  • ( www.TFLcar.com ) The new 2014 Chevrolet Silverado is all new with three different engine choices. In this exclusive, fun and informative TFLcar review we take the test the brand new pickup truck both on road and off-road. We even try towing with the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado to see how it handles a heavy load. But perhaps most importantly we for many TFLcar viewers we see how fast the new pickup with the 5.3L V8 is from 0-60 MPH. We also take the new Chevy Silverado off-road and get it wet and muddy to test how it handles the rough and rutted roads just out side of San Antonio, Texas.

    I'm in Edmonton guy, my Chevy's are king. my Chev will out last any other, I take her hunting, camping, she helps run my company, workes round the farm. every day she workes, I have a 2001 duramax, 370,000, and still as strong as she was new.

    I've got a 2010 LTZ crew cab that does everything it needs to do, with a very smooth, quiet ride. I can't imagine needing the truck to do something it can't. I guess when it's time to get a new one, I'll get one a couple years old, just like I did with the one I have. No need to rush out & trade mine in.

You could be correct....or maybe we've produced other videos featuring nothing but this new trucks design and interior and connected them to this video with a hyperlinked annotation. You could click on those videos and get a closer look at the truck or you could just be a troll and show us how really smart you are with your "insightful" comments.

    I live in northern Ontario, sometimes when I get up in the morning the snowplow has left a ridge of snow at the end of my driveway, having a truck you figure you can just drive over it and shovel later but not if you own GMC or Chevy, their so low you risk ripping your front bumper off....what a great truck, thanks for all that clearance.

  • @2StrokeSmokes
    @2StrokeSmokes 11 лет назад

    to all the people bitching about ground clearance, its better the way it is! They do that for fuel efficiency, handling, and making it easier to load things into the bed. This height works for most buyers, and if it don't, then a simple lift kit will work! Its not a big deal!

    I guess I should have used the term "more rigid" frame. Yes, there needs to be some flex, but if the truck is to be used off-road, the flex has to be very minimal to avoid having the twisting forces being applied to the body, rather than the frame. C-channels don't work well in this area, but they are fine for towing heavy trailers on-road.

    Guys start with a $60,000 truck and add to it...lift kit, wheels, tool boxes...that alone adds about $10,000, then there's the chips, cold air intakes, exhaust, etc...and yes, they get muddy...but they also clean up well!

    I haven't looked at the new trucks but the parts on the front of my 1999 GMC 3500 are smaller than the parts on my neighbors new F150.It's always fun to watch the front ends go all over the place at the truck pulls.As far as getting stuck worry more about the low hanging frame they use so soccer moms can get in easier.

    This is one sweet truck! the 0-60 tim is good for a big crew cab 6 1/2 foot bed with 4wd and a big v8. but my 2008 chevy silverado reg cab 6 1/2 bed 2wd vortex v6 with 200hp does 0-60 in 7.8 sec timed many times by me and my friend over and over. it shows weight has a big part in 0-60 even with a big v8 i like the truck alot!

I'm just not blown away by this truck and it was a chance to make a statement with a re-engineer...but it looks more like a refresh...too bad, because I'm sure the new drivetrains will be damn good (GM strong point)

    A lot of that has to do with the giant plastic air dams they put on the bottom edge of most new truck bumpers. They're trying to do everything they can to improve those all important highway mpg numbers. luckily those air dams are typically easy to remove if you need more ground clearance for off-roading.

    Finally, someone got more chrome on the front of a vehicle than the Lincoln Navigator.
    Chevy is a day late and a dollar short in building a truck with a "dominating" front end coming as it does after the second generation Ram and the Ford F150/250 etc. are already crowding the roads.

    Nice upgrade for GM. For the haters of Tundra, Toyota and Ford are equal in the percentage of their trucks being built in the US. Ram HD's are all assembled in Mexico. The real test is how these trucks are after 100+K miles. Toyota holds up much better than the others.

  • @ifeelikesnowboarding

    I work at a chevy dealership.
    these trucks have a lots of power and seats are really really comfortable
    the downfalls are the trucks are to quiet and to low for my liking

  • @jazzdude904
    @jazzdude904 11 лет назад

    The frame of the Tundra is not weak. It is important to know that the Tundra's frame is designed to flex, much like a semi truck. Semi-truck frames are designed to flex with an open c-channel in the back. This allows the truck to gain leverage on a trailer when towing. But, the Tundra needs a diesel. I would like to see Toyota's 4.5L V8 diesel dropped in the Tundra. It produces 265HP and 480lb. ft. of torque. Estimated mpg 20 city 24 hwy. And I would like to see Toyota finish the 7.0L V8 diesel

  • @jazzdude904

    Well, Tundra's are equipped with a limited slip differential rather than a locking differential. I think this is because Toyota is aiming for a more on road towing vehicle with moderate off road capabilities rather than having moderate towing power and excellent off road capabilities.

    There is a few different reasons why they have less ground clearance...
    1. Fuel mileage (Aerodynamics)
    2.Crash compatibility to other vehicles(Cars)
    3.Better on road handling ( Lower Center of Gravity)
    4.Fuel mileage !

    Those halo lamps are rare on this model even in the $40k trim. Nice grill but those steppers are hideous. There are better steppers that's doesn't feel like a 1990s throw back. I got a Crew Cab LZ model with leather/white stiching for $36k. I got lucky as most LZ models have cloth seats. V8 real world driving...I get only 16-17 MPG average combined thought sticker claimed 19MPG combined. V8 kickes in everytime you push on the gas or brake. V4 kicks in when you set cruise or let go of the gas.

    most people who do buy trucks or suv's often go for the bottom-of-the-line models that have little tech, cheap materials and are meant to be work vehicles while very few go for the top-of-the-line models that are all techy, are covered in pricy materials, and are nothin' more than just pure, luxury vehicles that are not meant for working purposes....that's the difference from what I see

    There truly is a limit you can get out of naturally aspirated engines without sacrificing engine life. Chev's new 2014 v6 is 285hp..that's like dark ages if you're comparing cylinders. I would have bought a chev in a second if their numbers were better. There's nothing wrong with buying antiquated technology if it's reliable, but not at the same price as the competition when even Dodge give you a 390hp v8. I got Ecoboost and it was a good choice if not the best. Chev is looks hands down winner

    It makes a LOT more torque. Its 40ft lbs peak, but it comes in at a much lower RPM, and then has a nice flat torque curve. It makes towing really nice.
    And this new V8 is not proven. Its not an old OHV engine. The MDS system adds a lot of complexity which is very expensive to fix when it needs replacement (And I know two people that have needed it done).

    Not just more torque, but a TON more torque, about 40 more pound feet to be exact. Plus most of that torque comes on early at around 2k rpms. That "old school" OHV V8 may be reliable design but this new gen EcoTech3 has not been proven yet. Give my the Twin Turbo V6 any day over the gimmick of Displacement on Demand crap that shuts down the moment you start to climb up ant kind of incline!

    basicly what he did was reach into the retro bag and pulled out styling Q's from the chevy c\k 1988-1998 generation in the front. I still like the mean looking 2003-2006 silverados front the best. this one has a bold look to it better then soft look the last gen had that's for sure, but the 2003-2006's had a mean look to them.
