After years of keeping tropicals and planted tanks I’ve come full circle back to the humble common goldfish. So underrated when you know how to keep fish properly. Such an enjoyable fish when kept in the right conditions.
I would love to have space to put a tank big enough for goldfish. They're cute and derpy and I love watching them.
A heavily planted snail tank is great to stare into if you need to relax (I get anxiety). Super calming, for me. Mystery snails are the best as they still have some movement but are slow and peaceful. Ramshorns seem to sit still a lot. But are cool if you want to learn about how to feed your tank properly. Too much food, too many snails. Not enough food, no snails. I like to see a few baby snails every month or so.
The Boesemani rainbowfish is 100% my soul mate fish. Every time I don't have a tank with them in it, I always want them again
Mystery snails are the clowns of the invertebrates. I love watching them crawl up the tank then parachute down.
Yes!
I call it parasnailing.
My friend told me that, "Bettas are water cats. Electric blue acaras are water puppies." Never have I heard such a true statement. LOL!
Also wanted to add... kuhli loaches are crackheads. They're perfect if you want a high energy oddball fish (as long as you provide them with the right conditions).
Blood parrots are mine. Their curiosity and interesting social behavior is something I always look forward to seeing
Nice choice!
My dwarf flame gourami, never tire of seeing his inquisitive little face, always watching me!
The betta is probably my soul fish. I really admire their beauty, goofiness, and willingness to throw down at a moment's notice.
Same. Mine knows he's the king of the tank 😂
I love my neocaridina and pygmy cory tank. A little bit of relaxing,.a little bit of goofy. They sit next to my desk for escaping work junk.
I love my longfin white cloud minnows. They're so beautiful, and hardy!! I got tired of losing fish and looked into finding hardier fish. I couldn't be happier.
My soulmate is a tiny green sunfish I caught fishing. He’s huge and unbelievably colourful now. He has more personality than most dogs I know 🤣
Love your species profiles!
My absolute favorite type of fish are rainbowfish. I want them in all my aquariums. In my smaller aquariums I put Pseudomugils, in my mid-size aquarium I have praecox, and threadfins and in my new, bigger aquarium I will put some other Melanotaenia. Haven't decide if it's going to be the sahulensis or the nigrans yet.
I love how the rainbows constantly swims around, without being hysterical like for example some danios (or endlers...). I get stressed out by endlers, but can look at my rainbows for hours. They have personality and are so curious about everything.
Then I also love gouramis, shrimps and snails. Just got my first gouramis, a group of four sparkling gouramis that I absolutely love. Keep them together with the praecox and threadfins at the moment, but thinking about having an aquarium just for them.
I've never been interested in big fish, like oscars and those other big cichlids. They feel to clumsy. It seems like I want my fish to be like my dogs (I have sighthounds 😅).
Julidichromis marleri are some of the best parents iv seen. I stopped watching tv thx to these great fish. Intelligent, tough if the need to be, and always doing something with a purpose.
bichirs and rope fish never get shown love and those 2 are some of the most interesting fish to look at
I am so happy with my Hyphessobrycon Columbianus group,it is very relaxing to watch them in a planted 50 gallon tank ❤😊
My favorites right now are rocket killis. I know they're supposed to be super jumpy, and I did lose one to jumping (I think - never have found it), but the rest will swim right up to my hand or a pipette to check out if there's food. They are a bit picky about what they eat, and the male definitely chases others away from the "best spot". The female is often ahead of his games, though, and is really good at grabbing up the food before he sees her. (I put food in several spots but this is the "best" one, apparently.) I love the little shiny dot on their head and seeing it appear in the feeding ring. The way they just kind of hang around and have that pouty kind of mouth that they use to snap up worms and flake food is funny to me, for some reason.
Such cool fish!
I love finding a mystery baby betta then bingo it was beautiful find.
Gourami! Always curious, always poking their nose into things that are none of their business 😅
I love bettas. I'm setting up a 20 gallon long for a solo betta gal. I'm super excited.
You can put multiple females in that tank size lol. No need to have it be empty
@@dimitrijekrstic7567 nah, I'm not into sororities. I want to spoil the crap outta just one lil gal 🥰
oh my goodness, I think some of my fish ARE my soulmates😄 I just love your show, You snd your wife do such wonderful work andhave inspired me to be better as a hobbyist.
