Stargate SG 1: Funny Scene ("That's Daniel")

- Daniel resurfaces surprisingly, scantily unclothed. A genuinly funny scene. And also a little shippermoment at the end. Sam and Jack are fishing. PS: Sorry for the bad english. :-)
I love how it's gotten to a point where Daniel being naked is more of a shock than Daniel randomly coming back from the dead.
from the death
Daniel being naked or at least wrapped in a flag is ok by me! 😁
also a little strange at the end- to see Daniel in jeans and a camo jacket
John Crichton dies a few times too, I've been told. (Haven't seen Farscape myself.... yet. Any year now!)
@@ziiofswe the first few seasons were good, then it just got ridiculous and I stopped watching.
It may be a "long story", Dr. Jackson, but at this point you have died so many times the SGC has a keyboard shortcut to file that report.

I've always loved that Jack looked at the American flag, decided against it, and grabs the SGC flag instead, lol.
Cast and crew politics aside, they know who watches the show, and a lot of those people wouldn't watch it anymore if they desecrated the flag like that.
@@ClokworkGremlin lol how stupid
@@yomanyo327It violates the US Flag Code to use any part of a US flag as an article of clothing.
@@yomanyo327I'm not sure about drawing the flag on clothing, but it's fairly clear you can't use an actual flag to clothe yourself. It's technically a law that applies to everyone, but it's one that's essentially never enforced in the real world, which is why so many people get away with doing it. The military, however, is significantly more anal about these sorts of things, so it's pretty accurate for Jack to nope out of doing that.
@@marauderdz The US Flag Code literally isn't worth using the paper it's written on for toilet paper: It is one of the sole examples of congress passing a law and POTUS putting his signature on it and it's like it never happened, because there is no legal enforcement to it. It's a guideline. There won't be federal agents busting down your door for wearing the stars and stripes for a shirt because there aren't any punishments in the statute for violating it. You know why? Because SCOTUS had long before ruled you could pretty much do whatever you wanted to US flags as free speech protected by the 1st.
I always find it hilarious that there is a moment earlier in this episode where Sam wanted to look for Daniel and Jack was like "No. He's not dead and he will come back." They have just completely accepted it at this point that if Daniel dies, he's coming back.
Kind of like he’s got plot armor
Oh wait 😂😂
@@MistyCloudErisLune1827 I wonder if Daniel would prefer a little less armor, and some more clothes
@@toddkes5890he's just losing his pants all the time like Mitchell.
Invisible armor is alright
I like that the next time the ending of this scene is played there are fish in the pond lol
Daniel was the most shredded geeky nerd guy in history.
Well, he did spend years on a covert military team, running for his life, shooting, all that fun stuff.
*Chidi Anegonye has entered the chat*
He is the poster boy for the "Took a level in Badass" trope over the course of the series, and makes complete logical sense for him~
Henry Cavill atm honestly.
What's best imo is how his confidence increases as much as his sarcasm.
*draws his bayonet*
"Which end do the bullets come out of again?"
michael shanks get more buff and less nerdy as the show goes on.
I think his nerdiness is still on, especially in the last season when he kinda becomes the leader of the team, when they have to solve all those Ancient "Da Vinci Codes" to fight the Ori. But yeh, the buff is real and gets more real with every season. :)
Phil Shanks started lifting weights with Judge during the show, so he bulked up. ;)
Yeah Lexa Doig stuck to him like superglue when she got the chance.
But I liked the nerdy.
@@paulmichaelfreedman8334 not sure who I'm more jealous of.
This was the best ending for SG-1. The Jaffa had their freedom, Sam and Jack got together(kind of), the ultimate bad guy was defeated, Daniel came back from the dead(again), and the team relaxes after eight years.
Yeah SG-1 had two-parters like these several times. It wasn't uncommon that the show was renewed for more seasons at the last minute, and the directors didn't want to have the show end suddenly so they instead wrote things like Moebius and Reckoning that more or less wrap everything up, but usually leave a few plot threads open so that if they do get renewed, they still have something to work with.
In theory, all they would have needed would be to kill Ba'al (so the Continuum but with the old cast) and the galaxy would have been saved from all known threats; the last System Lords were killed by RepliCarter (except Ba'al and Anubis, the latter was defeated by Omar), the Jaffa are freed and the Replicators are gone.
So not only a fitting ending for the season but the whole show
There Ori storyline was a bit much and they killed of the Asgard (at least Thor's people) so in theory, deleting those seasons wouldn't actually change the show's ending at all.
Even SGA would still work out without the Ori storyline
@@Kanerudoyeah, all they'd have to do is change like 3 lines of dialogue from that one S2 episode where the Ori are mentioned
It might've also led to RDA being on set more often and having more guest appearances in SGA as the head of the SGC.
I like in 200 they edit in Vala and Mitchell.
False. It cannot be the best ending because there are no fish in his pond.

