Those kind of "I hate my life" days when workouts just DONT click, are the ones that seperate your PR's and sharpens your discipline to make it happen! Good job really good solid workout regardless of the mood. If you smashed this workout, imagine with good condition, good mood and CRAZY race adrenaline how much better you will perform in valencia! Good luck. Stay composed! Keep up the great videos really inpiring to get up and training on days we dont feel like it.
Those efforts are as hard in their way as the race itself. My best ever was a straight half marathon, solo, at 1:18 before I ran 2:38. A woman I coached ran 16M @ 2:52 pace with pacers, 5 min rest, then 6:00 for one mile on the track. Her previous PR was 3:12. She ran 2:53 PR to win the race. You got sub-2:25, just be smart and relaxed.
The editing on the last rep, the music, Kelly's encouragement etc were spot on! And good to know that I'm not the only one screaming words inside my head whenever it gets tough during sessions/races. Good luck!
Great effort - well done! I have to try to remember this 2:26 now after I watch your vlog from Valencia, really curious to see how it goes (factoring in conditions of course!) A side note: the video annotation with times, speeds, and brief descriptions are really helpful and nicely done so that they don't take from the video. A lot of running is naturally heavy on numbers so it's great to be able to easily keep up.
Great running Matt. You may have felt rubbish, but you still looked really smooth. Another big session banked, I'm sure it will come together at Valencia. Great encouragement/commentary by Kelly 👍
There is something to be said when you have a session that feels awful the mental boost it gives when you realise that if you can bank that session feeling awful imagine what could happen when things are optimal. I have a good feeling that you are going to smash this marathon in Valencia. Great running and hope you get the outcome you want 💪
Thats am talking about👍🏻💪 well done!!! U have improve alot bro!! U have be strong in ur head! This is the way to success .. and this is only way to success! I hope all the best to ur race day❤💪🙏
Unbelievable 😳 I found that tough to watch never-mind run it! Awesome effort. Re. eating 4 hours before…I think I’d find that too long a gap. Do you start feeling hungry before you start?
Great workout. I did something similar two weeks before my marathon, 2x10k with a 2k warm-up, a 2k float between intervals and 2k cooldown . I was also wondering, seeing as you have Stryd, as to what it has predicted as your time for Valencia?
Sounds like a great session. How did the marathon go? Stryd loves me and gives me crazy optimistic prediction of 2:16. I think I’ll be a bit more cautious than that 🤣
@@TheWelshRunner It was Yorkshire marathon last month and was only my second marathon. I was aiming for sub 3.30 and managed 3.27 which was very close to the Stryd prediction.
Well done chap, session banked, at the end you looked like I felt tonight, just started my Marathon Training for TCS London 2023, Tonights session Temps 6 degrees, 4 Mile WU, Track Session based on 5k Speed 400, 800, 1200, 800, 1200, 800, 400 & then a 3 Mile cool down, Brutal and Savage where my exact words tonight, on tired legs after 10k race at weekend and easy 5 miler day after, Garmin is still not impressed though...cum on Garmin let me get some productive going...
If you search for the 'Sweat Elite - Sub 2:20 Marathon Project | E12 - Berlin Marathon' Matt Fox mentions about 5 minutes in. Seems to be one of the main ingredients of Maurten gels.
Depends what you mean? If you mean consistency it’s like a thick solution. Closer to SIS than a Maurten jelly type consistency. Maltodextrin is the main ingredient for SIS Go gels and Beta gels. Maurten gels use glucose and fructose. Maurten drinks use maltodextrin. I mix maltodextrin powder with water and electrolytes. It has worked better for me (normally) and is massively cheaper and allows me to carry less on race day as I make the concentration high.
@@TheWelshRunner Thanks Matt! That's perfect! I was thinking since it's that liquid like in consistency, I could set it out as drinks (should I get elite bottle service at a race) and do something that way. I'm all for testing new things since I'm thinking about going back to the marathon next year at some point.
No I think it was great timing. I went on to run a 5 minute Pb with a time of 2:24. It was the best race of my life and with such a short training block I testament the time down to many things but definitely these big sessions as the most specific work. How much volume and intensity a person can handle is individual based on training experience and learning from recovery times in training.
Hi need your advice im doing a fast tempo Thursday and have to very hilly bits to go up how slow would you roughly go up them if you did. My target pace is 6 30 to 6 40 for the hole long run.?.. thanks

Kelly is such a great support. I can't wait to see how you do at Valencia. You two are an inspiration.
Really hope one day I can be ticking off 5:30 miles like it's nothing too! Nice one Matt.

Great training session! A lot of willpower! If it was easy everybody would do it ! Keep on the good work. I have Malaga marathon in 2 weeks!

Everything went wrong EXCEPT the only thing that matters... the fact that you finished it, YES!!!!!!!!!!! 💪🏻🏃🏾♂💪🏻
Can’t wait to see how you get on in Valencia. My son and I are going to try to find a live stream and spot you running!
"4 x 6k of hell with 1k of hell between each" - i bet this translates to an awesome race day. Either way, completely inpsiring!
Great running Matt. You may have felt rubbish, but you still looked really smooth. Another big session banked, I'm sure it will come together at Valencia.
Great encouragement/commentary by Kelly 👍

Within is where we get our strength or Kelly on bike giving you great support 😂

What is the name of that song you play at the beginning and through rep number 2?

Is the maltodextrin mix you make more maurten gel-like or more like an SiS type of gel?

Great job. I need a training partner as Kelly, thumbs up 👍🏻 to her

Where are they £100?!
90 pound outlet village nike swindon
Don't know who told you to get the Alphaflys for £160 😬🤦🏻♂️... Sorry!
Here in the US, I've seen them for $100 and people still don't want them

Just maintain the same effort
