@@professorboondoggleHey, I have a quick question. So I had a great time playing Morrowind yesterday with my mods and there were no issues. Today however the game won’t boot because the system can’t find the Qt platform plugin. Any advice?
Great video dude. this is exactly the kind of tutorial i want when i look up how to mod a game. not overly long, no 15 minute preamble. just right into modding the game explained concisely. wish i could like this video 100 times
Hahaha thanks! I’m the same way I just want the steps, don’t need their life story. I want to make more tutorials for modding but not sure what I’d cover
@@professorboondoggle much appreciated! sorry to ask another question of you, but do you happen to have any insight into how you install omwaddon/omwscript files through mo2? i know you can select an option in openmw player but it doesn't seem to work for me...
So at least for me, I extracted them to the data files folder in my morrowind installation, and then when you run mo2/OpenMW and it creates an esp you can click to activate the omwscripts
You are the man! Thank you from an old gamer going on sixty soon enough. I started in the early 70s with Pong and then an Atari console, what an upgrade. Your guide was immensely helpful to me. I have PC gamed for a few decades now but I have never modded or done anything like this for any of my game titles. I see by your video I can do FO4 or FONV too. Thanks again.
@professorboondoggle Absolutely helped! I would not have been able to do it without your guide. I like the way you have MO2 exporting to and opening the openMW app. I have never played Morrowind before. It's a great game, even in 2024. Thanks again for the tutorial and holding our hands along the way. Knowledge!
This video is an absolute life saver! Was not able to get .49 to work because i didn't have a x64 redistributable installed but MO2 auto downloaded it for me. Without MO2 i would've never figured that out..
This isn't working for me. I export, launch through mod organizer, but the settings never save. I can't easily describe it, but it's as though every time I launch through the mod organizer, I cannot do anything to change any settings. For a while, I was stuck with skipping character creation which would boot the game straight into the arms of a giggling naked creature that would immediately end my short miserable life. I could change the spawn location to Seyda Neen, I could untick the skip character creation box, but nothing would change. I don't really understand what I am doing wrong. These troubles only began after adding the exporter, but idk why.
What theme are you using in MO2? Apparently someone else has had issues with Dark Theme and having their settings save. www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/52345?tab=bugs Also, make sure the openmw files in your MO2 profile aren't set to read only, and also check your openmw folder in documents for the same thing. If new mods aren't being loaded in it means something is not allowing it to save over the old one. As for the naked giggling creature, I have no idea what that could be might be a mod creator trolling you, trying running the game with all your mods turned off.
@@professorboondoggle I was able to fix the previous problem with a clean reinstall of both mod manager and openMW. The naked giggling creature is no longer assailing me - as far as I can tell it is vanilla as it was doing that even w/o mods. Just seems that openMW by default plops you next to him if you choose to skip character creation without specifying a location. Now, it's just weapon sheathing which is giving me a headache. Most mods seem to work except that and glow in the darhk for some reason. Probably I'll have to tinker with it.
Glad you got parts of it fixed! If you're talking about this mod www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/46069 you need to toggle it in the OpenMW settings under Advanced->Visuals->Animations
got to the end hit play and now my game crashes every time i try to load i RIP. couldn't figure out how to salvage the game kept getting an error had to do a fresh install of OpenMW no idea what i messed up.
@@professorboondoggle I kind of went scorched earth on my files I had 6 mods installed manually already and openMW was installed in a different drive then MW so figured at worst going clean slate could not hurt anything. Turned out there was a invalidation bsa in file archives making it happen even after the fresh install not sure what happened but at least the game is running again.
When I have a modlist such as Path of The Incarnate installed, and I try to install another mod such as fatigueless running, it does not work. It shows up in ModOrganizer but not in OpenMW. Propably because there is some pre defined list that I have to alter somehow?
Never used the Path of the Incarnate mods list so I’m unsure of how it’s installed in the first place but you should be able to add mods manually outside of mod organizer as well and then activate them in the OpenMW launcher itself
On the left hand side on Mod Organizer I only have the two DLC and not the other 3 named unmanaged. The only thing i did different was i installed OpenMW 0.48. I have been at this for hrs!! I just got this damn laptop and always wanted to try Morrwind like this. Also i know absolutely nothing about computers or mods. Please Help.
You might have to manually search for it in MO2 wherever it’s installed when setting up an instance, if it’s not picking up the game automatically. You could also try reinstalling the game. I’m not too familiar with Morrowind on Steam though sorry :(
Hi Professor. I recently transitioned to OpenMW and using OpenMW player. I finished installing a huge modlist and the testing has run like a dream. However, I just need to do the delta plugin process to start my playtime and I having problems. I would appreciate if you can do a video dedicated to that.
@@professorboondoggle I moved the delta plugin folder into tools/mods and ran the executable. Typed the proper imput and pressed Enter and apparently it was sucessful because I got the message "Done" and the expected delta plugin.owaddon in the folder, but I knew there was something fishy right away because I have a huge modlist and the process was instant and also there weren't any other messages besides "Done", so I suspected that the deltaplugin.exe hadn't found my plugins and the merge was empty, which it proved to be the case.
Once you have all your mods installed, make sure to run the export list command again in MO2. So at least for me, the deltaplugin.exe doesn't work at all. So I have to run a command prompt from windows, if you type cmd in the search it'll show up. And then I enter this into the command window "E:\Games\OpenMW\Tools\delta_plugin.exe merge --skip-cells E:\Games\OpenMW\Tools\delta-merged.omwaddon". But obviously change it to fit the location of your delta plugin folder. And then once it generates, grab the omwaddon file, put it into your Morrowind\Data Files, close and reopen Mod Organizer and it'll be in the plugins side as an esp. Activate the esp, reexport the load order and open the OpenMW launcher. Should work from there.
openmw 0.48 wont accept the path for the morrowind dir, openmw 0.47 does. but that version doesnt allow me to tick the boxes for the archives once the mods have been loaded. can i please have the link specfically that is your 0.49.0 build? thanks