Remember he had been seeing parts of someone else's life for months and never mentioned it
@@paulramage7744 It was relaxing! Why would he! :-D
I never thought of that...
Okay I'm going nuts is what he thought
To be fair how many times have they gone through weird shit like having voices in their heads or seeing weird 'hallucinations' that were real and practically seeing ghosts or otherworldly creatures, anytime jack actually mentions it they all look at him like he's a nut. That happens to everyone else in the crew too, every single time they were met with skepticism and doubt which actually got pretty annoying after a while. Like, with all the things they've seen how the hell are they gonna just shrug it off as PTSD or whatever whenever someone mentions they're hearing voices or seeing things?? It's turned out to be true every time yet they still get treated like loonies, they even locked daniel up in the psyche ward once... 🤦♂
Daniel: "I do not want another near death experience."
Jack: "You do not do near death experiences Daniel. You go full death, every time. We are all getting tired of it."

@Maja DeBij "in those days".
Yeah, curious what you're trying to claim there. But I guarantee that us flag clothes existed before then. I'm just gonna tell you that things have not particularly changed between then and now with regards to people's respect for the flag.
@Robert Redford II Well this is the military, even if it was the fictional airforce. I'm sure the US military today still have the upmost respect for the flag as they did back then.
@Robert Redford II "in those days"
Uh...what?
Sometimes those ascended guys seems like guys from college who take a birthday party practical joke too far.
"Hey. Let's leave this Daniel guy powerless and naked in front of his friends."
"Dude I am SO there!"
In fairness, Daniel did that to himself when he reassumed human form. He was kicked out the first time, the second time was by choice.
I love how casual he just says-
"Nope! Wasn't me..."
Yes... just like "just another day at the office... and why isn´t there any beer in the fridge?"
After the first couple of funerals, they do not even bother anymore and just wait for the "Welcome back" party
Jack isn't buying it. No one's buying it. A hundred years later, it will still be on the shelf, because no one is buying it.
I love how after Daniel emerges, Bra'tac is all "Awww YEAH!" and grins..
For the longest time, I thought Lorn was the gay character the creators alluded to, until I looked back and realized it was Bra'tac.

Daniel got __buff__.
The ancient Greeks would approve of a man this dedicated to body AND mind.
Shanks was ALWAYS buff, he just hid it.

CoolsBreeze Because he likes that aliens are comfortable in their flesh.
Rosie Phoenix I like that viewpoint. I wonder if he would be smiling at the Asgard then since they're all "in their flesh".
I'm happy to help. :D
I love how thirsty Oma has always been for Daniel.
She's not sending him back naked all the time just to embarrass him. She's enjoying the view.
Since his memory got wiped the first time, I wonder if they were lovers during his first ascension. At least, lovers in whatever sense such beings can be. Which, if Oma is still thirsting for his mortal form like that...I'm betting it's not THAT different from normal.
I am reasonably certain they can take on physical form, if they want, so ...
@@tortenschachtel9498 I highly doubt they'd bother. What physical sensation could even begin to compare to the kinds of things they can "feel" in their ascended form?
Besides, we know they can retake physical form...but with caveats. Several of them have done it a number of times...or had it forced upon them, including Daniel.
In the last episode of season 8, I think it was, they came back from a time travel jaunt and there were now fish in the pond. "Eh, close enough", Jack said.
lol...yep. That was a shout out to "The Simpsons" doing something similar in one of the "Treehouse of Horror" episodes. O'neill being a Simpsons fan

