    Damn you aaron for killing off the series' classiest character. Mrs Landingham was the best.

      I bet it was her cancer diagnosis. The timing seems right. Later on, when Kathryn Joosten (Mrs Landingham) went on to play Karen on Desperate Housewives, that character died of cancer. Miss Joosten died 20 days after the series finale of DH.

      Did Mrs. Landingham died before or after Zoe’s kidnapping? That was Sorkin’s last episode.
      Did she want out of her commitment to TWW twenty episodes in the three seasons that she was “on”?

    That special sadness you get in cars going to a funeral and then that brief melancholic sadness on the way to the grave. People try distract you like the wife does here but its best to just hold their hand and keep quiet. When the mourners want to talk they'll talk.

      @@MearnieToonYes, Abby was mourning Mrs. Landingham, but for Jed, it was much more personal. His relationship with her went back to his school days, and it seems she’d been his primary assistant for decades.

    I loved this episode but the one thing that I always questioned was this.. Unless Jed pulled some strings as POTUS how did she get a funeral in the National Cathedral?? She was just his secretary not a Senator or a Head of state.

    • @JordanBahrPian-UkePlayer
      @JordanBahrPian-UkePlayer 4 года назад +49

      It wasn’t an official state funeral. It was a regular one that happened to take place at the National cathedral, and Bartlet wanted to attend.

      If you live or I believe work?? in the parish you can get married and have a funeral service in St Paul’s Cathedral in London (not buried though!) so it’s likely that the rules are going to be the same anywhere.

      @@AdmiralSarcasm I think that the "harms nobody" part would be true if so many did not feel that it was their religious duty to tell others what they must believe. There are far too many in our country that want to dismiss the freedoms granted by the constitution and make Christianity the only recognized religion. In other words, harm is consistently done in the name of religion and has been for centuries. I think it is understandable why some people bristle at seemingly innocuous cliche.
      That said, your statement did me no harm and I believe it gave you, and others with the same beliefs, comfort. Just know that you are posting in an open forum, so it will do you little good to get into a debate or ask questions like the one you asked if you are not looking for a genuine answer that may be outside of your personal understanding.

      @@cald1421 Because someone determined enough can take out the driver and cause the car to crash; but, more importantly, they can take out the driver and take out the President all in one go. With the right circumstances and one hell of a lot of luck. Bottom line, watch any spy movie, or at least a Bond one. Taking out the driver = car crashes. If Prez is behind driver, Prez might not survive the crash, regardless of how armored the car is at the time. It's a safety issue. For Prez, driver and passenger(s).

      Because in the episode right after Leo’s funeral, Josh goes out to LA to surprise Sam. If he’d seen Sam a few days before, the callback to how Josh originally got Sam to join the Bartlet campaign wouldn’t have worked. They should have had Sam say something to Josh about how he was sorry to have missed Leo’s funeral, maybe saying he was out of the country or something.

      The only thing more asine than the self- righteous sanctimony of some religious folk, is the intellectual snobbery of some atheists. There are plenty of fine intellectual minds all throughout history that have been devout Christians. I put your crap right next to the religious folk telling me that I can't have a moral center because I don't put a Bible at the center of my moral life.
