It’s like most things in life, depends on your skill level and access to quality tools. If you’re trying to teach yourself then work on something you can afford to loose. Work in sections. Take the upper joint apart, put it back together, then the lower section. It’s very easy to mix up parts. It was awhile ago since I made the video. I don’t remember if I mentioned mounting your elbow. That is the most important technique. If you don’t, then you may stab yourself very badly. I’ve known technicians who have made this mistake. A quality screw driver is also very important. Something with the right head shape so it is less likely to slip out or chew up the screw or rod you’re working on. Best of luck if you’re trying to work on your own equipment.
NO WATER ON THE CORRRRKKK
What are all the materials you used to clean the instrument in this video?
Could a novice do this type of maintenance?

Do you not use a screw board?
Screw boards are great for beginners, but after doing thousands of these? It just becomes unnecessary.
Good to know! I just started an apprenticeship and was wondering about that.
Hey congrats man! It’s a fun field to be in. Best of luck to you.
Thanks! I’ve been managing a music store for 5 years and it’s so hard to find a decent repair tech.