Yeah with thirty or fourty years younger not a surprise. Daniel wasn’t skinny at the first place 🙂
Not for me....I'm a bloke!
which is interesting cause Daniel is only 13 years younger then jack.
@@KenshiImmortalWolf yep in the story of stargate. But in real life precisely between the actors there is almost twenty years that separate them .(18years).(i thought more) And age and genetic is enough to make difference 🙂

plus, he finally got her to go fishing!
Didn't that tape say there were no fish in your pond?
Gen. O'Neill: Close enough.
Jack looked at the American flag first HAHAHA I'm imagining him saying in his mind "NOPE NOPE too Marilyn Monroe".
Well that and he's a USAF general officer, he can't lightly desecrate the American flag.
also true but less funny.
I went with the Marilyn joke it just sounded better.
considering there are bermuda shorts and even underwear with the US flag on it, I guess this isnt that bad ^^
#Noobster
That's not the flag.
Just noticed at the end Daniel flinches when jack is about to cast the line because it was to close ... and then proceeds to set his chair up in the worst possible place...
Lol I never noticed that :D
Since I used to fish a lot, I noticed that the very first time I saw that episode. Rule number one hammered into our heads by my dad was, always check behind you when swinging, or never stand behind the one who is about to swing :D
Yeah but after he filched he was like hey I can just resurrect again if anything happens to me
Never noticed that!
And Jack is suddenly VERY interested in that one flag pole...
I'm sure that's not the only flagpole he's had his hands on recently.
I don't think he actually ever noticed it before today. He's like"Whatn the shit did this get here? Did I approve that? WHy is that here? No one can see it there... is it because thats my office? But.. its so wobbly.. did I ever knock it over?"
Daniel got kicked out of the accention club AGAIN and they took his clothes!
The look on Sam's face is freaking PRICELESS!!! Hahahahahaha!
I sincerely miss this show. What a great cast!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I re-watch it when I start to forget. Usually every 3 years. So good. Ironically, I used to hate it at first, when it came out.
How come when you ascend, you take your cloths with you but if you come back, you are always naked.
pforce9 you don’t take your clothes they’ve shown you this before
You are just light being, you don't even get to take your body. When in an ascended plain you just appear as you imagine yourself. Any clothing is an illusion.
I always thought this scene was HUGELY slashy. I mean...Jack's all awkward, he's stroking the flagpole, he's pulling down his shirt.
I love how Sam is like "Oh. God. Ok, avert your eyes.." and Bra'tac is like "Kid, you got gaaame! Good on you!.."
I do wish Michael had wrapped that flag a little lower on his waist, though.. I'm sure we're missing out.. ;)
The way Jack and Daniel both do that twitch-turn at the end 😂
A successful character arc for Daniel: he's finally become Jack-enough to let O'Neill retire
Bra'tac gave the most homosexual nod of approval iv ever seen lol
Well, he's not married and has no children.... read between the lines :)
YES I knew it. It wasn't just me
The Master likes what he sees.
If this show was written in 2016, they totally would have made him gay, rebelling against the Goa'uld so he can love who he wants to. He's already pretty much the Dumbledore of the show...
He sure did..I bet he is also sporting a gigantic broner ;)
Bra'tac be like: Awwww hell yeaah thats it :3
I just love how Bra'tac is like smiling & kinda nodding at Daniel while Daniel was covering himself with that flag lol
Lol Jack had to make a decision of which flag to wrap around Daniel's naked body, and he was "Fuck no!" with the USA flag
Michael Shanks is Canadian. Wrapping him in an American flag officially constitutes treason.

Evi1M4chine Thats not nationalism. Thats basic patriotism. You HAVE to have some respect for your home/host country. He is in pretty good shape. Great tan and good looking. A missed opportunity.
Janet Deloach he's buffer than Jack at this point which is rather funny to think about.
yea, you would think they would be like " how the hell did you get here?" but it's more like " why the hell are you naked?"

