That last demo clip with the Tom Morello convinced me this is as useful or more useful than the Whammy. Until then, I've never seen a pedal that made me want to replace the Whammy. The fact it can do the same kind of 2 octave up bends is pretty amazing. And I agree. Pro Guitar Shop Demos are better than pretty much any others. Thanks guys.
You know what? I think if I hadn't watched that magnificent tone at 1:22, I could have saved myself $350 on a volume pedal, the harmonist, and a delay. Thank you very much ProGuitarShopDemos, thanks allot. :P
this seems like a nice alternative to a digitech whammy pedal especially if you have an expression pedal to control the pitch bends (or maybe even an E-H POG or some other octaver?)...plus it's smaller than both and smaller is better... ps...that happy major harmony pissed me off!
In front. Octavers and harmonizers track best with the cleanest signal possible. If you put OD-stages in the harmoniser, it will fight with all of the overtones your distorted signal contains. But I'd say, you wouldn't be the first one to creating a signature tone by messing up the order of pedals :P
Only if you are using two amps for a dual harmony. If you put a summed dual harmony summed mono into a distortion it turns to mush. You don’t get a clean two part harmony that way, you get the sound of one guitar playing both intervals. Same reason you don’t generally use a digital delay before the amp. Octavers are different because sometimes you want the octaves to run together. You can do anything you like, but it’s incorrect to say Andy “messed up”.
I'm trying to get the effect that Teppei Teranishi from Thrice uses in the chorus of their song "Image Of The Invisible". I know he uses a Digitech Whammy. But could I get the same effect using this pedal in the S-Bend-mode?
hey man great pedal, but what im really cureius about is the diffrence between de BOSS harmonist and the BEHRINGER harmonist. cus thats like 3 times as cheaper. thanks
@gredangeo Depends on the interval, and how you have them mixed. Say both are at 50/50 dry wet blend. Having the first be a fourth up and the sencond an octave. You'd get your original signal+a 4th+an Octave+a 4th one octave up.
I am planning to buy a harmonizer pedal precisely to play Boston/Queen leads! Apart from the price tag how does this pedal compare with the US600 from Behringer? I want to use it only as a harmonizer...
I have the PS-6 and the Boss FV-500-H and I’m trying to use the expression pedal to have intelligent shifting, but I can’t get sound out of the expression - only input. Anyone have any pointers?
Andy i noticed that u've played that DOGS riff, the guitar is actually doubled(and u probably know that) but im willing to play it on a band, the ps-6 can really make a good ''doubleing'' sound?I liked what i've heard on the video but asked just to be sure.
All I'm really interested in is the super bend effect on this, is there any dedicated pedal out there for that that isn't the digitech whammy? (which also has tons of modes I simply don't need)
hey andy ! happy new year ! between this baby and the hr-2 which one do you recommend all i'm interested in is harmony leads that you just played from boston , pink floyd and also thin lizzy uses a lot of leads like that ,as for the octaves i've got the oc-2 the ps-3 the pog-2 all i want is a pedal to harmonize leads is there any other brand out there besides boss. thank you so much for your help because it's becoming an obsession i never thought such a stompbox existed , god bless !
Hearing the harmonized Boston solo made me smile. Then Pink Floyd came, and I couldn't stop smiling. Nice playing and great demo. ;)
Pink Floyd's Dogs!!!!! Best fucking solo!!
RATM solo at the end sold this to me.
Piece of mind
seriously, Andy does the best pedal reviews on the internet. Makes my day too, I watch just to hear him play sometimes.
Nice touch with the Floyd riffs! Very underrated album. Love your demos! Always refer to you guys before I make a purchase.
Love that section when you play the solo to Dogs
one of the sickest reviews period.
You really set the bar Andy!
This is probably one of the most useful gear review videos I've ever seen. Thanks!
That power stack tone at the beginning sounds awesome!
This doesn't sound bad! Nice job Boss. This will be awesome in 15 years.
That minor harmony sounds awesome! And also, Killing In The Name... Nice.
The RATM solo is perfectly done. Well done Andy !
@libertyfalls - Just to clarify, there are NO John Mayer songs in this video. Thanks for watching!
-PGS Crew
The Dogs solo sounds really nice!
Bought this pedal, because of this video. Thanks for all your great demos.
What an awesome lil pedal! Thanks for reviewing this guys! I'm definitely adding this to my gear :-)
Peace of Mind!!! Andy You're my HERO!
2:42 You always put the Andy twist to the great tunes. Awsome
the rage solo was the bomb !!!
The Harmonist with the Acoustic simulator = 12 string on a 6 string electric :P
Would you put this pedal before a fuzz pedal or after?

Way to go, Boss! Excellent - as long as it doesn't go into chipmunk mode when producing high notes...
You know what? I think if I hadn't watched that magnificent tone at 1:22, I could have saved myself $350 on a volume pedal, the harmonist, and a delay. Thank you very much ProGuitarShopDemos, thanks allot. :P
Holy crap. that tracks surprisingly well.
"You're time is gonna come" was nice
Please tell me what the settings are that you used for the sample of the "Dogs" solo.
One of my favorite floyd songs. Very awesome
The octave up/down setting sounds POG-like
1:40 sold this to me.
Sounds good, the only thing that worries me is the noticeable latency between the dry and the harmony signals.
That Killing In The Name solo rendition was the final drop in making me trade my whammy for this. Oh, and cute shoes Andy ;D
This pedal is far supieror to the original HR-2 harmonist, and will be on my pedal board before my next gig!
