Im glad you have Dark Hollow on the list! I love love love this level because its atmosphere is so wonderful! I was even a bit sad when I finished it so early in the game, because I never had to go there again.
I am so happy of where you ranked Tree Tops, it is definitely my favorite level in the whole trilogy, mostly because I love speedy paths and long jumps
I LOVE how 9/10 of those choices contained what are LITERALLY my favorite music tracks from Spyro 1, and probably some of my favorite video game music tracks to date. Lofty Castle forever
My top ten would be 10. Gnasty's loot 9. Wizard Peak 8. Ice Cavern 7. Haunted Towers 6. Twilight Harbour 5. High Caves 4. Gnorc Cove 3. Dark Passage 2. Lofty Castle 1. Tree Tops
town square is one of my favs too because it was the first level that was in the full game but not my demo disc that i had. once i got the actual game and i saw town square i was liek YUPPPPPP
I loved chasing the thieves in the Tree Tops. I forgot the name, but I my favorite level is the one where the enemies had guns because of how difficult it was when I first played it.
What I used to do for metal head was make him destroy his own charging poles with the enemies he throws at you, sometimes you can get one or two, maybe even three at a time if you stand right. He will throw them in your direction, standing behind a pole and moving out of the way in time I find very fun.
My favorite bit about the Town Square level is that you can charge the bulls and they end up getting their horns stuck in the ground. Once that happens, the enemy is left trapped and flailing to get free now and then. Given you get their gem, they're technically defeated, but you can still kill them a second time by flaming the bulls to make them disappear at last. Otherwise, they're left with their horns jammed in the ground and grunting, as they try to get free, instead of disappearing. LMAO
I feel exactly the same about Tree Tops. I hated that level when I first tried it but once I got the hang of it, nailing the supercharges on that level felt so satisfying. Luckily for me, though I had an issue of PlayStation Underground that showed me tips and tricks for the game, and one of them was how to get to that one platform that's just out of reach. You know which one I'm talking about, the hardest platform to get to in perhaps the entire game X3
metalhead is definitely my favorite boss level in the first game tbh. never liked tree tops personally but i can see why you would, and there are parts that i do like. it just takes for fuckin ever for me to complete it.
It was fun to hear your favorites and the game clips went nicely with what you were saying. But I personally didn't like the little hints about "you'll need to get gems from behind this building" and stuff like that. The whole game is based on exploration and discovering new areas so, for anyone who might be getting into the series for the first time with the remakes, that ruins the fun of the surprises. And for people who already love the games, we know where the gems are, so it's a bit redundant.
Tree tops is my favorite too, my second favorite would be Haunted Towers I really like it's design, level revolve around finiding these fairies that gives you temporary boost to beat these haunted armores, the use of supercharge inside the castle and the secret area that lead to a fairy that gives you a permanent superflame as long as you are in the level, feel like a really satisfy reward to explore the level I love it. Otherwise my top 10 would be : 1-Tree Tops 2-Haunted Towers 3-Lofty Castle 4-High Caves 5-Twilight Harbor 6-Dry Canyon 7-Wizard Peak 8-Metalhead 9-Alpin Ridge 10-Stone Hill
very few people would consider Tree Tops so highly... I mean, once I got a hang of the Super Charge, it really isn't all that bad. But it's always one of those levels I'm holding my breath. Same with some of the boss levels as well. Metalhead is the easiest by far-- i've gotten into the habit of having him destroy the poles by throwing enemies and beams at them so I don't have to do anything but get in between. It's so much fun.
I agree with tree tops but I was also hoping for Haunted Towers, I played this game all the time as a kid when at my dad's but for years I never figured out how to get to the upper area with the permanent flame upgrade until you leave the level, I could hear the dragon statue which taunted me and when I'd see the green platform you had to get to I always thought it was the first one with the metal box that you have to use to even get there
Tbh, a lot about Spyro the Dragon was not hard - but that doesn't mean it wasn't fun. It's a shame that is a hard concept for most devs of this era to grasp.
Let's play the leveled drinking game! Take a shot every time he says level! In all seriousness though, the list is quite accurate toward my own, so I'll say that it's pretty good.
