I appreciate your knowledge and passion and hope to one day be as knowledgeable as you about a specific history subject. Keep up the great work!

    people think john wilkes booth is near the sidewalk even if they know the foot stone is not his marker they still think he is near the sidewalk he is on the opposite side of the family marker away from the sidewalk thanks for pointing this out there is a book called '' booth '' very different book sort of soap opera style yet very good he was buried here in june 22 of 1869 after being under floor boards and in a horse blanket in a box then on a shelf in a building owned by the army then in a beautiful jeweled dark casket box do to the amount of his deterioration but intact pretty well '' right or wrong god judge me '' is an interesting book so is the book by '' asia booth they had a very close relationship he was known for his teeth interesting too bad no one smiled in pictures back then

    • @200991602
      @200991602 Год назад +2

      Can you imagine a time when no one smiled in photos , it's annoying actually since smiling is a form of communication . I saw a History Channel documentary about Booth , people would be mesmerized by Booth, his dark hair and eyes . He would captivate the audience by his '' stark beauty '' as an article said online. Ladies would hang out around his dressing room and he had many lady friends many just friends. His best friends were women , men not so much .

    Hi, I've just discovered your channel and wanted to thank you.
    I am curious about how easy it would have been for civilian people to travel while the war was being fought. I understand that Booth travelled frequently as an actor. Could he easily move between Confederate and Union States? What kind of border regulation would have been in place, it seems the war was quite fluid in some theatres, which would have made border control difficult?
    Cheers from Canada.

    • @joannehulme2420
      @joannehulme2420 Год назад +3

      Yes, both Edwin and Wilkes were able to travel and cross over and we're not necessarily under the traditional borders. Wilkes was able to take advantage of this and with a small group, smuggled medical supplies into the South.

    • @LincolnConspirators
      @LincolnConspirators  Год назад +2

      Travel was very restricted between the North and the South during the Civil War. Despite JWB claiming to his sister that he was involved in some smuggling activities, there is no proof he travelled into the Confederacy during the war. Supporting this is the fact that he went up to Canada in order to try and make contact with Confederate operatives for support of his abduction plot against Lincoln. I don't believe he traveled into the Confederacy until his escape after the assassination. His only trip to the South after the Civil War began was to New Orleans which was a union occupied city and he had to take a long boat ride in order to get there from the north.

I constantly comment about Asia's foot stone, but all those "experts" on Quora just feel we are lying. Everyone else has a foot stone except little Edwin, so why would Asia not have a foot stone? This is the first time I have really heard any true about this plot. Thanks

      Many Northerners resented Lincoln and felt dragged into a war they didn't want , my family included , we were from Ohio same as General / President Grant. Booth thought of Lincoln as a tyrant , that doesn't mean someone should be killed but Lincoln had many enemies South and North, many resentments on both sides. What Sherman did to Atlanta was a war crime, also Sherman had many Native Americans killed . From my family they were not in favor of Lincoln , they didn't like his policies .