I think that bra'tac was just happy to see him magically appear. but it does look like he's checkin' out the goods
1:13 was my face exactly when I saw Michael Shanks come out of that door the way he did.
His body really changed during the series, from being an skinny nerd, to becoming sort of a soldier. I guess it was needed, since he had all these wild adventures. Even if he didn't work out, his body would still evolve, by the sheer pressure of his physical strain.
Not really, bodybuilder bodies aren't actually that great at anything besides showing off
Bra'tac nodding at Daniel always gets me.i think it's cos he can see Daniel now possesses the physique of a warrior.
Bra'tac's expression gets me every time!
Michael Shanks shirtless. I like it. I also love that our American hero Jack chose not to use the American flag. Love it!

Am I the only one who finds Daniel EXTREMELY attractive for an uber smart guy?
*u*
I so wanted this episode to last just a few minutes longer...
Just so that Daniel could at least tell them what happened ! Like if he knows it isn't his doing, does it means he remembers the experience this time around ? And does he only remembers his time in the astral dinner or being ascended too ? What about the knowledge of the Ancients ?
As much as i enjoy this scene i would have loved seeing Daniel tell them that as still an ascended, making a little joke about "privacy", going to Jack's office, descending, Jack still giving him the sgc's flag and then doing the debrief about what happened.
Would have been really funny !😎😅
Cute detail, O'Neill considered using the American flag, but then went to the SGC one.
Okay... third rewatch of the whole series, here I come
Scenes like this one are why this show was one in a million.
Anyone else noticed Daniel sets his "chair" right in the trowing line off Jack? xD
0:57 love how he briefly considers and discards using the Stars and Stripes
I was so happy when they brought him back into the show!
I remember seeing "Full Circle" the first time and literally jumping up in excitement and joy because I knew what that ending meant. He's BACK, baby!
Even the creators say, from that Moment on, Sam and Jack are supposed to be together. It just couldnt be shown, but they're together since that day. And i like the thought. Why isn't Bratac fishing though? And invite some Nox! And the Furlings! I want to see Furlings…
The fishing is to tie in later with another episode. in this Sam says 'there are no fish in the lake are there?"Jack- "No". in the episode where the a'shen have taken over earth, after SG1 put everything back as it were they are around the lake again and a Sam says "so everything is back as it should be" Jack answer "yes" then you see a fish jump in the pond & jack says "well near enough" or close to this. this ties in with the fact we know there are NO FISH in the pond, so what else changed?
i do love the setup of "theres no fish in this pond" bit, to a later episode after some... time thing? happens, and then, there are indeed fish in the pond.
"Colonel O'Neill, would you care to explain why there is an empty flag banner in my meeting room?"
"Well General, Daniel was apparently booted out of Ascension without his clothes, so I needed something to wrap him up in real quick."
"... ... ...How has my life gotten to the point that I don't even feel the need to question that?"
I've always loved the ending of this episode and later Mobius part 2. Just four friends hanging out, fishing, drinking a couple beers and enjoying a well deserved peace. You can tell they were setting aside a nice ending in case season 8 was their last.
Except there were suddenly fish in the pond!
"Anyone else hear that?" Jack is so calm about it. He's just so used to Daniel being dead and/or talking to him 'from beyond the grave' that it doesn't even faze him anymore.
Oh boy I love SG1, no other show has me feel for the characters like this. I love how tealc is a man of his word and saves the day, I love jacks Oniell'isms, I love daniels intelligence and I love carters body, ahem don s davis is a legend, tech Sargent siler can fix anything, I really like Jonas Quinns episodes, cant quite say the same for claudia black, her character was kinda week and predictable but AHHH I LOVE STARGATE
wow the moment Jack looked away a bird flew right past my window like it was in the show. TIMING
Notice Jack did not give Daniel the American flag, as that would have been too disrespectful and would have received hate for it.

no matter how many times I watch this clip the word Akward keeps coming to mind
Well that's a loaded question, Do you mean really died or do you mean how many times he was reported dead? And are you including the movie? Including the movie and only actual deaths of the Daniel from the main SG-1 reality he's died 4 times. He's been presumed dead at least 8 times (1 of those is him presuming he's dead) and other versions of himself died at least 4 times (not including alien body doubles, robots or virtual representations).