I don't have a top 10 for Spyro 1: But my favortie levels for each worlds goes as follows Artisans - Dark Hollow Peace Keepers - Ice Cavern Magic Crafters - High Caves Beast Makers - Terrance Village Dream Weavers - Dark Passage Gnorc's World - Twilight Harbor
The metalback spiders were awsome can you do a list of your favourite enemies from the spryo series? I always liked how spyro had strange creative enemies that you wouldn't see anywhere else these enemies were not based on foklore and i like that fact
No Haunted Towers?!! (gasp) My top 10 in no order: -Gnorc Cove -Dark Passage -Lofty Castle -Haunted Towers -Tree Tops -Wizards Peak -Alpine Ridge -Cliff Town -Ice Cavern -Dark Hollow
nice list!!!! dark passage seems to have the best "flow" to it. a good player can go through in just one simple path while getting everything. but those dumb turtles......ive learned to jump then charge them but then they bite instead!!!!
Overall, these are some pretty good picks. The Artisans levels aren't anywhere near my top 10 because of how easy they are, though. 10. Metalhead 09. High Caves 08. Ice Cavern 07. Jacques 06. Misty Bog 05. Wizard Peak 04. Haunted Towers 03. Lofty Castle 02. Dark Passage 01. Tree Tops Alpine Ridge just missed my top 10 (at #11).
Conor Jesus McGregor the plants used to terrify me when I was little I always had to get someone else to do that level for me while I looked away. One minute you're looking at them and the next minute you've turned around and they be eating you.
1) tree tops 2) haunted towers 3) dark passage 4) wizard peak 5) ice cavern 6) terrace village 7) metal head 8) high caves 9) dark hollow 10) lofty castle
1) tree tops 2) haunted towers 3) wizard peak 4) cliff town 4) terrace village 5) dark passage 6) jacques 7) blow hard 8) misty bog 9) high caves 10) ice cavern
My top10 is a little different 10. Gnorc Cove 9. Twilight Harbor 8. Haunted Towers 7. Dark Hollow 6. Doctor Shemp 5. High Caves 4. Tree Tops 3. Cliff Town 2. Lofty Castle 1. Metalhead Also a honorable mention to Toasty and Town Square
Out of all the levels, one that stands out for me is Dr. Shemp. Why? The freaking charging tribal guys. XD Watch as they get their butt slapped by big women as they charge at you and miss, but keep going off the cliff behind you.
My top 10: 10. Doctor shemp 9. Beast makers home 8. Terrace village 7. Ice cavern 6. Stone hill 5. Gnorc cove 4. Peacekeeper home 3. Cliff town 2. Dark Hollow 1. Misty bog
My top 10 1. Lofty Castle 2. Alpine Ridge 3. Dark Hollow 4. Cliff Town 5. Misty Bog 6. Jacques 7. Stone Hill 8. Haunted Towers 9. Dry Canyon 10. Wizard Peak
My top 10 for spyro 1 are the following 10. Dark Passage 9. Wizard Peak 8. Toasty 7. Ice Cavern 6. Tree Tops 5. High Caves 4. Dry Canyon 3. Town Square 2. Lofty Castle 1. Dark Hollow
My favourites would be 1. Lofty Castle 2. Dark Passage 3. Haunted Towers 4. Stone Hill 5. Dark Hollow 6. Ice Cavern 7. Metalhead 8. Alpine Ridge 9. Cliff Town 10. Tree Tops
I remember beating this game 120% as a young kid. Then playing it again a couple years ago. Tree tops was definitely the most memorable level as with that one level in Dream Catchers (or is it Weavers?) Hub world where you get the super flame breath to kill the armor pieces that come back to life. Forget the name of the level but i remember being a young kid and having so much trouble finding the dragon where you have to supercharge around the level in order to get it. (And at the top of the supercharge you can see the bottom part of the dragon through the ceiling lol.) I remember being so excited when i finally figured that out so many years ago.
my personal top 10 is: 10 Wizard peak 9 Haunted towers 8 Wild flight 7 Icy flight 6 Twilight harbor 5 Gnasty's Loot 4 Beast Makers home 3 Tree Tops 2 Metalhead 1 Misty Bog You can tell that I love beast makers world
Uggghhh I hated High Caves and Metalhead xD Not sure why I hated High Cabes so much, but I hated Metalhead because it took me forever to find the gems to get 100%. My favorite levels were Dark Pasage and Lofty Castle.
The amount of times "level" was said, most of the time unnecessarily was quite painful. As well as the amount of times "fun" "interesting" and "memorable" was said in many different was excruciating.
Tree tops was the hell of my childhood
RedtornadoTv ikr xd
Same, that Green thief scarred me as a kid
yeah same was hard to beat haha
tree tops is to spyro what pizza delivery is to spongebob
My own personal favorite is stone hill. There's a very serene, tranquil vibe to the level that makes it fun to run around in.
I love the music in Dark Hollow
Im glad you have Dark Hollow on the list! I love love love this level because its atmosphere is so wonderful! I was even a bit sad when I finished it so early in the game, because I never had to go there again.
