Phúc mập if you get a chance, stop by Pho Kim Long on Mason Rd. In Katy. The food there is phenomenal and the owner is very kind and generous. Also check out Katy Asian Town. It’s so much nicer and cleaner.
Great to see you're in Houston, welcome! The food you had looks delicious! I went to Vietnam in 2016 and visited Saigon, Long Xuyên and Châu Đốc. Many Vietnamese settled in Houston after the war ended, we had Vietnamese neighbors that arrived around 1975. I remember the Miliam Street area near downtown was where many of the first Vietnamese restaurants were located and having phở and bánh mì at some of the restaurants.
Ah Houston original Viet Town. My dad would drop us off at Crystal Palace to play video games and watch movies while he played bia and hang out at Club Queen Bee. Ate Com tam at Vietnam Kitchen and Banh mi at Banh mi Hoang. Dad would buy groceries at Hoa Binh and we get our haircut at Le Nam inside Que Huong mall. Gentrification has killed the old neighborhood and the only thing left is Mai's restaurant and Holy Rosary church. Even the old Chinatown in Eado is slowly dying. Who would have thought that Katy would have an Asia Town
If you’re ever passing through Halifax, NS, Canada, you have to try the Bun Bo Hue at Pho Maniac. Ive had Vietnamese natives tell me it’s one of the best bowls they’ve ever had, in or out of Vietnam.
So much fun to see you in Houston! That Hu Tieu place is our favorite. The best pho in Houston (we've tried them all , I think) is in the Hong Kong City Mall - Pho Danh. Definitlely going to try the Banh Cuon place this weekend. Thanks for showing off Houston!
Oh thanks for stopping by Houston man. Always love to see people enjoying the food etc cause it is a huge melting pot of cuisines here from all over the world. Don't forget to stop by the iconic Kim Son while you're in that Hong Kong supermarket area! Great Vietnamese AYCE buffet.
Howdy, Phuc Map! If you're still in Bellaire area, for rice I would recommend Com Tam Kieu Giang in HongKong market, Pho 54 in the Kim Son area, Bun Bo Hue Duc Chuong, Banh Cuon Hoa on Beechnut. As for "Happy Wife, Happy Life", that may work in Vietnam or back in the Day but here, now it's better with "No Wife, Happy Life" 😇😇
If you're still in America or whenever you come back, you should try Falls Church in Virginia. There's a whole Vietnamese shopping center called the Eden Center. Very good authentic Vietnamese food.
Orange County California has the largest population of Vietnamese in the U.S. , Garden Grove and Westminster mostly. You should come out this way and check out the food scene. You can find some great regional stuff that you cant find outside of Vietnam. Hanoi central and Ho chi minh style foods. Would be worth while to explore. Even the Vietnam president came a few years ago when he had come to the U.S.
True, but they don’t have a street like bellaire. It’s one street that’s nothing but Vietnamese stores that stretches for miles and miles. Inbetween those stores there’s not one single American, Hispanic, Greek or any other cultural stores inbetween. I’ve been too all Asian markets all over United States and Houston is the only city I know that stretches that long.
Great video and skilfully filmed. Your Vietnamese is impressive! You may be interested in the channel "Big time Bentley" about an American guy from California who lives in Saigon and tries different food. He attends a language school, as he is very keen on communicating with the local people.
Welcome to Houston!! We have an interesting mixture of authentic Vietnamese and fusion. For example you can get all the classics and Dim Sum but you can also find pho pizza and pho french dip sandwich. Hope we see you again soon :D
My father lives in Houston. Hope I can visit soon. Pig feet, pressure-cooked, fall off the bone. To die for. I usually eat that with ba/nh canh. Mmm, bon appetit!

Hong Kong market is dirty, ghetto, stinks and run down like most of Bellaire. I don't suggest that place at all.

Funny to hear Map because Vietnamese we use that nickname to differentiate people. Here in North America, calling someone fat is appropriate.
