolling up. I had a TN Southern Cross, it was great except for the annoying door. Why on earth did they design it like that. Crazy!

  • @terrypatterson1481
    @terrypatterson1481 2 года назад +1

    Although it looks a nice piece of kit Abbie - going to check out the price. Pegs look a let down- I would change them up. The manufacturer should also make a peg so you can roll it up without using a clothes peg. I've just checked the price out(£550) For me it is very expensive tent for what you actually get for your money. Thank you for the review.

  • @lawrencejack5038

    £550 and the door hangs like that, and needs modifications to keep it open, and those tent pegs 🤦🏻‍♂️ for a so called 4 season tent 🏕 anyone honestly, would you use those pegs on a mountain summit 🤔 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏕🏔

  • @hnahler

    Abbie, thanks for the review. No blame on you but on manufacturers: there are so many tents for people below 5ft8in and not many for taller people. For those 6ft+, not exactly uncommon, the height needs to be about 1m minimum and the length 2.20m+. There is just not much in the market and not even easily addressed by going for the 2 person variant. Those typically add width but neither height nor length. In this style of tent, the Tarptent Scarp 1 seems to be the only acceptable tent, similar price to the TN Laser Compact but import from the US.

    Hey Abbie, thanks for the awesome review. Between the Terra Nova Laser Compact All Season 1 and the Southern Cross 1 Tent, what do you think is the better choice? Which one would you trust more in heavy winds?

  • @whenigotothemountains1203
    @whenigotothemountains1203 2 года назад

    Enjoyed the review. The zephyros would be a good alternative for someone who liked the tent and manufacturer but was less concerned about the weight and more concerned about the price. For a 4 season tent, the weight brilliant here tho. Atb gordon

    Thanks for your review. It's literally the ONLY laser compact all season (1 or 2) review on YT! I've just bought the TN LC AS 2 second hand and waiting for it to arrive. But OMG .... Am I correct in thinking the inner door zips do not unzip along the bottom so the doors can stash to the side? Have you to endure the door just flopping around on the floor?

  • @walkaboutphilpots3795

    That looks great maybe i should have gone for that rather than my TN Southern Cross 1 which i have not used yet , looks more roomy that , hay ho all the fun of the fair.

    I had a Terra Nova tent with that type of door clip, hated it, not sure why they persist with this design, they must have had plenty of feedback about it by now. It's the main flaw of the tent.

    Vello ground 😄 How are you getting on with this? I'm looking at the 2p version of the same tent but can't find many reviews of it at all. I'm particularly interested to hear how it does in warmer temps (0-10c). Is it a sweatbox or do you find it still ventilates well enough?

    Nice presentation of the tent. What's the wind resistance? (couldn't find it on their official website). It is quite a shame that pegs are cheap allum. .... for the price should be titanium.

I had signed up for a mail me when back in stock thing with one of the outdoors websites and they said it's discontinued, so I ended up getting an Akto from a different place.
