Am I the only one that thinks Chance's beatboxing a jaws harp throughout is just as impressive as Adam's occasional harmonica? I've seen Pakistani reactors give Chance his due, but Western reactors rarely seem to notice it.

That was Adam Chance on the second "To help him now." and also after Tim on "While he is sleeping in his grave." Chance also has an impresive range. He opens "Helplessly Hoping" singing tenor and is joined by Rob Lundquist in perfect unison. And "Mayday" is opened by Tim Foust singing tenor. Who's carryin bass while Tim is singing? Near the end of "Mayday" you'll hear Chance going low again. These men are ALL amazing!!

“Man of Constant Sorrow” is, indeed, a very old song originally called “The Goodbye (or the farewell) song. Listen for the one reference to the northern railroad. That line gives all the meaning to the song, …. A slave bidding farewell to all he loves and knows, preparing to run for freedom.
Kind of gives the song a different feel, doesn’t it.

This song is older than "o brother where art thou". This is a folk song published in 1913 and released again in 1927. There are many many versions of this great song. Love listening to many genres and just started to listen and research folk/blue grass music.

As the post says, this is a old folk song. What a lot of Reaction people do not know is that this song was sung on Television in the 60's on the Andy Griffith Show. The group playing are the Dillards, playing as the Darling family.

I found these guys last year. This was the first song I ever heard from them & I was instantly hooked & became a homefry. The talent of these 5 men is insane. Together they are a perfect fit & complement each other so well. There bass singer Tim Foust is the best in the business & Adam Rupp their beatboxer extraordinaire can make any sounds & is in a class by himself. I am so glad you heard the bass drop even lower after Tim's solo. So many reactors miss that.

Rob might have looked miserable because they were filming in the rain. It used to be Ring of Fire that was kind of reactors intro to Home Free. Man of Constant Sorrow has since become the introduction for Home Free. Adam Rupp is known as the Freak Of Nature for a reason. Look for videos of Adam Rupp's Drum Solo to get a feel for what he can do. Look for newer videos because he is constantly evolving his craft. He is incredible!

Folks who've attended their live concerts say that they use a looping machine for this song. Because even Adam can't do fake drums and fake harmonica at the same time. He'll start the drums going, then go on to something else. Chance is doing the diggeri-doo, juice harp, whatever you want to call it.
Yes, check one of Adam's live concert "drum solos."
Yes, Austin is fantastic. Some folks really love his rendition of unchained Melody, on his solo YT channel. Me, not so much. After Bobby Hatfield (which you're reacted to), I just don't think anyone else can compare. However, Austin's cover of When A Man Loves A Woman, which is basically a solo even though it's on the Home Free channel, is excellent. Right up there with the Percy Sledge original, or with Michael Bolton.

The man on the left back is Adam Chance(aka Chance) the baritone and newest member. The one on the right back is Adam Rupp one of the two brothers that started the group. Chris Rupp helped select Chance for his replacement as he wanted to start his solo career. Second row left is Ron Lundquist the tenor. Center right is Tim Foust bass extraordinaire. Btw he sings from high tenor to deep bass. The high tenor in center front is Austin brown. Love them all. I can't get enough.

This is so good. Adam Rupp is amazing and has won the beatboxing championship twice. You should watch Adam Rupp Drum Solo (2015). He’s amazing and does drums and other noises with his mouth…I don’t know how he breathes. If you want to hear Tim go really low try Brothers in Arms…goodness it’s good and Adam is so dang good on their newest release Mary Did You Know and their harmonies are incredible. Btw, this song was made famous in the movie (which is great, I agree) but it’s not the original. It’s over 100 years old. Love this version and your reaction! Also Chance (last guy in the video) was doing the mouth harp sound. They can all beatbox to a degree.

This one is about as 'bassiest' as he can get. Adam Chance (the other Adam, not the beatboxer), also shines in this one. And, not to be outdone, the other three, Austin, Rob and Adam, really are outstanding with backing vocals. From a message standpoint, what can be more moving than a patriotic song honoring our veterans who sacrifice their lives for us!! HOME of the FREE, because of the brave!! "Man of Constant Sorrow" is old timey Blue Grass. It was written in 1913 & has many people cover it in different genres. That sound at the end that you thought was mimicking cicadas, was mimicking the Mouth Harp, which is a typical Blue Grass instrument.
If you'd like to explore a great Blue Grass band, I recommend Steeldrivers. Their lead singer was Chris Stapleton, who has since gone solo. Chris Stapleton is quite the sensation. I promise you if you react to him, people will be drawn to your channel.

This is not really anything to smile about, being a song about loss and despair. The great thing about Home Free's approach to songs is that they take each song seriously (their Hallmark style Valentine videos excepted), on its own terms. Remember also that 3 of the guys are from the small town South and unlike the Cohen Brothers do not consider the South "humorous,"
I know that you're obsessed with Tim but is there some reason why you consistently ignore Chance's existence? For my money, his is one of the two best voices in the group. Chance was making the jaw-harp effect at beginning and end. You should check out his solo stuff: his version of Wandering Stranger is very affecting and he does a particularly internal and mysterious Pancho and Lefty. Leads he's had include Yours, Born in the USA and Some Girls Do. Chance has also made an enormous contribution to broadening the band's horizons, bringing things they've never heard to the table.

Hey Rob, wonder if you'd be interested in checking out "John Fogerty & Creedence Clearwater Revival Play "Green River" on the Andy Williams Show" and if you're interested in going back even further "The Animals - The House of the Rising Sun (1964) HQ/Widescreen" is another great group to give a listen. Take Care~
