    Great synth. Great synth. In my opinion there is no other synth in this price range that has the same multitembrality and the same number of oscillators, filters and the same extensive mod matrix.

    Also a fan of sound design the blofeld has come onto my radar as I’m shifting from a long time DAW user to hardware… I love the features involved and price point alongside its size as I have minimal space here in NYC… great video by the way… How long did it take until the glitching and encoder issues started happening for you? You say you have had it for many years… Also as for saving custom patches does it offer a lot of memory in that department? Looks like an amazing device for something that is was designed 17 years ago otherwise…

    • @johnnyposh
      @johnnyposh  Год назад

      Lots of room for custom patches, theres a program where you can load via sysex. As for encoders was about 5 years before it started to happen.

      @@johnnyposh oh okay... yeah i see endless posts about people saying encoders break and monitor glitches so was worried it happens within a few months... Just like the OPz everyone saying it double triggers and bends. I bought one anyway never had any issues... Looks like I will be ordering the blofeld... The only other complaint i hear is the menu diving can be intense... but I feel that is a plus haha as I love experimention... haha... look forward to your future videos... have a great day...

    • @johnnyposh
      @johnnyposh  Год назад +2

      Well hope you find a good one to order, think you will be quite pleased with it! Treat it well and the encoders should be fine, its a weird problem sometimes their glitchy sometimes not, the joys of hardware.

      @@johnnyposh hahaha... i was trying to seek out alternatives that were more modern but everything was either quadruple the price with less features, massive in size or just didnt have enough features to compare... I have to have it custom ordered to my local store in manhattan and they already told me no returns so that always makes me nervous... I see one being sold on amazon but even in the reviews people are saying it broke within a week so thats the only thing keeping me from buying one immediately.. well that and my budget only allocating so much for equipment i want over what i actually need hahah... GAS levels maximizing!!! hahah

    Good breakdown on this synth. I could by a keyboard version for $800 CAD and I'm thinking about it but I really want an Access Virus. How would you compare these two synths since have both.

    • @johnnyposh
      @johnnyposh  Год назад +1

      I do know for some reason the keyboard version of the blofeld is way buggier with the encoders then the desktop for some reason. I would say the blofeld is easier to get a deep warm sound out of but always find myself reaching for the virus first as it just has a more complex edge too it that really stands out and blows you away so to say. Hard to play the blofeld live whereas the virus shines in jam sessions. The blofeld sounds like more classic wavetable synthesis whereas the virus is more future sounding.

      As I have both, the Blofeld and the Virus (Darkstar = TI2), the best you can get ... is both. Although they seem(!) similar, I think, they are quiet different. The real insight you can get when you create your own patches. Pretty straightforward if you get familiar with them ... the user interface of the Virus is (for me) more intuitive. Both have a powerful mod matrix and offer wavetables. I like the Blofeld as being my "PPG for the poor" 😉.

    I am thinking about to buy this synth because I have space issues , I do not have enough room for hugh synths.
    One question , does it really make sense to use it without the SL-license?

    • @johnnyposh
      @johnnyposh  11 месяцев назад

      Glad to hear! As for the SL license it just allows you to load samples in, so imo total waste of money. It essentially just unlocks some ram inside the blofeld (early subscription method)

      Do you think the synth is also made for hip hop type beats?

    • @johnnyposh
      @johnnyposh  11 месяцев назад

      @@christophschumacher640 I cant really speak for it being good for hip hop, but i defs know it has a massive preset list for many good sounds that could go well for hip hop, like good pianos, pads and some leads. Most the patches are kind of "dated" to that 2000's era of music.

  • @SouthShoreSonics

    I'd say 90% of people bought that little module, but I went with 3 Blokeys and 1 module. The module is "mini me" compared to the full sized keys.
    Never had a problem with the encoders on all 3 keys except for one, as I edited the s^^t out if it for my Tutorials on RUclips. This one I gave to my older brother.
    Regardless, pretty reliable and the encoders IMO are better than the Modwaves.

      Module is defs mini me compared to the keys, keys is a proper sized keybed. Did you get all the same color keys? Curious to know if the keys certain colors had questionable encoders over the other color as the one white one ive had my hands on had encoder issues.

    Usually the alleged digital sheen is from poor gain staging. If done correctly the Blofeld shines, but the bandpass filters on the Blofeld are really aliasing, regardless of my gainstaging. 127 as oscillator levels is a recipe for trash.

    I never understood the fuzz about the Blofeld. Compare it to a MW1/2/XT/XTK and I have no more comment. Which doesn't mean it is not usable for 300$.
    But I'm afraid my 30-voice XTK wipes floor with this toy...cuz it sound sterile, just like the Iridium that even did not last for more than 3 hrs in my studio...
