    The Chigorin is an interesting and aggressive way to meet the Queen's gambit. It will give black good chances to play for a win, while avoiding dull and drawish positions.

      Exactly! Yep, it is a good way to mix things up and potentially give the d4 player very non-d4 positions. Couldn't agree more with your comment.

      Glad you enjoyed it! More on the way, are there any other chess openings you'd want to see covered on the channel?

    Another great video. I never dreamed the Chigorin had so many possibilities.

      Glad you enjoyed it Dennis! Ya it's definetely offbeat but has some dangerous lines and variations if the d4 opening player isn't careful!

    At first, I thought I saw Chidori but it's actually Chigorin. Nice to see your video Chess Giant.

    It looks like a cool opening. My problem starts when oponent plays the london. Don't get me wrong I'm fine with positional games and I usually don't have any trouble to win against london system, it's just that the positions that arise from this opening just seem to be completely stripped off of all sorts of tactics and that's when I'm starting to get bored.
    Imma stay with old benoni/dutch defense (which you fortunately also made a video on; My Hero) or even englund gambit since they all force my prep from move 1 and tend to lead to more tactical and methodical rather than positional gameplay.

      Hey Michal! Ya I myself also side with the Old Benoni/Dutch Defense type systems over the Chigorin so I totally understand what you are saying. Sounds like we have a similar playing style. Some like the Chigorin though (based on their style of play) which is why I decided to make this.

      You can also just take the pawn and then transpose to a queen accepted game its not bad or the tartakower variation…

    I like to play 1. d4 (or anything else) Nc6, so the Chigorin would be an interesting option If white does 2. c4. Usually I'm going for a Knights tango but I like this option just in case.

    • @TheChessGiant
      @TheChessGiant  2 года назад +1

      True that Danny! Ya both the Black Knight's Tango and Chigorin Defense work well together as solid options, which I hadn't really thought about until you mentioned this!
