Tintin is around 20 years old in this story. He was just a kid in the earliest stories but when this takes place he's an educated journalist with a job and all.
Well he certainly doesn't look 20. He looks younger than he did in Secret of the Unicorn. I don't know alot about the series, but considering Thomson and Thompson doesn't know Tintin indicates this is one of the earlier stories.
Didn’t herge straight up tell people he didn’t know how old tintin was? Just gave an age range of like, mid teens to 19. My headcanon is that he’s a cryptid that emerged from the misty London fog as an immortal ageless reporter, and no one’s the wiser.
I am a vent technician, and funny enough, the vents in the game are pretty accurate. Those areas that appear to be superfluous are for accumulating the excess hot air (or cold in some cases) while air in motion continues to flow thru the system.
My girlfriend said my mind pulp addiction is destroying our relationship so I’m watching this in the attic. It’s so cold up here and I’m so hungry….. but it’s all worth it.
I mean, in the end, it was revealed that the flor fina cigars have opium hidden inside them to be smuggled across the world so yeah, he did have something stronger to smoke
This honestly looks pretty good to me, it meets the 3D film Tin Tin and the original Herge comic designs and colour palettes in the middle quite well! That having been said, I understand why it might look a little off to some people. I think the story and gameplay will be fun for the intended audience of younger people/kids. Honestly, not a bad showing! :)
@TroboTicTac Nope it's genuinely really cool, as a fan who owns half the comics and has watched the show and movie ateast 40 or more times and Even owns the art book, I love this game its so full of charm
I really love the Cigars of the Pharaoh comic book, but really don't understand what they were thinking in adapting this one as a video game. There are so much better suited video game Tintin stories, like Tintin in Tibet, Shooting Star and the two Moon stories.
If you loved Cigars of the Pharaoh you should have a great time with this, it was a great fun nostalgia trip for me as I hadn't read it for years! Yes it's full of bugs and the gameplay is simple (I always loved adventure games too though so that's fine) but it has a lot of charm and the music is so great, I didn't expect them to bring the iconic cartoon theme back it gave me goosebumps!

I gotta say, the story seems like they've definitely read Tintin before. I haven't re-read Cigars of the Pharaoh yet, but Dupont and Dupond DO change up their wording like "Is this it?" "To be precise: This is it!" in other comics, and right afterwards, the scene plays the Tintin animated series' theme song.

The Tintin game on ps3 you guys played is so nostalgic for, I played it threw many many times from around 2012-2016 and I have never played it ever since. but I still have it and your video on it has made me want to check it out again.
They'd put organs in the canopic jars because if they left them in the mummy would rot. They kept the organs they thought were important, but interestingly, they'd extract the brain through the nose and usually toss that bit. But we are talking about a tradition that lasted several thousand years
I think the only criticism I have for this game is it's use of HORRIBLE ABOMINATIONS that they call characters, the overuse of QTEs, and some weird side character dialogue writing. It's surprisingly accurate to the comics if only because of the newspaper cutscene transitions to fill in the story gaps. The environment is also very well done. I still somehow prefer the ps3 and animated spielberg movie though
No joke. 9 seconds in, as soon as he mentioned the Jumanji game, my phone started to buffer. I'm gonna let that serve as an indication of the quality of that game.
To anyone who wants to play the new Tintin game, the publishers forced the developers to rush the game out before it was ready. I'm not gonna lie the animation for The Adventures of Tintin video game was way better(with respect to the faces) and was considerably more fun. I remember playing it as a kid and I know that this game would never be able to top it.
I feel like the developers were trying to make the graphics accurate to the art style of the original comics while also making them hyper-realistic for the sake of mainstream appeal, leading to these uncanny stylized character designs
Those books where a big part of my childhood, I had a ton at home and would go to the library with my dad every Sunday to read one I didn’t have at home. "Tintin: Bollocks of the Pharaoh". Tintin briefly turns into Florida Man, everyone is an alien, and the old men run around in tombs without pants. If that's not a 10/10 experience, I don't know what is.
There was a Tin Tin game from more than a decade ago that came out on iOS and possibly more. It was pretty impressive like most single player console-quality phone games of that era.
I'm really surprised at how close this sticks to the original book, even with the parts that don't make sense--like Tintin and the professor excavating the ruin by hand or Tintin's ambiguous age. Also, I feel like if they were going to make a Tintin game, it would have to be a 2D point-and-click/dialogue simulator, something in the vein of Ace Attorney. The art-style and the over-the-top characters just don't fit with the 3D world or the game play.
The story of the actual show being stolen for MXC is kinda fucked up, what they did; I had no idea about any of it until I was watching some podcast that talked about it and I was like omg, I used to love MXC
I find it mindboggling why they went for this bland 3d look, and not a stylized look like in the old comics: with outlines, going full on for that classic Tintin "ligne claire" Hergé did. It's not like the 3d movie is new, it's over a decade old and I don't even think it was a huge success.
