How ever did you assemble so many flat track racing videos? That's Clyde Denzer at the start of the video, providing a candid description of the engineering challenges that the Harley-Davidson racing team faced as Honda improved its design, as well as his typically "cool as a cucumber" character that endeared him to so many colleagues in that fascinating sliver of Americana. Thanks for posting this.
I was'nt aware of this TV coverage, thanx for the post. I was there for this, coz I remember my wife bought Ricky Grahm T-shirts for the kids! Also I saw H-D first display of their "new" 80 cu.in. Evolution motor that day.
Scott Pearson was my neighbor when I grew up in San Jose. We had lots of orchards nearby to ride our dirt bikes. I bought my first bike from him. It was a clapped out Honda mini trail 50. When I took the carb apart, there was a nail instead of the throttle slide needle! I’m surprised that it actually ran like that.
Lots of hard dicing in close quarters. A fairly hairball deal. Pretty hairy track. The drafting is amazing on this one. What a crew of hard chargers. Graham, Shobert, Goss and lots more fast guys of that era.
I have some good photo's of you, J Springsteen, G Scott, Poovey, Goss, Hank Scott, A Jorgenson, Shobert, all side by side, like the fingers on a hand, around turn 1-2 at the San Jose Mile, c1980-84. .
Back when the Hondas came out of basically nowhere to slap around Harley. The ONLY reason Harley dominated for so long is because 98% of the time they had no manufacture competition, they raced against eachother.
The XR750 the Greatest Harley Ever Made, Even the Man himself Evel Knevel rode One, & Harley Never Ever made a Road Version Available to the Public!! Bloody Idiots!! I'm sure like me there are 1000's of Non Cruiser Riders that would have Bought a Registerable Harley XR Flat Track Special if Available!! 🤨
The GOATS of AMA flat track racing. This is great to s...omg I grew up at all the race tracks..,East coast Geneva, Schenectady, Belden,..❤️💯🔥

Yes we have to do alot....like to get the AMA to make Honda restrict air intake by 2mm ...to slow the Hondas down...
11:21 Draft and pass from 3rd to 1st place.
I was there🏍🏁
58 seconds we will have to decide if we build a new motor or alternately penalise the Honda for having a superior engine.
