I did photography and when I did black and white photography my work was awful at first, another good way to learn is I believe there is a way to put your phone in black and what, watch TV shows and stuff in black and white especially live action ones if you're going for realism, I think it's only for android but maybe with iPhone too, it's greyscale mode in settings

This is so interesting! When you turn on black and white, what you're seeing is the Values of the colours, so in theory, a pink and blue colour could look the same if it's values match. That's what you saw on the Bunery, the brown and pink colour have matching values
That Carnivine luck reminds me of the time I tried to breed for shiny Dratini in gen 2 and as soon as I frustratedly said "I just want a freaking shiny!" I encountered full odds shiny Drowzee.
Something similar happened to me with Legends Arceus, I was hunting a Pichu for my Pokedex and said to myself there's a shiny in this map somewhere and about 1 minute later found a shiny Kricketot
The madchad's back at it again! This honestly seems like a hella interesting challenge, because it really relies on your own color knowledge to accurately check just WHAT shade of gray corresponds to the sparkly friend...truly amazing.
This is such a cool concept. I wouldn’t have been able to find as many shinies as you did with this lol (Also, if anyone wants to try this, in the ‘System’ settings on the switch you can go to ‘Change Display Colors’ and switch it to Grayscale)

I have never seen a double shiny like those rhyhorn before. I had a headache today and seeing that made my stress levels shoot up and it made my headache worse but it was definitely worth it.
This is a really cool idea! I really enjoyed seeing the challenge of mentally translating the colors and saturation into black and white to imagine what the differences would be. Its a great idea to check with the other Pokémon in the area but its so hard to tell when there's nothing to compare it to.
Love this! Would want to see a part 2. Also, maybe you could have a chance to walk away and go back to see the sparkles, but you can only choose it 3 times and after that no more.

500 hours in and I'm still not bored with Legends Arceus. Going for a perfect dex, a living alpha dex, and after spending so long going for alphas I have over half of the dex in shinies, I'm going for a living shiny dex on the side, too. Just too much fun!
I was playing LA while watching, and as soon as you got your shiny Gastly in the video, I thought, “I haven’t gotten a shiny from the Gengar line at all in this game; why don’t I check out this nearby Gastly outbreak?” and THERE WAS A SHINY HAUNTER, NO JOKE. I found it hilarious; it was like your Carnivine encounter later in the video lol
carnivine had me cackling and reminded me of my own 2 shiny carnivines. I'd been wondering if i'd ever see a shiny carnivine and a second later one showed up next to a static alpha! After a map reset (probably 5 minutes) i went back to the same area and this time the static alpha itself was shiny??? WHAT i stg this game sometimes
If you are interested in doing this, the switch has a setting to turn the colors black and white or to invert them (warning: invertet colors are funny but can hurt your eyes after a while 🤣)
You should do this challenge again, but go around blindfolded listening for the chime. The sparkles give it away and this would be so much harder without seeing the sparkle.

Got a more casual but possibly fun shiny hunt idea: 1 kill, 1 catch. When you go out to shiny hunt the first pokemon you find shiny starts the chain, you have to kill or catch it. After you decide and finish, then the next shiny has to be the opposite [kill first, then second is catch] so means you gotta plan out what you wanna do in Massive mass outbreaks so you could possibly aim to catch a fav or kill one you already seen enough of.

Edit: This statement deserves explenation. nowadays if you find a shiny on your pokemon arceus you make a snap send it to your friends and no one cares. back in my day (HG,SS,DPP) you'd go to the front door of your friends house to tell them the big news and everyone would be mindblown all day long.

Something I only found out recently, is when you’re targeting a Pokémon, if you press A, it’ll swap which Pokémon you’re targeting.
I can’t see most colors, so it’s interesting to see what looking for shinies like this is like for someone else.

The carnivine you caught was the same spawn as my first shiny of this game. I was doing a voltorb outbreak and happened upon the carnivine up the hill

Now do this in pokemon scarlet and Violet where you don't have shiny sounds and just have to be questioning everything, I feel it would be very funny
