    Enjoyed part 2 of your CVNP hike.
    Enjoyed seeing areas I hiked recently. I was just at Deer Lick cave last weekend on a hike - after hiking Buckeye Trail to Station Rd and back to Oak Grove Picnic Area in Brecksville Reservation of Cleveland Metroparks.

    I love the Frazee House (Fray-Zee). Did you see Mud Catcher Falls along the towpath? It's about 1 1/2 miles north of Station Road Bridge on the right, just across the canal. It's a man-made water fall where the water runs over what is left of a canal viaduct. It's a really cool waterfall, and one of the best kept secrets in the park (though it is clearly visible from the towpath). It's not mentioned on any of the maps, which I feel does the falls a disservice (I have a picture of it if you want me to send one). Also, I assume you went behind Frazee House, through that little wedge of land, to pick up the path to enter Bedford Reservation. Did you see the Alexander Falls (aka Lindsay Falls), they're hidden back there.
    It's too bad you didn't get the Tinker's Creek Gorge overlook on tape, it's one of the best sites on the north end of the park.

      Didn’t know about either of the two falls. If I recall correctly, I considered the overlook but decided not to add the extra mileage. I was already planning on doing 26.2 in 24 hours and I rightfully assumed AllTrails would be wrong. I think it ended up being 28.5 miles and that was really all the more I wanted in like 25.5 hours lol

    Really like the video! Enjoyed following along. So much to see in the CVNP/Metropark’s. I know your more of an off the beaten path type of guy. If you ever wanna see an awesome waterfall that’s not on any maps that’s more of an off trail type of hike, park at the Station Rd trailhead and walk north towards the 82 Bridge. You go about half a mile and you’ll see the “Mudcatcher” waterfall, cross the canal and head up the creek and you’ll find big double water fall called twin sister falls.

      Yeah someone else had actually mentioned this in a comment. I had never heard of either of them before I made this video unfortunately. Thanks for the heads up I’ll have to check them out one day.

    Hey man love your videos. New subscriber here! I am from Akron area and just got into backpacking. Recently did a 3 day trip to Shenandoah. Came across your channel as I am looking for some beginner areas to take my teenage son for his first backpacking trip. I am thinking about CVNP or Mohican. Appreciate your videos man

    • @Bacon_N_Backpacking
      @Bacon_N_Backpacking  6 месяцев назад

      They're both good beginner trips. Be aware that CVNP only has three campsites in the entire park and doesn't allow fires. Mohican used to have 10 sites but is now down to 7 due to the tornado. It would tend to be booked full when there were 10 available sites, so I imagine availability will be even worse now and there's no way to pre-register. You won't know what's available until you get there.

      @@Bacon_N_Backpacking okay thank you for the info. Do you have any other ideas that would be a good option?

    • @Bacon_N_Backpacking

      @@anthonybrandenburg4411 If you want full dispersed camping options I'd go somewhere in Wayne National Forest. Archer's Fork, Scenic River, Wildcat Hollow etc. I have videos of all those trips on the channel. You can dispersed camp anywhere (within the forest rules) and don't need to worry about registering or running out of sites.

      Personally, I'd tell you to just get out of Ohio to backpack. Depending on where you live, there are spots in PA that are 2-3 hours away. You can go big and go somewhere in WV, most spots are only 4.5 hours away and it'll get you addicted to backpacking lol.

    Where are the camp sites located? I live 2 miles from the park and had no idea that there existed.

    You may have covered this in a previous video, but approximately how much does your backpack weigh on this hike?

    • @Bacon_N_Backpacking
      @Bacon_N_Backpacking  2 года назад +1

      With two liters of water and a full food bag I believe it came in just above 19 lbs, I think 19 lbs 3 oz. At the end of the hike with no food or water left it’s about 12.5 lbs

      Nope. Pretty much all of my gear is UL. Quilts are a pound each. Tarp is a pound. Hammock slightly over a pound. Nothing else is over a half pound except my Grayl. Heaviest items I have are always food and water.
