    I think I built one of these in the early 1960's. It cost 2/6 (which was my weekly pocket money allowance) and came in a plastic bag. Ah, the nostalgia...

      2/6. Sherbet dabs were 3d. Polo mints I think 2d. Small chocolate bar 6d. Larger chocolate bar 1/-. Giant one a florin (2/-). Fruit salad sweets 1/4d. Memories, memories.

      @@mbak7801 I think this tooling was first released in 1968, before decimalisation. 2/6 became 12.5p. Now even the humble half-penny has been phased-out!
      Cadbury bought Freddos from MacRoberts, but they didn't go on sale here in the UK until 1973. Today, Sainsbury's are charging 25p (or 2 Airfix Hawker Demons!) for an 18g Freddo.

    Great build and paint on a rather old kit. I still like Airfix as they still release the older kits, and while these are rather simple builds they do provide us with the interwar planes that helped shape the pilots of the time into the aces of WW2. Thanks for sharing this with us!

    A lovely old kit. I've got two in my stash, I notice - have no recollection of buying the second one - but one is definitely now going to be painted in camouflage colours, to represent a machine from the early days of the last war. Some RAF bases used these as utility aircraft, or 'hacks', flying between airfields. These inter-war aircraft look very cool in camouflage.

    I'll hold my hand up and admit I'm a wargammer first and a model builder second but it makes me laugh every time folk mention the prices of models. £6 is peanuts in the plastic crack world 😄 it's one of the main reasons I'm looking to use models like this for large scale aerial wargames.

      That specifically refers to the factory in the uk which is currently producing the new spitfire. This kit probably came from India which is another location that Airfix contracts to mould models, it would seem their QC is poorer

I painted it all-over yellow and resulted a.candy with wings. I love my hawker demon. I will start working on my 1/32 stearman and I'm absolutely sure that this lil one, will always win as my pet biplane. As there's no 1/32 hawker demon, I will build it using a drawing or a blueprint. Comparing Hawker with Stearman, will be an interesting match. Kudos.

    • @carlosballesteros4670
      @carlosballesteros4670 Год назад

      @Model Minutes yes, I watched the whole video and indeed, you placed the decal. The question is: on which surface you placed the decal? I just cut a piece of styrene and shaped using the decal. Later, I glued the "panel control" to the fuselage. Once was ready, I pai Ted the whole unit, the "panel" along the fuselage. Once I paint overall yellow (fuselage, lower and top wings, rudder and elevator all in place), I will place the decal the same way you did on your model. Thank you very much for answering. By the way, your "Demon" looks fantastic! Kudos from Mexico.
