I think the main reason that those people are "not trying", is 1) because it is low elo, so people have not build pvp mon's or they are newer players, or 2) because until rank 10, it doesn't matter if you win or lose in terms of ranking up, and if you lost a lot before you hit rank 10, you will be queued against worse opponents
The only time low ranked matches really get serious is when a new season rolls in and everyone's rank resets. It's only when you get around level that things really start to get heated. Edit: Level 20

Quagsire is actually an extremely good Pokemon in the great league, ranking twelfth as a shadow and twenty-second as a non shadow. It helped me get to rank 20.

It doesnt really get serious till around rank 18 by this time of the season. Its the early season when the ranks reset when lower levels have higher contention . (i had an ocd attack when i saw u level up the bad iv noctowl to battle please dont do that again :") )
The noxious swamp event started about an hour and a half ago for me and I got on an hour in, first two checks were both Skrelp and the second was a shiny, then the very next check was a shiny gulpin

I'm sorry, but this proves nothing. On lower levels the battles seem easy and many people throw (or even quit) their battles because you don't need to win everything to level up. But rank 19/20 is where the real push begins. That's where the algo also kicks in and tries to keep you at around 53% of wins, it will hard counter your team just to keep the balance. However there are no bots in the pvp, it only seems at those low levels because those players dont care about the meta, don't have double moved mons, don't know the switch/shield tactics at most times... So yeah, even thought i like your videos, i don't really like this one. To me it makes no sense to talk about meta before level 20, it will only help you rank up faster.
All this time youtubers were fighting if there was an algorithm or not and in reality there are a lot of bots in GBL. What a ground breaking finding Brandon!
Funny thing is though that most people who were in that tournament used the same team of Pokémon because the PvP isn't nearly as deep as people think it is
Brooo don’t starpiece before you even do the battles. Just wasting time on the starpiece. Do battles, pop starpiece if you won enough, claim rewards. You can then get a another whole set in on the same piece :)
I always throw games every time we don't have to win a battle for research. It's not a part of the game that I will ever enjoy. More power to those who like it and continue to get better at it. I just don't have the patience to learn.
