  • In this video we showcase nearly 80 hours of non-stop Carbide Ceramic rod coring.
    This is without doubt the longest uninterrupted High-Power Waterjet Laser cutting job ever performed. And that without a single tool change or pause. Hundreds of rods are cut with exceptional surface quality and dimensional control.
    Head over to www.avonisys.com for more information about our waterjet laser cutting technology.

    What is the maximum height possible to cut in a steel workpiece? even using multiple pass?

      We've done to about 10mm in steel. Nickel alloys are great to work with by the way

    What tool can there even be changed the laser crystal? Or is this a hybrid design water/laser?

    • @Avonisys
      @Avonisys  3 года назад +3

      The applied laser is a fiber laser with no maintenance requirements apart from clean cooling water. The process "consumables" are laser windows through which the laser is guided into the waterjet. Those are replace periodically. The waterjet nozzle is regarded as a tool and can be replaced to work with different diameters. These nozzles do wear over time, but have a fairly long life time.

    So the laser is passing through water instead of air?
    Any clever things able to happen because of that?

    • @hanfei6871
      @hanfei6871 3 года назад +1

      You get much less taper because the laser don’t focus in the air anymore

    • @Avonisys
      @Avonisys  3 года назад +3

      Guiding the laser inside a 0.05mm waterjet enables to contain the laser energy within a constant diameter over a very long working distance. This enable virtually taper-free cuts and no heat affected zone.

    How much does this machine taper in the z-axis? I never see a example where the cut is being lifted out from the top...

    • @Avonisys
      @Avonisys  3 года назад

      The taper is around 0.01mm with the wider side being the laser entrance side
