This is a Laurel and Hardy landmark ! They accomplished films that last through the ages. Hopefully they will be revisited by future generations looking for true comedy !

Every year in October there is a Laurel and Hardy festival at the base of the steps in Laurel and Hardy Park across the street.

The SOCIETY OF OPERATING CAMERAMEN (now) SOCIETY OF CAMERA OPERATORS contributed to a commemorative plaque at the base of the stairs. We plan to create another plaque this summer, 2023 that will be more noticeable to the many tourists and film lovers around the world who visit.

Piet Schreuders is a name I associate with The Beau Hunks music group! It must be the same man!

coltsuperocean10 I would refer to a small area that has a few steps as stoop,in my construction projects I call it a stoop.

Thanx for the info. I wonder if that's a hold-over from its days as New Amsterdam.

It's interesting that you are Dutch because the word "stoop" (which is almost never heard anymore) entered American English by way of Dutch. Or am I assuming too much? Are you Dutch? Do Americans still use the word "stoop"?

In 1979, Echo Park was not a good place to be.... this guy was either crazy, or on a suicide mission!

It hasn't gotten much better in 2022. Silverlake isn't the best place for visitors to casually stroll.
