i was like "oh cool a guitar pedal review" and then she pulled out the harp and played the most amazing sound ever, I did not expect that! super awesome
That Drowner 'like something coming towards you" was like the most awesome sound you ever did on the channel so far. You have a door back in your mind that opens and LOVES that, I know it. GIVE IN TO THE DARK SIDE -no, really. Darth is inviting you to Tea, he has chocolate and fresh baked cookies for you. That dark side is fkn awesome and I love that huge monster tone.
And you also came up with something that I don't think I have ever heard before: Usually the chord/lead instrument is distorted and the bass is (relatively) clean. But in this video the bass is distorted while the chords are simply "shimmered". I like that idea. You may be a trend-setter, Emily!
For a moment the first harmony at 0:21 sounded to me a lot like the PlayStation startup sound, minus FM twinklies and maybe a third voice 🤩😻 all of these demos are gorgeous but THAT ONE OMG I NEED IT.
Gonna be honest, probably my favorite video of yours. Why? One, never really sat down and actually watched someone play the harp before. And two, both pedals have a other worldly feel and really work well with your implementation. Going to look into if they sound as epic on guitar. Great video, thanks again! 👍🏻
@@emilyharpist Oh my gosh! This is honestly my favorite video of yours too!! And it also seems to be one of your most popular looking at the views! ❤️ Pretty please with a cherry on top come back and visit this again when you get the chance! The minor scale chord progression on the drowner and drowner shallow water demo was phenomenal. Is there somewhere I can find music like this? You're probably a very busy person but I hope you consider it even a little 😇
At 5 minutes your harp sounds so heavy metal/industrial! I'd love to hear it with NIN sampled percussion or Rammstein drums and keyboards! Thank you, Emily!
Thank you RUclips for recommending this video. I didn't know how much I needed to hear some beautiful harp with killer fuzz on it, until this very minute. Loved it. Subscribed.
i love pedals so much and the incredible joy they have brought me but something about watching someone else experience that same joy is so dang heart warming so thanks emily and co for making great video after great video full of experiences i and so many other can relate to you guys rock so hard
The Harp Lord!! I have never ever seen someone use effect pedals on a harp, it sounds absolutely beautiful!!! Great job on the demo and definitely going to check out these 2 pedals!
As a guitarist, this is best effects demonstration channel for me. Harp gets the job DONE. Drowner is on the list. Big scary machine indeed. 🤘 (lovely melodies as always, btw-especially what you play with both pedals side by side)
I love the drowner, it took sometime to connect with but now it's my go to for just vibing. Great demo I love listening to your mini compositions and how you use them to accent an already beautiful instrument.
This video randomly popped up in my Recommendeds, and I honestly don't think I've ever been more grateful to the Algorithm As soon as I heard the Drowner, I knew it had to be my first effects pedal It sounds like it has so much potential for Shoegaze/Ambient-Metal/Noise-Rock in equal measure, and I'm definitely gunna use it as my base to build on with other effects in the future You're an absolute gem Emily - I'm currently binging through your videos, and happily subscribed for more~
I've been watching for a awhlie now for the record I do enjoy as well appreciate the wisdom you guys share along with these tools to unlocking all the soundscapes and little musical worlds. I love it i am inspired to keep adding more ways to make sounds to my own musical endeavors. Thank you Emily. You guys are so freakin awesome!. Big hugs from me to you.🤘🏼😊
The Drowners distortion/shimmer reminds me of the Ps1 startup sound which is easily one of the most nostalgic sounds in the world to me. That alone makes me want to get one xD
@@polarbeareffects Wow thanks very much for the reply! Im glad you agree, honestly the coolest sound effect ever! I've just had a look on your website thanks to Emily's video and I really like the Drowner. Although im not able to get big pedals like that often, im considering getting it now as I dont have a fuzz, bit crusher or shimmer on my pedalboard so it would make a really awesome 3-in-1 pedal haha! Would you say the fuzz is usable in the lower settings just as a normal fuzz? I like how heavy it is but im interested in how subtle it can get :)
I absolutely loved when the frequency of the crusher was being performed while you were playing - being able to get an expression pedal to perform that would lead to some awesome moments. Lovely sounds all around. And the massive fuzz with the reverb is like the doomiest of metal, great sound!
I love how something can sound so ethereal and also so CHUNKY, yaknow? We love to see a versatile pedal! I wonder -- what video game soundtracks would match these tones for a cover? Earthbound, maybe?
Both these pedals are not only visually beautiful but out of the two I think I like Acsender the most. Really pretty and that you can switch the order within one pedal is an awesome option on a pedal! Beautiful sounds as always Emily!
4:47 was so freaking epic! it almost sounds like something Hans Zimmer would put into a sci-fi movie, like if he wrote some music for Tron or Enders Game, or something like that
Love your videos - they're always a breath of fresh air! Extremely talented, great personality and self deprecating sense of humor. What's not to love?
I love the distortion / shimmer reverb. Reminds me of Clint Mansell's 'Leaving Earth' from the Mass Effect 3 Soundtrack. Pretty much the sound of the reapers' 'ray of destruction'. Gave me goosebumps the first time I heard it and this is just like that. For me this is the sound of apocalyptic destruction and devastation and hearing that 'live' would be worth the destruction of mankind, kind of. 😁 No idea, how I got here, though, but I like it.
Particularly good video, particularly good pedals. Every detail of both things. So I guess that means this is the high water mark, lady. It can only go down from here. Congratulations.
Never been this early to a vid, let’s see what you do this time Emily Harpkins! Woooooow they do pair together SUPER well, some really cool soundscapes in this vid!!
If you want them, you can get them. Except you can't...lol. Polarbear fx sold out everywhere. Seem to have only one dealer in the US and they are plagued with the same -lack of building materials- as everyone else. Yaargh! Still, these are great FX and you did a brilliant job making my mouth water. Hopefully this will put a fire under the manufacturer to move some mountains. Thank you!
Thank you so much for your video, for both your excellent skills and the exhibition of those pedals. They do work so well with your harp and I am most definitely looking forward for further experiments!
even the idea to combine those pedals with a harp is a great thing. A lot of people don't even mind about combining "classic" instrument with modern stuff or even music.

I'm not one for pedals , but WOW !
I want one ...
These seem like nice pedals, but they are expensive and seem to be in high demand.
I will never recover financially from the day I started watching Emily's pedal videos.
The delay pedal really has something very melancholic to it with the bitcrusher enabled. Like robot tears on a cloudy day. Really cool :-)
“Robot tears on a cloudy day” is the PERFECT explanation!!! Lmao I love that
Is that why I was getting Vangelis vibes?
@@emilyharpist you inspire poetic thoughts, methinks
Now there is a album name if I ever heard one
This is now the name of a song on my next album… thanks for the inspiration
there's something about a bit-crushed harp that sounds so nostalgic and cozy
This is an unexpected sentence I was very happy to read
It brushes so close to disasterpeaces fez and hyper light drifter ost sound
I agree!! There’s only a very few bitcrushers I find work well on harp, and these ones are perfect for it!
Nintendo liked harps a lot in games for the DS, that's my guess why it's nostalgic
I play bitcrushed guitar a lot :) I would die if I could hear an entire album of beautiful, bit-crushed harp

Came for the pedals, stayed for the insanely beautiful harp playing. Thanks so much for doing this!

Bitcrushed harp sounds like listening to a storm at night, I adore it. Also, one of the nicest shimmers ever, sounds super smooth!

If The Road was a cyberpunk movie.
It sounds like a movie soundtrack, but the movie keeps changing. It's a science fiction horror with some melancholy romance interspersed. Love it!