I have a fish whose name SolLeks, means: The angry one. His personality fits his name. I adopted him from the petstore because he has a diamond eye, so I named him after the one eyed sled dog from Jack London’sCall of the Wild.
Thanks for being here!
This is great content. I often ask the employees at my LFS what is their favourite fish to keep.
I have a guppy. I was told at the store he was peaceful till he found his rock to defend like king of the hill type behavior. Hes chill aint possessive 😂, but he did just recently start living underneath a rock dug out a cave and everything. I thought it was really cool kept finding him popping out real quick like 👋 you didnt see that.
Bloodparrots. They can’t wait to tell me about their day.😊
Big miss on my part for silly fish! 😀
All beautiful tanks and I love the way you addressed this subject. It's really unique. Love the thumbnail too. Your shirts are great, high quality product. Thanks
Thank you so much! Glad you like them!
Fancy goldfish forever…I think I have 16 😂 and yes they’re huge happy little chunkers.
😃🩷
So I have 4 favs that I will always keep, Cory’s (Venezuelan Red Sail, Venezuelan Black, and the Sterbai are in my current collection), Bettas, Florida Flag Fish, and Plecos (the Bristlenose are independent clowns, but I really like L134 Leopard Frog plecos which mine are very active and about even during the day, but I give them lots of cover). As far as non-fish I adore my Blue Dream Neocaridina shrimp which I have in one of my Betta tanks. Yes, it works. I am sure my Betta picks off a few shrimplets from time to time, but he is a double halfmoon, so he doesn’t move that fast. I wouldn’t put a placat or alien betta with shrimp. I currently have a 40 gallon community tank with my mutt guppies, bristlenose plecos, Sterbai corys and Florida Flag Fish (a great algae eater), a 10 gallon with a group on Venezuelan Red Sail Cory’s and a Halfmoon Betta, a 5 gallon with my Double Halfmoon Betta and Blue Dream Neo shrimp (all residents are bright blue), and a 29 gallon with a group of King Cobra guppies, L134 Leopard Frog plecos, a group of Venezuelan Black Corys and a single Golden Marble Angelfish. I am thinking about adding another maybe 20 gallon tank for my bedroom, but not sure yet what I will put in it. All of my tanks also have Rams Horn snails.
I enjoy and keep so many different types of fish. My spirit fish are Puffers...all the Puffers. I have several species. If you want to see a different side of Pea Puffers that will make you so happy, keep at least 10 together in a 30+ gallon heavily planted tank. OMG. The best thing ever. They jam around together. So fun!! I have 20 in QT now getting ready for their 40 gal forever home 🤗
Puffers are great! 😀
Fun video! 😊
That makes perfect sense, I love CoryCats and I'm a silly person. 😂
It was great to see you guys today. You made Veronika's and my day when you gave us hugs! Safe travels home.
So glad you were there!
I am in love with my German Ram .
I’m a new subscriber! Great video! My favorite fish so far are betta fish, goldfish, endlers, shrimp ( not a fish), and axolotl’s (also not a fish).
Glad you are here!
10 years ago my favorite fish was Oscar but now Discus, discus and discus.
IDK why, but my pea puffers my thing. I'm not going to get into the personality traits. lol
Too funny 😂
Had Oscar's awhile ago had to rehome due to breakup and move. I'll have Oscar's again tho they are my fav fish ever. Close second is tiger barbs
I'm setting up a couple of betta tanks & put some extra buddies in there while waiting for the bettas to arrive.
The Venezuelan cories are a hoot. Friendly, friendly, little guys. They definitely act like puppies.
Neocaridina shrimp are just fun & cute & the nerites just cruise along peacefully too.
Just got back from Aquashella Dallas, and just got a glimpse of you flying through the crowd. Wanted to get a pick with ya but didn't . Wish I had cuz my son made the point that that was my only chance...probably not going to make another event...we saved up for a long time to get there. We were only there for a 2 days lol still had a blast !!
It’s a small world… I’m sure it’ll happen again👍🏼🤞🏼
Nooooo! I wish I would have seen you guys!
