2013 Optima Hybrid. Very good directions. Bought the Polk speakers. I installed the bass blockers because when testing, there was too much bass distortion with speaker. I did not have a soldering gun, but extra speaker wire, so I wired it in. It worked great. Also, a long screwdriver and hammer popped those tabs much easier than a pair of pliers.
I'm glad I could help yeah I figured a screwdriver and hammer would help just didn't have one handy and I also haven't installed the bass blockers ye but I need to do that soon I did notice some distortion as well I'm glad you enjoyed it , and hoped you watched all 3 videos .
+Ed Heff I recently installed the bass blockers or resistors and Man it made a difference It got to where they were popping so I had to put them on I just started a thread on optima forums that you should check out I have started purchasing my equipment to replace an upgrade the audio system in my car and I will be making videos of the whole process subscribe and check it out
Nice Video! I just finished my 2013 SX Optima. I kept the Stock Radio and replaced all the 6.5" door speakers and added 2 aftermarket amplifers. One for the 2-12" Subwoofers and the second amp for all the door speakers. Then I used the stock JBL amplifer to run just the dash speakers. 3 amps total. Had to convert part of the stock JBL amp's signal for the aftermarket amps using 2- LC2i Audio Control Line Out Converters. Took a while but it sounds Awesome! Plus I get to keep all the steering wheel controls and the Climate Controls.
Thanks !! I also installed two amps after I replaced my dash speakers ! I also used an lc2i and added and an mb quart 4 channel amp for the door speakers and one 300 mb quart for a 12" focal I installed sounded good !! I don't have the K5 anymore sadly had to let it go for a GMC Sierra which I've been wanting for a while so now it's time to hook it up with some sounds which I will also be posting Watch the video here ! ruclips.net/video/h3Nt7_Mj51c/видео.html
no, i didn't use bass blockers (resistors), and yes there is distortion but mainly because believe or not at only 30 watts they are still under powered. I have had to turn the bass down some in order for them not to pop.I plan on using them but i don't have a solder gun. I do plan on installing them soon because i am planning on upgrading all the speakers and installing on amp so i will have to.
the speaker itself with the tweeter is 3.5 in, if your asking about the just size of the tweeter dome, i couldn't tell ya but i'm sure it's in the 1" range.
I just recently installed a a real serious sub and amp for bass. Obv the doors can't keep up. I was told (as a temporary quick fix/help) to attach bass blockers to the door speakers thus allowing the stock system to push more power to the highs so they can keep up with the sub for now. Any advice? As far as long run, what do u recommend? Thx
it would be a temp fix for sure. but this wouldn't necessarily push more power to the mids and highs. what it actually does is it keep them from playing lower frequencies. ones the sub is meant to play. so this would allow you turn the bass up without disturbing your smaller speakers too much. if you want more power i'd incorporate a 4 channel for your mids and highs and set your high pass filter so that your sub play the lowes. and change out all your door speakers. i'd check out the component series from JBL. hopes this helps. thanks for watching and leave a like..
Even though the tweeters are in the dash, and not in the door, you would still get the component speakers? Wouldn't it be better to get co-axial at that point since you already have a new set of tweeters and there is no factory location for the component set in the door? Or does you Kia have dash and door tweeters? I wanted the component speakers but I figured my tweeters were in the dash and I would have to buy co-axial for the door and do the tweeters like you just did. For the bass blocker, did you just use the one from the original tweeters on the new ones?
nappydrew yes they did and yes it would work you’ll just have to find one to fit between the window and the speaker good luck hope this helps please leave a like and consider subscribing
that's personal preference. go with a brand you know of and trust. you can go with any speaker really and i could list a pile of them. just one you know would fit your needs. just the specs of your current setup and make sure the speaker you choose matches
i didn't use the bass blockers and i did notice some distortion but i think that was more from the low powered factory head unit rather than not using the bass blockers. i recommend using them to keep any low freq's from going to them, hope this helps.
Provocateur I don’t see why they wouldn’t, if you’re only changing out the dash speakers. Everything should be wired the same way. The only difference I’d see is the additional amp and better speakers compared to factory. Everything should run from stock stereo to amp then to speakers with everything crossed over I’m between. I would do a little research on how many watts the factory amp puts out so you can match the speakers. And I would definitely use bass blockers if your speakers come with some. I hope this helps . Infinity system has 4 wires going to the dash speakers. 2 go to the mid and 2 go to the tweeter that sits inside the mid. They're a bit trickier to replace, due to the wiring. Most aftermarket component speakers only have 2 spade connectors, so you have to either go OEM, or just connect the mid-range wires to the spades, and let the aftermarket tweeters filter the bass out with a built in bass blocker (most aftermarket speakers have those built-in)
not 100% sure but with a premium sound system the speakers are all connected to crossovers, so in this case your speakers have 4 wires bc the crossovers are separating you highs from your mids, two ( + - ) going to your tweeters and 2 ( + - ) going to your mids. have you bought the polk audio speakers?

Yes, the distortion may not be as noticeable mounted in the dash, but when testing them outside it was very noticeable

What do I do if I have no slack in the speaker wire to remove the old speaker and install the new one?
@@Brian-dj3ru possibly add some quick connects with a short wire to the speaker then add the to the factory wiring
infinity system the dash speakers are 3 ohm and wired parallel with the front doors
hell yeah bro 💪
