So happy you highlighted this fish! I have a group of 3 males and 3 females. They are so beautiful and peaceful. They can be shy at times, but make up for it when they are fired up!
You're species care videos are always my go to. Very informative. I love my peacock gudgeons, would love to have these guys someday. A profile on the purple spot gudgeons and other Australian species would be amazing.
I have been keeping Empire and peacock Gudgeon for years. I'm convinced that they are some of the absolute underrated fish in the hobby. I currently have 2 males and 3 females. But I've had dozens over the years. I find that if you have a light with the sunrise feature, they tend to color up almost every morning. I've also found that if you feed live or frozen right at the end of the "sunrise" part, they get even more color. Then shortly after feeding I've seen them MANY times doing the dance with each other. Which I absolutely love to watch. I just wish we were able to get these guys hobby bred. But unfortunately the fry are very, very difficult to keep. Awesome video. I think I've agreed with basically everything. Especially the dark substrate ect. Beautiful fish. They are very expensive unfortunately, but very worth it. Thanks for the video. God bless
The purple spot gobies...my all time favorite fish to keep. You almost never see them in videos. This will be the inspiration for my next tank. Thank you!
I love how unique these fish are and the colours are fantastic! Definitely something I want to check out in the future, stay happy and healthy my friends 😊❤
Thank you again for letting potential Fishkeepers know what fish in your Species Profiles (pricewise) go for.If not warned in advance, that Sticker Shock can be huge eye opener to the Unknowing Fishkeeper, which then leads to potential Frustration with the hobby.Especially if the desired breed of fish should be kept in groups to truly flourish. PS:As a proud Empire State/New Yorker,I wish I could say that this fish was our State Fish😎😉.
Another upstate New Yorker here. These are about 35 dollars a piece at the one lfs where I found them; sticker shock. Wonderful centerpiece fish. Be well.
I have a tank which is very imperial. In it I have two empire Gudgeons and six imperial tetras. There are also three reticulated hillstream loaches, three Ceylon killifish, assorted snails, two Amano shrimp, and a couple of pompom crabs. Everyone gets along very well, although if I put some blanched zucchini in for the hillstream loaches and the snails, the hillstream loaches will often try to push each other off of it. Once one of my hillstream loaches tried to push a mystery snail off of it, and was sorely disappointed when he couldn't budge the snail, who is rather large. There has been no fin nipping, chasing or any other behaviour. It's a peaceable kingdom. The only problem is that my gudgeon male is not colouring up. I'm starting to wonder if maybe I got two females. I've had them since mid-January. Am I being too impatient? At the moment, both fish are about two and a half inches long. They have an amazing ability to vanish during most of the day, but food goes in the water, they are the first to show up, and it's almost as if they just appear... un-cloke, StarTrack style. Anyway, I guess I'm wondering if I need to do something more to get him to colour up, or if it's just a matter of waiting, or if I might have received two females?
Hi Jason! I have a 40 gallon breeder that I am stocking with Gymnogeophagus Terrapurpura and Rainbow Shiners. It will be a cold water tank. What bottom feeders can I put in the tank that would be fine between 65-70 F? Thank you!
Hi Jason, I've got neutral water and I've read under PH6.5 can kill off bacteria. I always have to keep crushed coral in my filters because the PH always plummets when I set up a new tank. Could this be a reason why I get random white spot outbreaks while nothing changes?
There are different species of microbes that will inhabit ecosystems at a lower pH. That being said, fluctuations in water parameters can lead to stress and leave fish more vulnerable to infection.
Idk if anyone can answer this but if I have a 10gal planted tank (with nano fish and shrimp) with activ flora for substrate and I used purified gallon bottled water for the tank. Will me using seachem flourish be adequate in adding the different minerals to the tank that are lost from using purified water when doing water changes?
I keep some that I collected from the local creek. Awesome fish with great colour. Definitely take care of your guppy overpopulation problem, fry dont stand a chance. They do fine in heated or unheated tanks here, I have some inside and some outside. They can live quite a long time so the price is somewhat offset, great value for money. Awesome fish, thanks for highlighting.
I have kept and observed in the wild these native fish for over 30 years now ( in my state ( Qld. Aust ) it is legal to take a small number of fish in Bait traps. I agree this fish is a beautiful species, however as i have never found anyone who honestly admits that they breed them, one must conclude they are all wild caught specimens. As such one must protest in the strongest manner to any encouragement what so ever to this practise of commercial catching of our native species. We already have click bait you tubers here who are actively encouraging easily led and often unscrupulous aquarists to head out into our fragile wilderness and strip mine whatever they can to be converted into money. Australia has more than enough environmental issues without a new one being created thank you. How about instead we ship back en masse the newly discovered population of Feral Pearl Ciclids ( Geophagus brasiliesis ) which are now infesting a waterway in South East Qld. destroying the habitat of the very fish you have just profiled. Please do not take this as a personal attack but rather a request with supporting points about the need to be more aware of how impactful our hobby / trade can be. I do appreciate your work and find your Video's to be far more engaging and comprehensive than most. Thank you for your work and consideration. :)
I love defending the Aussie environment, flora and fauna too, but I disagree here, it is possible to harvest certain flora and fauna sustainably with little to no impact on their population and environment. Ultimately, and in extreme cases, private fish keeping can actually save a species once their natural environment is destroyed, of course we should do everything to avoid it reaching that point. I enjoy some of the videos you're probably referring to, if done in an educational way, which I think they are, they're not advocating people to get out and take as many as they can. I enjoy removing some of the feral cichlids, tilapia, gambusia, swordtails, platys and guppies while I'm out exploring my environment. Cheers and keep up the good fight.

The creek behind my house is full of these little beauties.
That’s crazy I am very jealous and wish I could get to witness that! I assume you’re in Australia if you have them in your backyard!
@@NavajoNaturals_56 yep, North Queensland. Beautiful place. There’s also rainbow fish but I can’t identify the species because they are so variable
Where do u live?
@@AmirmohamadSafari North Queensland

One of my favorite fish, for sure!
Wow.
That beard of yours is the real centerpiece fish.
😀
Hey Prime Time Aquatics so are rubber band dangerous to fish tank and does it release chemicals do it
I haven’t noticed them do anything to fish?
I breed purple spots.
That's awesome you have some. I hardly ever see them anymore.
That is so cool!
These are so really pretty

Thank you for the video! Their absolutely beautiful. But I couldn't take my eyes off that super red bristlenose. Where did you get him from?
He was one of the plecos I bred years ago.
Awesome video thanks for sharing great footage

The males usually color up at about 1.5-2”
Do you think I can get away with adding 2 emperor with the smaller ram chilids
Ya, I could see that working.
Beautiful fish never seen them before how much are they
Im on city water that is chlorinated. Would i have to treat the water for fish like these and guppies?
I use Fritz Complete!

@@PrimeTimeAquatics Do these microbes inhabit the rivers where water is constantly being replenished, or do we just need them for aquariums?
Do you have any species profiles on the Purple Spotted gudgeons?
I don't yet :-(
@PrimeTimeAquatics Well get to it man! There's really not much of them 😂
I love these empire Gudgeons I have 3 of them. My only problem with them is that they stay hidden in all my live plants and rarely come out
I would love a species profile on Gymnogeophagus terrapurpura or Gymnogeophagus rabdotus. 😃
I love that shallow tank so cool. How many gallons would you say that is?
It’s a 50 gallon low boy made by zoomed.

Possibly for plants, but if there is no GH or KH that can cause water stability and fish health issues.
Is it a good idea to add an air stone to an all in one medial chamber? Pu it in under the bio media.
I’ve never found it necessary.