Iam attracted to this hobby 20 years back and guppies bought me into this hobby .... but inspent lot of time with flowerhorn
Nice
Glass cats are super underrated and i wish i had room to put some in my tank again. I havent had any fish die in years
Very cool!
Make a part 2!
It's a toss up between congo tetras and cardinal tetras.
This hobby wouldn’t be the same for me without clown loaches. Therefore, they are my soulmate fish 🥰
Been debating these for some time now. Maybe with my Frontosa? Thoughts?
Love clown loaches
@@PriceTagAquariums I’ve thought about that combo as well. I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. I grew them up together in a mixed tank a few years back when they were still both quite small. I have dwarf petricolas with my frontosa now and they’re 100% bite size and leave them alone regardless. The only thing I’d think about is the difference in activity level as clowns can be quite active and frontosa tend to just float in 1 spot most the time lol
Black mollies always a fave, but lately it's been ember tetras
@robertjohnston25 Ok thanks. That's what my debate was due to the activity level. They clown loaches must be a lot more active than like maybe corydoras. Thanks for all that info. I appreciate it!
Hands down Rainbow Shark!!!!!We are much a like. Then a feisty betta. ❤
I love my class N wild type Endlers❤❤ I'm small, vibrant and a lil nutty 😂
My Soulmate Fish is definitely the Frontosa, which go with my more chill and laid back personality. I have had 7 of them for a year and got them when they were small, so they obviously still have plenty of room to grow. When you brought up clown loaches in the video, are these good tank mates with Frontosa? I currently have them with blue dolphins only.
Fromtosa are so cool!
Love my Puffers.
Midsized gourami for me. curious, aggressive enough to not be push overs, but not so aggressive that they can't have tank mates. Angry fish list needs convicts.
Awesome vid. Can you make a fish profile on empire gudgeons? They seem like very interesting fish.
Like this? 😀
ruclips.net/video/QIAR_0hSW_4/видео.htmlsi=jkSf_BWeszK37dYO
my soul mate fish would be the RED EYED TETRA
I love my firemouth cichlids
❤
Checkerboard cichlids clamer
soul mate
I like angel fish and discus
Clamer than other cichlid in
Red devil
And flowerhorn cichlids
My favorite fish
Dennison barbs for me
Hey Jason,
What plant is that in the julidochromis ornatus tank? Looks like guppy grass but not sure.
Thanks!
That’s what it was!
Made a 2x2 stand in my bedroom . Can I keep a thriving school of cories in those dimensions. I was thinking of getting a tank that's a aio 23x20x12 . Hoping to hear some recommendations 🙏
Ya - that should work!
So hard to choose from but I will say black ghost knife fish
How long does crushed Coral last in a canister filter
I love my ropefish theh are so goofey
This is such a funny and cute concept! 😄 I relate to my dwarf Mexican crayfish. 🦞 He’s a little odd, 🤪small but mighty, 💪🏻 gets along with his mates but keeps his distance ✌🏻 and is always wanting to eat 🐷😂 Second would be my bettas, full of energy one minute and super chill the next 😴😂
Nice one!
Can anyone give me advice on blue neocarodina shrimp breeding I got into fish to help with quitting substances
Neocardina shrimp should be fairly easy to breed. I’d say the most important things are to make sure you have a mature tank with stable conditions and ideally some algae or biofilm for them to graze on, a nice-sized group so you have a guaranteed mix of males and females, and no tank mates can eat the little shrimplets.
I hope your new fish/shrimpkeeping hobby goes well! 🤗
I am struggling to find solid info on Yo Yos. I have 3 in my newer moderately planted 40B. My Platys are moving there. Can I also have Oto's in this setup?
Ya that should work!
@@PrimeTimeAquatics Thank you!
I think mine is an Electric Eel with Tourette's.
oscars for me
🩷
Cory cats.
Oscars
🩷
What's next? how to tell if your fish has bpd or how to tell if your fish is gaslighting you 😂
You never know 😀
@@PrimeTimeAquatics thank you for taking it in with humor 🤣
Wait, if my soulmate fish is the super aggressive Kenyi Mbunas, does that mean I'm a bad person? 😂
Well……. 😀😂
@@PrimeTimeAquatics😂😭😂
