    PRAISE proper maintenance procedure. You are the first person doing electrical installation or service who has mentioned dielectric lube ! All the lightning protection features are null n void if corrosion gets in the loop. ! Automobiles, communications equipment ect. ALL use it...but I've yet to see it used on any other multi million viewed channels. Right on Davy. Oh uh and those plastic pipe thd.fittings can use a dab of silicone sealant to help them not friction seize. Luck on getting ot of that place .

    I myself like pasta in any form. But, hey. Each to their own. That being said though. Yes Erica, you are correct that lasagna is pasta in bolognese sauce. Maybe it’s all the others goodies that make it better?

    Davy, just a thought on my way of fixing exhaust flange. After applying jb weld, place some soft plasic on exhaust flange on bolt on, not to tight and leave till hard. Once set updo, take plastic of and saves alota filling. Before it sets you can make it look nice around motor side. Nice job, very well done 👌👌❤

    Erica, I'm the same. I don't like Lasagne, but do like Spagetti bolognese. The difference? Spagbol, doesn't have bechamel sauce. Great work on that engine, Davy.

    You are a true self sufficient sailor when you pull the engine while on the water away from a dock.
    I don’t know if you did it or not when painting tape up the hose barb connections. Water and oil can get between the paint and metal causing leakage even with a good tight hose clamp. John Deere was bad to paint the connections on some of their engines from the factory. Caused a lot of leaks.

  • @douglasrobbie9998

    Two items for engine and saildrive.
    For the exhaust, if you find the JB Weld does not hold up, look into a product called Pyro Putty which stands up to 2800 deg F temps. Comes in a 2 part paste (not epoxy) in aluminum and iron compatible versions. Cost around $70 for 6 oz, can be filed but can't be used on component where water will be in contact with it. I have used on damaged Volvo Penta exhaust ports.
    For the saildrives- about 15 yrs ago SV Ocelot rigged up a system for their saildrives that would help prevent saltwater getting into saildrive and let them know if there was a problem. Consists of a hole drilled into top of saildrive, hole is tapped and hose compatible nipple screwed in. Hose with shut off valve is attached and hose leads up to a semi-transparent gradation marked plastic container that is importantly above the waterline and contains transmission oil. With hose valve open, if a leak develops in any of the lower unit seals, transmission fluid from the tank will flow down tube replacing the leaked oil, preventing sea water from coming in. The lower level of fluid in plastic container is your indication that you have a saildrive seal leak.

      Used think same putty on radiator. Works very well on sealing hole in metal tanks. I know it as "Platley putty". 1 white and 1 black bar, once mixing correctly it turns cream colour and gives you plenty time. Smooth of just using wet finger.👍

    From my experience, i have plenty of these engines. It was always the sensor. I never had actually had to replace the sail drive seals. Even the local Yanmar dealer after 7 years told me don’t replace the seals unless there is actually a leak.

  • @gregrichards468
    @gregrichards468 2 года назад +1

    You need to check your exhaust elbow welds ,you will find they are cracked,that is were the corrosion comes from. water sits there when the engine is turn off, the tube is welded in side and out

    Are you discharging water overboard? First place to look if you haven't your video doesn't show or say you did that! Also noticed for future reference that your engine has lots of small rust areas on bolts etc. Good to adress those things like bolts etc. That rust! Rust is sneaky and I'm noticed till you can't get things apart. Corrosion Kills things quickly. Hope the best for your incident and is an easy fix! Smile and Sail on
