    Translation....Arguably one of the largest and heaviest findlings ever loaded and transported left our quarry in May. It is an extraordinary diorite findling with a uniformly rounded surface and solid, undamaged core. The age of this unique specimen is about 300 million years old

    The geology here is fascinating. There are obviously dozens of these erratic boulders in the area. This is one of the biggest found so far. Its volume is approximately 45 cubic meters and it weighs about 110 tonnes. Other boulders have been split for removal. There is no indication of the site location- I'd guess somewhere in France or Swiss Jura, but if anyone knows for sure please post here.
    All of the boulders were well rounded and seem to be spread throughout a fine grained calcareous mud called loess. Loess forms a very fertile soil.
    This entire formation was deposited as a slurry that spread below sea level during the Pleistocene Ice Age, probably as a result of uplift of the Alps. The rounding was a result of rolling of much larger angular fine grained granite boulders within the slurry.

    • @portolan4454
      @portolan4454 6 лет назад

      This is the official explanation in English
      www.vgb.de/findlinge
      "Our boulders originated from the 300 million year old granite massif of the Bavarian Forest. Water penetrated into the near-surface strata of this massive rock many millions of years ago. As a result, the topmost blocks of rock have decomposed over the corners and edges over millions of years. These so-called Wollsack weathering formed these rock shapes with rounded surfaces and massive granite cores. The transport through glaciers did not matter, which is why it is not boulders, but so-called Härtlinge. Due to this special type of formation our "boulders" do not have completely smooth, but slightly rough and thus grippy surfaces. You will find unique pieces from the 20 kg foundling to the 40 to stone."
      With greatest respect, I disagree. This is not primary weathering of granite but a secondary deposit of late Cenozoic age that contains the old granite boulders of Carboniferous age. The location is confirmed above to be in Bavarian Forest, Germany.

    For any English speakers I will do my best to translate the situation. Here you can see in Younoeng National River Park, they had found the body of Mao Zedong perfectly preserved in what is believed to have been his guards hasty attempts to bury and hide the body while simultaneously retreating from the Empires advancing attack. They had covered his casket entirely in feces in order to throw off the trade federation hunting unit that was assigned to hunting them. Only reason I know all this wws because I had read about it in high school and faintly remember. Very different find on their congrats