5:15 this explains sooooo much!!
man this is like Tom Morello + Brian May in one single pedal!
friggin sweet! and great playing too, loved the morello part
this seems like a nice alternative to a digitech whammy pedal especially if you have an expression pedal to control the pitch bends (or maybe even an E-H POG or some other octaver?)...plus it's smaller than both and smaller is better...
ps...that happy major harmony pissed me off!
Have to love the DD-7 + PS-6 combination ( 1:38 - 2:18 ). How do you make this kind of sound man?
Yet another great looking pedal from Boss.
I wounder how the PS6 harmonist would sound like with the RV-7 stereo reverb on the (reverse) mode.
"Your Time is Gonna Come" off of LZ1.
Peace of mind - Boston ♥
BOSTON!! Well done, Andy!

I like this demo very much. Andy you are the best man!!!
Just got one and am having a blast with it. I can't wait to get in front of a beer-swilling audience of local yayhoos and blow their frickin' minds.
awwww no Maiden?
So if you put an expression pedal into this, it would essentially be a Digitech Whammy?
Wow! Boss opened a can of awesome on this one! Gotta make some space on the over-crowded pedal board!!!
delay and harmonist=Your Time Is Gonna Come by Led Zeppelin
looks like a must have.
BOSTON, MORE THAN A FEELING. THATS WHAT THE INTRO SOUDNS LIKE
Great job on the intro song Andy!
I want this extremely badly.
What song at 1:55? It's driving me crazy! I hear Led Zeppelin, but can't place it....
Great for pho organ sounds
2:25, Dogs, Fuck yeah
Pink Floyd sounded amazing!
3:20-3:56 reminds me of "Silver Morning" on Brian Eno's Apollo album…
Pink Floyd! Andy, you're simply amazing!
I'm trying to get the effect that Teppei Teranishi from Thrice uses in the chorus of their song "Image Of The Invisible". I know he uses a Digitech Whammy. But could I get the same effect using this pedal in the S-Bend-mode?
What happens if you put 2 harmonist pedals together in same signal chain?
The RATM Tom Morello stuff was spot on.
Dogs! Andy, as always, you are the man!
The PS6 sounds great and all, lovely with the delay. Despite that, 4:20 just sounds ridiculous!
Excellent rendition of "Dogs" BTW.
hey man great pedal, but what im really cureius about is the diffrence between de BOSS harmonist and the BEHRINGER harmonist. cus thats like 3 times as cheaper.
thanks
Peace Of Mind - Boston made me fangirl.
Did i hear Stryper? Awesome!
@gredangeo Depends on the interval, and how you have them mixed. Say both are at 50/50 dry wet blend. Having the first be a fourth up and the sencond an octave. You'd get your original signal+a 4th+an Octave+a 4th one octave up.
i wanna see a showdown between this, the pog 2, and the pitchfactor
Can you please share your Harmonist settings for your Hammond organ sound?
This looks like a really fun pedal to play with but the harmonies didn't sounded really organic to me.
rage against the machine, you're brilliant andy (as always lol)
should it be placed after distortion or b4 distortion pedal?
I am planning to buy a harmonizer pedal precisely to play Boston/Queen leads! Apart from the price tag how does this pedal compare with the US600 from Behringer? I want to use it only as a harmonizer...
i just got one, and im loving it
One of these days and it won't be long, You'll look for me but baby I'll be gone!
@DeadWhiteButterflies BOSS has many amazing pedals...their artist roster is a testament to this.
Probably better since it's getting a clean signal to track and harmonize with.
@ProGuitarShopDemos i found that the harmonizer sounds a million times better in the FX loop rather than in front
brian may !!! yeah
Boston and Pink Floyd fuck yeah! Thats music to my ears! Shit you just made my day bro!
I have the PS-6 and the Boss FV-500-H and I’m trying to use the expression pedal to have intelligent shifting, but I can’t get sound out of the expression - only input.
Anyone have any pointers?
Should've tried to do Satch's Searching, would've been pretty sick.
Andy is the BOSS!!!!
Andy i noticed that u've played that DOGS riff, the guitar is actually doubled(and u probably know that) but im willing to play it on a band, the ps-6 can really make a good ''doubleing'' sound?I liked what i've heard on the video but asked just to be sure.
finally some boss pedal demos!
fuckin loved the ratm end. such a good surprise
All I'm really interested in is the super bend effect on this, is there any dedicated pedal out there for that that isn't the digitech whammy? (which also has tons of modes I simply don't need)
this is some holy shit pedal man
could you show an example of this with a acoustic simulator pedal?
@zachatnca, Boston's-Peace Of Mind tune from the 70's of course. The solo begins at around 2:30 into the song. Enjoy!
You had to know Morello was gonna ' come out on this demo lol
hmmm i cat decide if i should get this or the digitech whammy
This is pretty good for a boss pedal, but I'd still get the whammy, it actually has a soul
could use it with a wah wah pedal me-20 to sound like a whammy?
hey andy ! happy new year ! between this baby and the hr-2 which one do you recommend all i'm interested in is harmony leads that you just played from boston , pink floyd and also thin lizzy uses a lot of leads like that ,as for the octaves i've got the oc-2 the ps-3 the pog-2 all i want is a pedal to harmonize leads is there any other brand out there besides boss. thank you so much for your help because it's becoming an obsession i never thought such a stompbox existed , god bless !
What is that second piece you played? Also, regarding your performance of "Killing in the Name of", well, this ain't no Whammy.
