I look so forward to hearing you two work magically together to increase our faith in the knowledge of God helping his people, who suffer at the hands of their enemies
I love the insights on rest. I have been studying from the conference talk on sequential order and the Lord has a pattern in everything. As we study and learn we can see these patterns and as we apply them, we learn that ‘His ways are not our ways, our thoughts are not His thoughts’. We have more peace and joy when we allow him to prevail in our lives. It’s a process. Many thanks.
Please? Question from last year DC? Please guide me to more written resourc s Re: The 4- parts, the triangle in the Charity equation. 1 Love 2 Respect 3 Compassion How these 3 things comprise CHARITY. I’m a chaplain and want to apply these!! I’ve replayed this episode and you mentioned you’ve studied it over your life… Share with me? Much thanks for considering my request!!!
It’s not that I’ve studied it, rather it’s that I’ve pondered it a great deal. That triangle is my own observation, not something I’ve read somewhere else. The only resource I would give you is the Proclamation itself; Moroni 7; and 1 Corinthians 12 & 13.
I think Moses must have read at some point the prophecies of Joseph that calls him out by name as the deliverer of the Israel. He also had the great vision in Moses 1 at some point after the burning bush and before he went back to Egypt. But, that does not help explain why he was so hesitant to go back to Egypt and fulfill his destiny.
Question: we keep talking about laws that people were supposed to follow (levirite marriage, etc.) and reference things that aren’t outlined or written down until after Moses takes the children of Israel. Were there codified laws before Moses?
Great question! There are many places in the Hebrew Bible where a careful reading will show that later editors amended earlier stories. We have Noah loading up “clean” and “unclean” (Gen. 7.2-8) animals on the ark, where these distinctions are not given until Moses’ day (see Leviticus 11). I have written on this topic, of editing, scribal insertions, anachronisms, and the overall “messiness of scripture.” You can see some of the things I have written here: www.ldsscriptureteachings.org/2017/05/17/the-messiness-of-scripture/ So many of the ideas expressed in the Bible are a blend of human thought and editing, as well as heaven given inspiration. I have referred to this idea in many of our podcasts as “the gold and clay principle.” See: www.ldsscriptureteachings.org/2018/03/10/clay-and-gold-inspiration-and-incarnation/ For a more in-depth technical analysis of some of these ideas, you may enjoy reading the following: James Kugel, How to Read the Bible: A Guide to Scripture, Then and Now, Free Press, 2008.
