Russian goals in Ukraine are 'unchanged', says Putin

- Vladimir Putin held his first annual press conference since the start of the war in Ukraine. The Russian president said the goals of Russia's 'military special operation' in neighbouring Ukraine were the 'denazification', 'demilitarisation' and 'neutral status' of the country. 'There will be peace when we achieve our goals', he said.
Russian citizens were expected to phone in with questions for the president along with those asked by journalists. Putin's last such news conference was in 2021 and he has limited interaction with the foreign media since Russia invaded Ukraine.

For those who still do not understand the goals of the Special military operation, I will try to explain. 1) Demilitarization - weaken the military potential of Ukraine, make sure that it does not pose a threat to Russia in the future. 2) Denazification - to ensure that Ukrainian domestic and foreign policy is not directed against the Russian-speaking population, as well as Russian culture. 3) Neutral status - Ukraine should not be part of any military or political alliance directed against Russia.
I'll outline the real goals of the Special Military Operation. 1) Demilitirization- To remove the ability of Ukraine to defend itself from future Russian attacks. 2) Denazification - To erase Ukrainian culture and language.
3) Neutral status- To allow Russia to control Ukraine's foreign policy and deny Ukrainians their right to self determination and decide their own future.
Russia is the one posing the military threat. It aims to annex large areas of someone else's country for it's own ends. This has been proven by its actions.
Russia does not get to dictate what other sovereign nations in the area choose to do.
Regardless of the stated 'goals', which bear little relation to reality, the result of this war of choice will be the long term weakening of Russia economically, the strengthening and expansion of the European Union and NATO. The short term effects are suffering and bloodshed on a vast scale. The death of innocent people and of a huge number of Russian soldiers do not seem to trouble Putin's conscience in the slightest. I do not regard that as a compliment.
A country does not have the right to just “demilitarize” a neighboring country like that, if said country has never done anything to you

Well, one year before they took Bakmut at the cost of 100k KIA. This year they took Mariinka at the cost of 39k KIA. So lets make the math: 1 (one) year for village at medium cost of 70k KIA.
One village per year at this cost is extremelly cost effective for Ukraine. But unfortunatelly there are people that still thinks Russia is winning.