Can't wait how Toasty will look in the Remake!
Toasty, Misty Bog, Dark Passage and Gnasty's Loot are my favorite.
He looks very cool
Cool, but the soundtrack its bad, in my opinion, i prefer the original one.
I am so happy of where you ranked Tree Tops, it is definitely my favorite level in the whole trilogy, mostly because I love speedy paths and long jumps
Riley Jean not only that it has AMAZING level design. I mean there's 3 ways to complete the level
I LOVE how 9/10 of those choices contained what are LITERALLY my favorite music tracks from Spyro 1, and probably some of my favorite video game music tracks to date. Lofty Castle forever
My top ten would be
10. Gnasty's loot

2. Lofty Castle
1. Tree Tops
town square is one of my favs too because it was the first level that was in the full game but not my demo disc that i had. once i got the actual game and i saw town square i was liek YUPPPPPP
I personally don’t like High Caves. Mainly because of the spiders. I hate those things and they are one of my worst fears.
Travis the Dragon spiders? Those are beetles.
I hated them too though
I loved chasing the thieves in the Tree Tops. I forgot the name, but I my favorite level is the one where the enemies had guns because of how difficult it was when I first played it.
Twilight harbor! it's one of my fovourites!
I also loved the levels in Gnasty's world. Very industrial themed, and technological. Plus... enemies had machine guns. :) haha, so cool!
What I used to do for metal head was make him destroy his own charging poles with the enemies he throws at you, sometimes you can get one or two, maybe even three at a time if you stand right. He will throw them in your direction, standing behind a pole and moving out of the way in time I find very fun.
Love that you have Lofty Castle at #2! It's my favorite Spyro level of all time!
I appreciate you bringing up colors, since a lot of color theory was used in the making of the game.
The level design in the original game is really impeccable.
This video has me saying "oh my GOD i LOVE this one!"
metalhead is definitely my favorite boss level in the first game tbh. never liked tree tops personally but i can see why you would, and there are parts that i do like. it just takes for fuckin ever for me to complete it.
Beast makers and Dream weavers levels were by far my favorite. Especially metal head, misty bog, Dark Passage, and Haunted Towers.
It was fun to hear your favorites and the game clips went nicely with what you were saying. 3-Lofty Castle
4-High Caves
5-Twilight Harbor
6-Dry Canyon
7-Wizard Peak
8-Metalhead
9-Alpin Ridge
10-Stone Hill
my favorite level is dark passage.
i like this whole game..its just awesome , every single level of it
1. Dr. Shemp, 2. Tree Tops, 3. Ice Cavern
For High Caves, most of the caves can be reached by flying and not needing to supercharge.
Nice List! I would have put Lofty Castle at the top though, simply for that level theme-it's so damn good!
Nice list :D
I was beginning to worry that I wouldn't see tree tops in the list, best level ever IMO.
very few people would consider Tree Tops so highly... I mean, once I got a hang of the Super Charge, it really isn't all that bad. But it's always one of those levels I'm holding my breath. I really enjoyed the Ice Caverns, when I was a kid.

HE IS COMING BACK BABY
Let's play the leveled drinking game! Take a shot every time he says level!

I love the music of metalhead
Wizard peak
While metal head was a good boss... my favorite from this game was the Shepard boss.
I liked Haunted Castles
Haunted Towers*
Thumbs up for using music from Klonoa 2 in the intro.
You don't often see that game referenced, let alone hear music from it being used.
why are you explaining the hidden parts to the levels? its a top 10 list, not a walkthrough
lofty castle is beast
"Quite."
No levels from gnorc genxus on the list (oh noes)
Omg you put tree tops as number 1. I hate this level due to the stupid super charge to that dragon.
okay you get a subscribe for treetops
oh boy if you speedrun you list would be different.
The amount of times "level" was said, most of the time unnecessarily was quite painful. As well as the amount of times "fun" "interesting" and "memorable" was said in many different was excruciating.
Victoria Bell May have been used a bittt more than necessary
Victoria Bell Agreed. Every LEVEL was FUN, INTERESTING and MEMORABLE. Every time he says level, it just sounds like a soundbite.
Seems like the more recent videos have gotten better about vocabulary and avoiding repetition
Don't watch the fuckin video then
Ooh
i hate lofty castle lmao
Tree Tops is for me the worst
Worst as in worst design, or as in you not being able to play it? There is a huge difference there
didn't like Alpine Ridge
I hate ice levels
I KNOW YOU NEVER BEAT TREE TOPS WITHOUT LOOKING UP HOW TO DO IT. GTFOH.
I hate number 1.
