    Hi Sir, the best channel on RUclips thanks for sharing. I have one question please. I am going to glue down engineered hardwood floor myself. I had a professional team come in and do the self levelling compound so good to go. Do I need to prime the floor before glue down?

    • @MrYoucandoityourself
      @MrYoucandoityourself  5 лет назад

      Hi Richard,for subfloor leveling you have to prime, but for glue down installation you dont need it, because most of brands of flooring glue stick to subfloor very well.Thanks!

      If you are living in Vancouver Canada, I can install floor for you, no problem. Floating sister it’s very simple like laminate installation. Floor freely moving because not nailed and not glued to the subfloor.

    This is the same method I use to install solid wood pine flooring. Always measure a 1/2" back from the edge of wood and pop a glue line that way glue does not go past the wood edge and get in the way for next run, so if you need to stop for the day . There will be no glue that would have to be cleaned up .

      Hi, I glued vinyl flooring two weeks ago. Floor should be overlap without on the short side. Otherwise you and your floor will be with glue from the had to the legs. I cut the short side of the lock each piece for smooth installing. I hope to publish video about it on the end of this week. Thanks

    Thanks for the video. Some sites recommend no traffic on the floor for 24 hours to allow glue to set, but I notice you are working from a section that is already installed. Is it ok to be working from a section that was only installed a few minutes ago, or are you only going in that direction for the purpose of the video. Thanks again.

    • @MrYoucandoityourself
      @MrYoucandoityourself  5 лет назад

      Hi Jason, Good question. Usually, flooring glue settles approximately in two hours. For safety reason, I taped the floor with masking tape and can work right away over the just installed part of the floor. Thanks for watching and commenting!

      Hi, this is tongue and groove. Lock sister possible to glue it, I did it few times. Only one trick- cut off the lock from the front and you can install it easy like tongue and groove. Just take more time. Don’t forget taped floor together. Thanks

    Can you show how to make your own transitions? I have a bamboo floor I'm going to glue down, but the price they wanted for the transitions was astronomical! I want to just take my own boards and create my own.

    • @MrYoucandoityourself

      What kind of you are interested? Overlapping or reducer?

    • @mikejonce1
      @mikejonce1 5 лет назад +1

      @@MrYoucandoityourself I think that's considered overlapping. I think I need a "T" section type, because there isn't too much of a difference in height between the two floors. I think that's considered "overlapping" right? I have extra boards. I should be able to make my own. It would be AWESOME if you could make a video showing that! By the way, thank you so much for your video's! They give me confidence to try to do this kind of stuff on my own!

    Ugh! I can't believe I was trying to do this without a chalk line. When you have a messy edge, you can never stop without having a lot of clean up when you return. Off to go replace my missing chalk line.

    • @MrYoucandoityourself
      @MrYoucandoityourself  6 лет назад

      I install it instantly because the glue drys very fast. If you never done it before I don't recommend using this type of floor installation in your house yourself. It is very difficult job.

    But if its over concrete and you have moisture issues, you need to make make sure you dont have breaks in the glue. Every spread you did there has a gap and can make moisture come up through.
